at present, internet slang, such as “gg, mm, xia mi”， has become popular among the teenagers.

there are different opinions on internet slang. some students think internet slang is vivid, fashionable and full of humor and intelligence. besides, it makes chatting on the internet quicker.

however, some other students think internet slang lacks depth of thought and is too simple. also, it is hard to understand and not accepted by most people. the words sometimes might make people confused, even resulting in misunderstanding.

every coin has two sides. in my opinion, living in the information age, if we don’t know the internet slang, we seem to fall behind the times. it will be ok as long as these terms are used correctly in proper situations.

When I was five my biological father committed suicide. It left me feeling as though I‘d done something wrong; that if I had been better somehow maybe he‘d have stayed around. My mother remarried shortly thereafter and this man was my dad until I was nineteen. I called him Dad and used his name all through school. But when he and my mother divorced he just walked away. Once again I wondered what was wrong with me that I couldn‘t keep a father.

Mother remarried again and Bob was a wonderful kind man. I was twenty now and no longer living at home but I felt a great love and attachment for him. A few years later my mother was diagnosed with cancer and was not given long to live. Shortly before she died Bob came over to my house alone one day. We talked about a lot of things and then he told me that he wanted me to know that he‘d always be there for me even after Mother was gone. Then he asked if he could adopt me.

I could hardly believe my ears. Tears streamed down my face. He wanted me - me! This man had no obligation to me but he was reaching out from his heart and I accepted. During the adoption proceedings the judge commented on all the undesirable duties of his profession and then with a tear in his eye thanked us for brightening his day as he pronounced us father and daughter. I was twenty-five but I was his little girl.

Three short years later Bob too was diagnosed with cancer and was gone within the year. At first I was hurt and angry at God for taking this father away too. But eventually the love and acceptance that I felt from Dad came through again and I became once more grateful for the years we had.

On Father‘s Day I always reflect on what I‘ve learned about fatherhood. I‘ve learned that it is not dependent on biology or even on raising a child. Fatherhood is a matter of the heart. Bob‘s gift from the heart will warm my soul for eternity.

help prevent global warming. They can act in three ways; by supporting research,

by making laws and by keeping the general public informed.

Firstly, governments can support research. For example, they should

encourage companies to develop vehicles that cause less pollution. They should

also support alternative sources of electricity from wind and water rather than

from oil and coal. As well, they should sponsor conferences to discuss the

effects of greenhouse gas emissions and possible solutions to the problem.

Secondly, they should make laws that limit the amount of greenhouse gases

that companies can emit. Private companies should be rewarded for following

these laws. They should also be punished for creating pollution.

Finally, everybody is affected by global warming. Therefore, it is

important that governments involve individuals in the problem solving process.

For example they should encourage households to save as much energy as possible

by using more efficient light bulbs or less hot water. They should also

encourage the public to recycle, and this should be compulsory for everyone.

Another way of saving energy is by public transport systems. Governments should

spend money on public transport to make it as easy as possible for the public to

save energy.

In summary, it is clear that there are a lot of things that governments can

do to prevent global warming. They should involve companies, support scientists

and encourage individuals to protect the planet.

With the spread of the consciousness of environmental protection, the word

“low-carbon” has been very popular in life. We can find it in many aspects, such

as low-carbon products, low-carbon consumption, and low-carbon travel and so on.

Generally speaking, more and more people are advocating “low-carbon”

lifestyle.

As implied in the name, “low-carbon” lifestyle is a kind of new pattern of

lifestyle which aims to lowering the carbon dioxide emission in living as much

as possible. For example, some office workers are not proud of driving private

cars from work to home any more but pride themselves on riding or taking public
