Once known as Changan, Xian is the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of Shaanxi Province, with its jurisdiction over five counties including Changan County. Located in the middle of the Central Plains of the Yellow River Basin, Xian stands between Qinling Mountain to the north and the Weihe River to the south.
