不到5岁便夭折的儿童每年有900万。在撒哈拉沙漠以南的非洲地区，产妇死亡概率为33%，这一比率在发达国家仅为0.018%。全球至少有25个国家，大多数为撒哈拉以南的非洲国家，其人口的平均寿命不超过55岁。仅在印度一国，就有超过5000万的学龄儿童连简单的课文也看不懂。

看了上面这段文字，或许你只想把书扔到一边，不去想世界贫穷这件大事。因为这个问题看上去太宽泛、太棘手。然而，我们写这本书的目的就在于，劝你不要那样做。
