The characteristics of formal writing

1.名词化趋势

I do not eat much.-->I am a light eater.

The clock on the desk reminds me of time.-->I put a clock on the desk as a reminder of time.

We once cried, laughed and disappointed.-->There were moments of tears, moments of laughter, and moments of disappointment.

注意:名词化趋势的句子当然还有动词, 目的是尽量把表达句子中心意思的那个词汇用名词表达.符合英文的习惯.

2.无灵主语(区别于被动语态)

我们中文写作中,习惯以人做主语,而英文则相反,习惯以物做主格.

Main features of English sentences:

1.长短句结合

6.倒装

(1)将一些否定性含义的副词和短语在句首,用倒装会使句子生色不少.

(2)为使描绘更加生动,与介词同形的副词可以移动到句首,而把主语放到谓语后面去.

四、插入语

2.插入语后面再接上一个定语从句;

immediately wake up and continue to knead for me until dawn; remember that when

I was a child, every time I was lying in the bathtub, you would help me to rub

the bath; remember that when my dirty clothes were thrown around, you would

silently pick up the clothes on the ground and clean them for me; I still

remember when you were a kid, you blew my legs in order to send me to learn the

piano, and you often hurt in the winter when riding a motorcycle. I still

remember that you often ran around for work, and your hair turned white. I still

remember that you got up at the earliest time every morning to buy food for my

mother and me, so that my mother and I would wake up and see all kinds of

breakfast on the table; I remember when I was sad for school, you always said,

"its OK, and Dad!"

at present some people think that money is everything. they say that you can do everything if you have money. you can live in a beautiful house, keep a luxurious ear and have all sorts of delicious food.

i dont think so. indeed, money can buy a lot of things we need. but there are many, many wonderful things in the world that cannot be bough/; with money.

for example, knowledge cannot be bought with money. one cannot be rich in knowledge unless he studies hard. time cannot be bought with money, either. who can buy even a second with money?

there are still many other things that cannot be bought with money: health,life, happiness,friendship, love and so on. just think, if a person hasnt these things at all, is the money still useful?
