1、摧残身体
如果长时间上网，对一个人眼睛的伤害非常严重。由于学生对游戏的痴迷，达到了可以不吃饭、不睡觉的疯狂地步。由于玩游戏时精力高度集中，伴随着血液加速、心跳加快，人的体力、精力消耗很大。再加上电游、网吧空气混蚀，人口密度大，烟味、食物味、汗臭味，五味俱全，机器声、打闹声、脏话声，声声刺耳，卫生、环境条件极差，严重影响着身体健康。所以一般玩通宵电游的网迷走出网吧时，眼睛通红，蓬头垢面，两腿发软，形似缟素。青少年学生正是长身体的时候，如果不知饥渴、不分昼夜的上网，其对身体的危害不会亚于大麻、白粉等毒物，这并非危害言耸听。
2、心理受损
由于网迷对上网有着很强的心理依赖，轻者影响学习、身体，严重者致使心理变态、心态扭曲，有人说，学生学习负担重，心理压力大，能在网上找个忠实的听众(不一定是朋友)聊聊，心情可以得到放松，情绪会变得稳定，我们不否认此说法，如果能把握好，对调节心智是有一定益处，但实际上，许多未成年人一旦上网，便无法把握，将太多的时间精力花在网吧里，致使学业受影响，老师批评、家长生气，反而心理负担更重。
3、滋生是非
进出网吧的大多是中小学生， 小的几岁，大的十七八岁，他们大多没有收入，为了能弄到进网吧的钱，有的结伙敲诈，有的偷盗抢劫。还有一类人进出网吧，他们纯粹是敲诈中小学生，经常有打架斗殴的事在网吧发生，有的网吧经营者唯利是图，向过夜未成年人提供饮食住宿，子女夜不归宿，家长自然心急火燎，亲戚朋友、老师一起出动，到处找人，确实给家庭、给社会带来了不安定因素。
4、影响学业
学生一旦对网吧痴迷，就是对人生追求的放弃，学生一旦进入网吧，成绩直线下降。有一位学生写道：该死的网吧，你夺走了我的学业、夺走了我的大学，我咬牙切齿，切肤心疼!但我就是不能自控!还有位同学这样说：我一闭眼，就看到键盘，手指碰到任何物体都有鼠标的感觉，鼠标一点，导弹就发出了。我们无法真正进入那些网迷们的内心世界去体味他们的感受，但可以想象到他们通红的眼睛、疲惫的心理到底有多少精力去学习。
5、安全隐患
