汞污染

汞是唯一在常温下呈液体的金属元素。俗称朱砂。汞可溶于水，空气中。它巨大的毒性令人谈之色变。它主要来源于电池等物品。据统计1970~1979年全世界直接向水体排放的汞总量达1.6万吨！排向大气的汞量也达10万吨。当水中或空气中的汞浓度过高时，会导致树木枯死，人类患上因汞摄入过高引发的病症，如日本南部九州湾有一个叫水俣的小镇，这里居住着4万居民，以渔业为生。1939年开始，日本氮肥公司的合成醋酸厂开始生产氯乙烯，工厂的生产废水一直排放入水误湾。该公司在生产氯乙烯和醋酸乙烯时，使用了含汞的催化剂，使废水中含有大量的汞。这种汞在水体中，被水中的鱼食用，在鱼体内转化成有毒的甲基汞。人食用鱼后，汞在人体内聚集从而产生一种怪病：患者开始时，只是口齿不清，步履蹒跚，继而面部痴呆，全身麻木，耳聋眼瞎，最后变成神经失常，直至躬身狂叫而死。1972年据环境厅统计，水误镇共患水误病180人，死亡50多人，就在新线县阿赫野川亦发现100多水误病患者，8人死亡。据报到，患者人数远不止此，仅水误镇的受害居民，即达万余人。

您知道，茫溪河是井研人民的母亲河。据说，十多年前的茫溪河，河面碧波轻漾，河水清澈明净，河里鱼虾成群；小伙伴们三五成群，常来这里洗澡、嬉戏……而如今，它却无声无息地静卧在那里，失去了昔日的光彩，水体浑浊发黑，河水恶臭无比。

曾经妩媚动人的茫溪河为什么会变成这般模样呢？为了弄清这个问题，我们小组开展了“保护母亲河，清洁新家园”环境调查活动。我们调查后发现，原因主要包括三方面：一是沿河两岸盐厂、化工厂等企业的工业废水污染。二是沿河城镇居民未经处理的生活污水排放污染。三是沿河两岸的庄稼中，部分含有氮磷钾的化肥和农药随水土流失进入河中。茫溪河简直就成了藏污纳垢之所。

综合治理茫溪河，还原一片蓝天碧水，已成为当前不容回避的问题。为此，我想提出以下几点建议：

1。加强城镇污水管网建设。生活污水通过排污管道进入污水处理厂进行处理。严禁生活污水进入雨水管道或直接进入河流。

2。加强污水处理设施建设。对于生活污水排放量较大的城镇，应建立污水处理厂；对排放量较小的中小乡镇，可建污水处理站，对生活污水进行处理。

3。开展生态农业工程建设。在茫溪河流域开展植树造林活动，增加森林覆盖率，防止水土流失；在广大农村推广科学施肥，降低化肥、农药用量。

most americans would find it hard to imagine life without a car. however, some have realized the serious problem of air pollution caused by cars. the polluted air becomes poisonous and dangerous to health.

one way to get rid of the polluted air is to make a car without pollution. but to build a clean car is easier said than done. progress in this field is slow.

another way is to replace car engines with something else. inventors are now working on steam cars as well as electric cars. many makers believe that it will take years to develop a practical model for us.
