The quality of human life has improved greatly over the past few centuries, but Earth is being harmed more and more by human activity. As we develop our technology, we demand more from our planet. Eventually, this will harm people as well.

Our planet gives us everything we need, but natural resources are not endless. Strip mining devastates whole regions, leaving bare and useless ground. Deforestation removes old growth trees that cant be replaced. Too much fishing may harm fish populations to the point where they cant recover. There is a new shopping area on every corner and new houses, townhouses and apartments everywhere. Traffic gets worse and worse because planners cant keep up with growth. Keeping up with human demand is hard enough. Environmental concerns come in last.

With growth comes pollution. Companies and communities dump waste into water. Landfills are full of trash. Emissions from factories pollute the air. Barrels of industrial waste and worse, radioactive waste, have no safe place to go. If were not careful, we can harm our planet beyond repair.

People need to respect the Earth and try to preserve it. If we dont, what kind of future will we have?

Responsible travel is very well expressed in the famous travelers saying: Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints, kill nothing but time. Travelling is every one’s way of getting away from the hustle and bustle of life and sometimes, because we are so engrossed in our desire to enjoy and have fun, we tend to forget that the we only have one earth to live on and that we are all responsible for it. Very often, we are not conscious enough to realize that one little candy wrapper that we threw outside the bus while travelling could one day contribute to the blocking of the drainage system and could cause flooding in the area; we are not aware enough of the fact that the litter we throw away carelessly might one day turn the place into a trash dump; we are not considerate enough to see the tree we attempt to climb might be over 500 years old and can hardly bear our weight.

I think we should understand that travelling should not be seen as something that is human-centered.

It should be understood that when we travel, we should feel honored that we could still see and enjoy the beauty of the world.

We, as a human being, should be responsible for the few of the remaining beautiful places in this planet. Being responsible doesn’t necessarily mean that we are required to do something grand for the environment. It’s those little things that matter the most. If everybody starts doing those little things, I bet it could change the world.

This weekend, there was an art festival in our school, it had been hold for

five years and the school insisted to make it become the feature. I was so

excited, this was the first time for me to join. Early in the morning, I saw

there were so many people coming to the campus, making the campus so lively. The

students dressed so well and gave the warm welcome to the guests. I walked

around and appreciated the painting, every work was drawn by the students, I was

so impressed by these works. There were also some handworks, which were so

creative, it reflected the students’ wisdom. Though we were busy with our

subjects most of the time, some students still kept on their hobbies and made it

On the fourth day, we went to a cathedral in the city for worship. Before I went, I asked my mother to buy me a New Jersey, so it made me more lively and energetic.

On the fifth day, our main task is to go shopping in the big shopping mall in the city. I bought two beautiful cups and decided to return to my cousin and cousin. My mother bought a new captain armband for me. On the sixth day, my family went to the zoo in the city and we spent a whole day in it. Here, I saw the giraffe for the first time, saw the big rhino, saw the elephant, saw the boa constrictor...... I think the zoo here is very different from the zoo in our country, mainly in the style of the building. Really let me eyes!

The seventh day, I did not go out, but stay at Uncle Mikes home, and his son playing trampoline and game consoles. All two of us are boys, and our personalities are similar. We have nothing to say, talk about each other, and enjoy ourselves! From time to time the room burst into our happy laughter.

On the eighth day, we finally finished our trip to England and left the beautiful England for Hongkong. The two of us are reluctant to part. Especially uncle Mike and my son Kevinmike left E - mail address, so that we can keep in touch after day. Mom and dad have also invited uncle Mikes family to come and visit us in Hongkong.

Should students make friends on line? Some people say yes. The Internet

helps make many friends. Chatting on line, students can express their feelings

and opinions more freely, and even get help with their foreign language

studies.

Others, however, think students should not. They say making friends on line

is a waste of time, which should be spent more meaningfully on study. Besides,

some students, get cheated on line.

It is my opinion that students should place their study, health and safety

before other, things. As for friendship, we can readily find it in our

classmates and other people around us.
