从常理讲，搞科研应该有起码的基础。早在1952年，毛主席曾经感慨，现在我们能造桌子、椅子，能造茶碗、茶壶，能种粮食，还能磨成面粉，但是一辆汽车、一架飞机、一辆坦克都不能造。可见我国科技水平与世界先进国家的巨大差距。最初提出搞导弹的时候，除了钱学森同志，我们谁也没有见过导弹。在当时国家“一穷二白”的情况下，面对难以想象的困难，我们不怨天尤人，不妄自菲薄，怀着强烈的事业心和责任感，发扬大力协同精神，迎难而上，想方设法啃下了一块块“硬骨头”。记得我带队研制卫星天线时，为了弄清卫星上天后天线折断的原因，要做许多地面试验，但哪有现成的设备和实验室呢?我们的实验室是从中科院力学所借来的一间仓库，我们在仓库里搞了一个实验用的转台。做这种实验，卫星天线一旦折断，就会伤人，危险性大。为了防止意外，我在仓库里给每个同事找了个包装箱盖，让大家顶着当“盾牌”。他们有的爬到房梁上，有的躲到墙角里，都从“盾牌”缝里看卫星旋转时天线的反应。经过反复试验，我们终于弄清了问题的症结。还有一个测试太阳敏感器的实验，为了模拟太阳，我们借了一个探照灯，也是拉到库房里，让它当“太阳”。那时的很多实验都是这样因陋就简。虽然条件简陋，但实验结果却从不打折扣，这里面凝聚的是我们航天科技工作者无穷无尽的智慧和爱国强国的情怀。

我们在酒泉基地搞“两弹”结合的时候，刚开始连帐篷都没有，住的是“地窝子”，就是在地上挖一个大约一米深的大坑，在坑上面搭个支架，在支架顶上盖些草，在坑中打一个大通铺，几十个人睡在一起。即使是后来在研究院时期，有一段时间也没有宿舍。我是每天将铺盖带到办公室，白天工作时，将铺盖卷放在一边;晚上往办公桌上一铺，就睡在桌子上。我们始终保持高昂的革命乐观主义精神，以苦为乐、以苦为荣，再苦照样出成果。

在“文革”时期，知识分子变成了“臭老九”，我们不仅要克服科研条件基础差、物质保障匮乏等客观困难，还要在思想上经受政治冲击，忍受精神上的委屈和折磨。1970年4月24日9时35分，“长征1号”载着“东方红1号”直上云霄。105分钟后，卫星绕地一周，新疆喀什站报告：收到太空传来《东方红》乐曲，《东方红》响彻寰宇!可是，为了保证《东方红》能在太空唱响，我们不知费了多少心血。《东方红》乐曲装置的主要设计者叫刘承熙，因为社会关系比较复杂，不能在这个岗位继续工作了。但是，方案是他设计的，很多问题还需要问他，他却不能进到保密车间里来，怎么办?我们想了个办法，让他在门口等着，遇到问题时，车间的人就出来问他。他就以这种方式，毫无怨言地参与了研制工作。当“东方红1号”发射时，他却在干校劳动，没能及时享受到那份成功的喜悦。当时，还有很多人也受到了不公正的待遇。在当时那种特殊情况下，没有人关心我们的生活待遇和工作条件，甚至连上班不上班都没人管，大家完全凭着“爱祖国、跟党走”的坚定信念自觉努力工作着。这种信念，不仅支撑我们渡过难关，也支撑我们坦然面对各种坎坷和冤屈。

I am pleased to invite you to a luncheon, to be held by the Monterey Institute of International Studies on October 12, 2006 at noon, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the death of General Stilwell and in honor of his daughter, Mrs. Nancy Stilwell Easterbrook. Mrs. Easterbrook was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Monterey Institute and founder of the Stilwell Scholarship, which is dedicated to supporting students from China.

For many years until she passed away, Nancy had served as a goodwill ambassador of the American people who made unremitting efforts to promote exchanges between the United States and China. The Stilwell Scholarship she founded helps support deserving students from China who have come to the Monterey Institute to pursue professional degrees in translation and interpretation, international policy studies, language teaching and business management.

I have a friend. Her name is Candy. She is twelve year old. She has black and short hair. She has a little mouth, two big eyes. She is so cute. Her mom and dad love her. She has a happy family. Her friends like her too, So she’s happy every day.

Since we were born， many people help us a lot. We should be grateful to their kindness. But the ones we should show our greatest appreciation are our parents. From the first day we appear in their lives， they give us all their love and care， but never expect anything in return. In order to make our lives better， learn better， they do everything they can to create the best conditions for us， but ignore their own needs. 秋天，秋风像一只神奇的画笔，一夜功夫就把洪泽湖的景象变成了一片金色。而洪泽的果园，田地里都有着丰富的收获。瞧，果园里的柿子弯下了腰，荔枝妹妹太胖了，撑破了衣裳，露出了白白的肚皮。硕大的苹果挂满了枝头，露出了甜甜的微笑。在田地里，玉米可高兴了，秋姑娘给它换了金色的外衣，张开嘴笑了;西红柿还在为自己的嘴唇上涂满了口红。

洪泽的冬天与春天，夏天，秋天就有所不同了。刺骨的寒风吹着，让人不禁打起颤来。并且偶然会有顽皮的雪花从天空中纷纷扬扬地落下来。有的雪花像根丝，有的像根纸片。

我的家乡景色不仅美丽，而且还是个人才辈出的地方。那里是四大名著之一的西游记 作者吴承恩的家乡;英勇善战的民族英雄关天培的家乡。还是我们爱的周总理周恩来的家乡。他们都是我们家乡淮安的骄傲。
