Here is a difference between science and technology.Science is a method of

answering theoretical questions; technology is a method of solving practical

problems. Science has to do with discovering the facts and relationships between

observable phenomena in nature and with establishing theories that serve to

organize these facts and relationships; technology has to do with

tools,techniques, and procedures for implementing the findings of science.

Another distinction between science and technology has to do with the

progress in each. Progress in science excludes the human factor. Scientists, who

accuracy and certainty, cannot pay heed to their own or other peoples likes or

dislikes, or to popular ideas about the fitness of things. What scientists

discover may shock or anger people--as did Darwins theory of evolution. But

even an unpleasant truth is more than likely to be useful; besides, we have the

option of refusing to believe it! But hardly so with technology;we do not have

the option of refusing to hear the sonic boom produced by a supersonic

aircraft-flying overhead; we do not have the option of refusing to breathe

polluted air. Unlike science, progress in technology must be our slave and not

the reverse. The legitimate purpose of technology is to serve peopie--people in

general, not merely some people; and future generations, not merely those who

presently wish to gain advantage for themselves.

We are all familiar with the abuses of technology. Many people blame

technology itself for widespread pollution, resource depletion and even social

decay in general--so much so that the promise of technology is obscured. That

promise is a cleaner and healthier world. If wise applications of science and

technology do not lead to a better world, what else will?

我设计了一所“未来的学校”，这不，快迟到了，还没吃早饭呢！

急急忙忙赶到学校门口，就看见了两个看门机器人。看见人来了，它们走上前，说了声“你好”就用一个闪光的仪器在我面前晃了一下，说：“还没吃早饭吧。”然后就往我嘴里放了三块食物。一块方方的，淡绿的，是压缩蔬菜。还有一块乳白的，圆圆的，是压缩酸奶，别看东西小，但我早已吃饱。还没等机迷离器人问我“还吃吗？”，我已跑了很远。

变了，操场有游乐场地下室，国旗碰水依然使人感到尊严，主席台可以上下伸缩……特别是学校没有教学楼，而是一些专区，有语文专区，数学专区，英语专区……第一节是语文，我随着人群走进了语文专区。今天要学的是记金华的双龙洞。语文老师走到讲台前，按了一下讲台旁墙上的按钮，顿时，墙变成了课文的画面，随着课文的朗读，墙自动变化画面。我们看的入了迷，有种身临奇境的感觉。很快，一节有趣的语文课在笑声中结束了。

第二节是数学课，我们来到了数学专区。数学老师打开一个精致的房子模型，顿时，房模闪着迷离的光点，也飞出了数学课本里的两个数学小精灵：聪聪和明明（高科技模拟性机器人），它们帮着数学老师教我们数学，身体也随着上下飞舞。我们惊奇得合不笼嘴，一直很吵闹的数学课因为两位小精灵的“到来”而异常安静。

第三节是体育课，体育专区的游泳池太棒了！水是电子水。夏天的水很凉爽，而冬天的水和温泉一样。水还能教你游泳，水一直在波动，波动的规律是：正确的姿势游泳时，水的流动。我是个“旱鸭子”，但碰到这么好的东西，我还是试了试。不到四个来回，我已经学会了游泳。有一种超高跳高鞋，深受男同学喜爱。这种跳高鞋只要定好跳的高度，就能跳多高，可以让同学们“一饱飞瘾”。

第四节是英语课，英语专区里，英语老师正等着我们呢！背单词足可以让我“大脑轰炸”，可老师给我们每人发了一张“纸”，说是“电子纸”。纸上连着耳机，如你要默写“apple”，先把单词的汉字写在纸上，再默写。如果你默错了，它就写不上，只会用银色把正确的字母显示在纸上，再跟着耳机把那个字母读三遍，你就能默写下来了。

进入学校，首先看到的是一座东西走向的教学楼，楼身镶着暗红色瓷片，楼顶是灰色瓦片，像一位知识渊博的老人，头戴灰色帽子，身披红色袍子，和蔼可亲地注视着我们。

教学楼有两层，我们的教室在二楼。教室墙上有五扇明亮的窗户，教室里有整齐的桌椅。屋顶有六根又细又长的电棒，为我们照明。电棒旁边两台吊扇在炎炎的夏日为我们带来一丝清凉，左窗下的两组暖气片让我们在寒风刺骨的冬天不再寒冷。

操场上，南面有一排七个水泥乒乓球台。西面有两个高大挺拔的篮球架，正北面有五十米长的跑道，我们学校虽小，体育设施一应俱全。下课时操场上热闹非凡：有的在踢球，有的在跳皮筋，有的在追逐玩耍，有的在打篮球。

星期一来到学校里后就忙着扫大雪。虽然学校下达了紧急的扫大雪令，但同学们却还是极不情愿地来到卫生区，因为天气的原因，我们的班主任还没有来到学校。在班长的极力催促下，同学们才全来到了卫生区。

看着白茫茫的积大雪，同学们都不愿意干了，全都在那里玩了起来，只有为数不多的几个女同学在干。几个男同学受女生的启发后也跟着干了起来，但大多的同学还是站在原地。我当时正和几个女同学持大雪，看着同学们的种种表现，心中很是气愤：同学们为什么不相互帮助，团结一致来扫大雪呢？难道只有他们累吗？特别是那些男生们，到底是怎么回事？老师前后怎么变成两个样子了呢？

有几个女同学把凳子拿下来用来堆积大雪。几个男同学竟然坐了起来，其中正在扫大雪的一个女生气愤极了，大吼了一声：“你们有什么资格坐在那里？”我以为男生会满脸羞愧地站起来的，没想到他们却不以为然地说：“我的腿有资格坐在这里！”听听，这是句多么厚颜无耻的话啊！是啊，你的腿也许有资格坐在那里，但是你却没有坐在那里的资格！

不一会儿，班主任来了，看到只有女生干活，男生们却伫立在那里，气愤地说了声：“男生们快干活！”男生们这才接过女生手里的工具开始干起活儿来。哼，现在好了吧，真是自食其果！最后，老师让女生们都回教室，而把男生全部留下！

大大雪过后，同学们的行为很让人气愤。这是什么素质？那些人都是语言上的巨人，行动上的矮子！下一次的大大雪之后，我希望不会再看到这种现象。
