Dear Mr. Wang,

Thank you for a rapid response to our invitation. Enclosed you will find an outline of events to take place during International Week here at the University of Montana. I will also list a number of possible speaking engagements so that you can choose those things in which you are most interested. As far as topics are concerned, the topics for classroom visits are generally determined by the professor, but most professors are very flexible. We have approximately thirty-five faculty members that teach courses in Asian Studies, ranging from language and culture to history and economics.

I, the undersigned, am a senior in Peking University. The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games is coming in four years. After watching the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, I can not help writing to you.

First of all, here is my suggestion for the preparation work of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The construction work of the sports building must be completed in time according to the contract. In Athens, the swimming stadium was not accomplished in time so that the event had to be held in the open air, which has brought negative effect on the performance of athletes. When people ask me what kind of job I want to work on in the future, my

answer is to be a teacher, which is my ideal job. I like to pass knowledge to

next generation and lead them to find their own place in the world. What’s more,

I can live near my families, so I can go home often and enjoy the dinner with

Hello! I’m a student from Class 10, Grade 7. Let me tell you something about my school life. It’s very intersting.

Classes begin at 7:50 am. I have five classes in the morning. In the afternoon, I have three classes. We study many subjects. They are English, art, history, biology and some other subjects. My favorite subject is English. It’s easy and interesting. I like P.E. and music, too. Our P.E. teacher is very funny. But I don’t like history at all. I think it’s difficult and boring.

首先，你还没走进校门，就会发现校门和以前的完全不同了：校门是一个皮卡丘形状的，皮卡丘的两个眼睛是两个红外线对证仪，凡是本校师生校门就会自动打开，如果是陌生人校门就不会打开。走进校门，你会发现：哇！教学楼足足有30多层高，操场足有2000多平方米，操场还有许多娱乐设施，有排球场，篮球场、足球场、滑梯、双杠、单杠。.....让你目不暇接。这时，当你走进教室时，你会惊奇的发现：同学们都没有书包，只是每人桌上有一台电脑。告诉你吧，这是因为，老师讲课时，只用把上的内容发到同学的电脑上，布置家庭作业时，老师只用把作业拷到同学们的U盘里让同学带回家放在电脑上做就行了。而且，一下课，课桌什么的就会自动消失，同学们就有很大的地方游戏了.....

... ... 叮铃铃，又是即令人讨厌的闹铃，一起床，我的第一个念头就是：又要到那个拥挤的学校上课了。唉!

I noticed an ad. In the paper today you said you were looking for people to join your expedition team. It sounded as if it might be fun so Im writing to say Id like to come along.

About myself: I left school at 16 because I wanted to earn a bit of money. After that I got a few part-time jobs as a waiter, etc. But I didnt stick to any of them for long. Recently Ive been doing a bit of hitch-hiking round Europe so Ive had some experience of traveling the hard way which should come in handy on the expedition youre planning. By the way, Im a great guitarist so I can keep you all amused round the campfire at night.

一个星期六，我去图书馆看书，突然发现了海伦凯勒的《假如给我三天光明》，这是我一直想买的一本好书。惊喜之余我便迫不及待地从书架上抽下这本书津津有味地看了起来。看着看着，我被海伦的身残志坚的精神所折服，没想到小小年纪的海伦在学单词、学说话的过程中付出了多少常人难以想象的努力，她经历了多少的磨难与煎熬！同时我也明白了一个道理：不能看你没有的，要看你已经拥有的一切，这样你才会感到幸福。就这样，我在图书馆一直连续看了三个多小时，不知不觉已近中午，我竟毫无察觉，连肚子已饿得咕咕叫都忘了。突然，一只手轻轻地放在我的肩上，接着一个熟悉的声音在我耳边响起：“子涵该回家吃饭了！”抬头一看，原来是老妈来带我回家了，我摸了摸自己饿瘪的肚子，不由地说：“妈，我饿了，快，快带我回家吃饭……”老妈笑着抚摸着我的头，柔声说：“哟，看书这么认真，真是废寝忘食啊！”我不好意思地笑了，立刻出去，以最快的速度爬上妈妈的电瓶车赶到家，大口大口吃起饭来。
