Man’s life is a process of growing up, actually I’m standing here is a

growth.

If a person’s life must constituted by various choices, then I grow up

along with these choices.

Once I hope I can study in a college in future, however that’s passed, as

you know I come here, now I wonder what the future holds for (= what will happen

to) me.

When I come to this school, I told to myself: this my near future, all

starts here.

Following I will learn to become a man, a integrated man, who has a fine

Today is my birthday, Im going to let my father bought me a birthday cake,

but he is late from work, just bought me a duck, mom went to buy vegetables,

also bought me some stuff, by the way, grandma said a white line you want for

your birthday, my mother began to burn stove, let me put on the white line dept.

However after reading the book on January 10th, 2005, I found that it is a pirated one so that I write to you for complaint.

The book has brought me some negative effects. To begin with, much of my valuable time and energy have been wasted in reading the book since it is quite hard to identify many words in the book. Everybody knows what we should do when somebody is in trouble, from country

to country; many people helped some poor men. I am very happy to finally write

my diary, and now I will tell of a very funny story of a little girl who lived

among the camps.

Stacie wanted to live in a big hotel for the holidays, but her parents sent

her to a terrible camp instead. Stacie loved juice and chocolate milk for

breakfast, but she got water at the camp. In the afternoon Stacie wanted to

write poems, but she had to swim; there were spider webs hanging above the tents

in which Stacie slept, she hate it!

One day Stacie and her class were learning about water safety, and how

water was used for competing against fire. Finally when the teacher decided that

the children were good enough, she hired some boats and let the children ride on

it and have fun; Stacie had never planned to go on a boat. In the afternoon they

played a game; the children were divided into two groups, the red team and the

blue team; Stacie was on the blue team. The rule of the game is to shoot with

water guns to the other team’s player and find the other teams flag in the pole.

Next, the team player had to get the flag out of the pole and give it to the

teacher, and that team had won!

The teacher filled all of the children guns with water, and then they began

to play. A little boy said to Stacie, “Stacie,” he said, “You go to the left, I

will go right, and those two shall go front.” Stacie still didn’t want to play.

Stacie walked left; suddenly she saw one of the red team players. She hid behind

a tree and jumped out and shot the team player with her water gun, “This is

fun!” she cried delighted.

Soon afterwards she saw the red team flag. One of the red team players was

watching over it. Stacie shot him with her water gun, and got the flag out from

the pole. Finally she got the red flag out of the pole, she ran to her teacher

immediately shouting, “I’ve got it! I’ve got it!” the blue team had won against

the red team; Stacie was the hero of the day.

For the red of the holidays Stacie had fun, she even made new friends.

What does this story tell you? If you had not tried the fun then you will

never know the end. I love writing my diaries, and telling these stories to

大家好!

今天我想给大家交流的内容是“转换观念，形成合力”。

我们许多孩子走进成外，不仅仅只是孩子的努力，同时，也有许多家长用了近一年的时间选题，选老师，选学校。小升初考完后，比了又比，选了又选，才终于走进了成外。我做为成外的老师深感荣幸，也真诚欢迎您的孩子来到成外。但今天，我却需要新生及家长们理解的是一旦做出选择后，您就失去了选择的权利，剩下的就只有为您的选择而努力了。

社会上有许多人都说成外是“贵族学校”，您认为成外是吗?我做为成外人，明确地说我个人认为成外就是贵族学校，贵在气节，贵在品质，贵在责任。当社会需要的时候，成外人无论在哪里，都有责任站出来带领一个团队勇于面对和担当，但千万不要以为我们是社会上认为的“富二代”，你富并不等于你贵，你可能一夜暴富，却永远没有一夜暴贵的。只有当你的孩子战胜了困难，他才具有坚毅的品质;只有当你孩子经历了挫折，他才能变得睿智而成熟;只有当你孩子承受了压力后，他沉淀出来的才是气质。今天，你的孩子走进了成外，就接过了成外人的接力棒，他有责任和义务传承成外文化，今天我以成外为荣，明天成外以我为荣。

作为家长也必须转变自己的观念，您不是普通的学生家长，您是成外学生的家长，您也应该和您的孩子共同成长，和孩子一起度过他们人生中最美好的时光。

您首先必须了解成外，融入成外，和成外及成外的老师一起共同去面对孩子成长过程中的各种小插曲。作为初一的家长，首先应该了解中小学区别：

小学有6年，主要学习语文和数学，而初中压缩为3年，主要学习语文、数学、英语、物理、化学、政治、历史、地理、生物。学科增多，容量加大，要求提高，时间压缩，课时减少。这正是中学生有压力的原因，不要以为是进了成外才有压力，其实全国的中学生都一样，成外有的是更多睿智的学生，更多的机会和更高的平台。

如果中学生还像小学那样只是上课认真听讲，下课认真完成作业，那么他仅仅只是合格中学生，什么是合格呢?60分!那么什么又是优秀的中学生呢?有良好的学习习惯，有强烈的时间观念，有高效的效率概念，有严明的纪律观念，有善于思考和归纳的学习能力。

小学生要天真、活泼，而中学生要阳光、向上。初中老师不要你的天真，那是没有思想，叫无知，也不要你过分的活泼，那是没有规矩，叫无纪律。我们要学生入室即静，入座即学，因为学习是一个修行的过程，任何一个人的成功，都要学会忍受孤独和寂寞。

小学试卷就是100分，而初中语、数、外三科都是150分，考试分A，B卷，它体现了考试的两大基本功能，A卷——考查功能，它考查学生学的怎么样，老师教的怎么样，有许多人认为A卷叫基础，这种认识是错误的，A卷考查学生基础知识掌握的精不精。B卷——选拔功能，为更高一级的学校选拔学生而服务的。比如数学这门学科，成外的高中要选拔有良好数学功底的学生，为高中学习而准备。

就以这次数学调研考试为例，这一个月以来，我们就学习了《有理数及其运算》，这一章主要讲有理数的加、减、乘、除、乘方计算，它不存在您的孩子听不听得懂的问题，那么为什么学生之间分数差异大呢?初中计算并不难，就是先确定符号，再进行绝对值的计算，因为当简单的事情重复做一百次，一千次，一万次，都不出错时，那就是优秀了，而他出错就一定是没有良好的习惯了，而许多学生和家长都会简单的认为是孩子粗心了、晃了，其实不是，是他的坏习惯导致的，老师通过试卷看见的是习惯，而家长通过卷子看见的却是分数。

其次，进入初中，就意味着你的孩子进入了青春期，面临着人生的重要过度期：

青春逆反期。青春期的孩子有一些逆反是正常的。但问题是为什么你的孩子很逆反，而有别人的孩子又不那么逆反呢?如果你的孩子在你面前很逆反，说明你在孩子心中的威信降低，地位打折，是他认为家长的方法单一，观念沉旧，看见你身上太多的不足了，你的孩子从幼儿园，到小学，今天又来到了中学，他不断地更新升级，而你却从没有提速换代，他逆反很正常。

有些孩子进入初中后可能发生“早恋”现象，有的却能平稳过渡，有的闹的轰轰烈烈，甚至有的为此而跳楼呢，为什么孩子之间对“早恋”问题的处理方法差异如此之大呢?其实这些问题老师是不能完全解决的，因为他属于家源性问题，老师只能帮助协调。我们有许多初中生的家长都在观察和了解孩子是否存在“早恋”现象啦，一旦发现就不留余力地进行“围追堵截”，又遇到青春期的逆反，结果就是你的孩子在挑战教育的高度，家长面对的是教育的困惑，增加了学校的教育难度，所以这是最不可取的方法。要解决这个问题，我个人认为家长应该思考在家庭教育的过程中有没有潜移默化地渗透给孩子正确的婚恋观，这不是老师能教的，因为每个家庭面对的情况是不同的，而是主要靠家长在日常生活中去引导，老师只能配合协助解决的。譬如，当孩子看电影后某些问题你可以立即与他(她)探讨，当孩子看了小说时你也可以与他分享，当邻家孩子的故事上演时你也可以了解他的观点等等，以引导孩子形成正确的婚恋观。

做一名初中生的家长，首先树立与孩子共同成长的思想，孩子刚进入成外，要适应成外的生活、学习和管理，其实家长也要学会如何当初中生的父母了，已经不能像小学生父母那样事无巨细地关怀他，他会非常反感的。有许多孩子刚来，一天给父母打几个电话，慢慢地一周打几个，再过一段时间你会经常找不到他，而需要通过老师去找他了，这是孩子成长的必然经历。而有些家长孩子进入成外后，要么关注孩子坐第几排啦，同学又说了他什么啦，老师今天批评他的语言重不重啦，总在担心他在学校想家没有，哭没哭等等琐事，听说他哭心就很心痛，我告诉你，孩子哭很正常，他的人生学会的第一件事就是哭，你心痛忍着，没有忍住就是你还不适应。我记得我儿子在上初一时有一次他们的体育锻炼课因为种种原因被改成了数学课，班级中就有同学不满意，于是在班级的门上贴了一张“强烈抗议”的纸条，班主任发现了这张纸条，就根据字体找了几个同学进行调查，其中也包括我儿子，他从班主任的办公室出来，就哭哭啼啼地来找我，因为他认为我和班主任关系好，希望我出面打个电话说明一下，我告诉儿子，调查是一把双刃剑，如果不是你，它可以还你清白，如果就是你，你就为自己行为买单，为什么害怕调查呢?你还不够坦荡。再说班主任有权处理班级事务，此时我是学生家长，是无权干涉老师的正常工作的。其实这些矛盾都是孩子要学会面对的，不需要家长面对，要引导孩子，成功的人找方法，失败的人才找借口，梦鸽就是一个典型的事例，孩子出现问题要让他勇于面对和担当。否则，总有一天，既使军方很关注，你也很无助。

再次，家长只有配合学校教育，才能形成教育合力。

我认为学校教育是为家庭教育服务和补充的，当我看见你孩子遇事就发脾气时，我知道其实你们的家庭教育模式就是暴躁的方式居多;当我看见你的孩子因为住校而哭闹时，我知道你们的家庭教育模式以溺爱的方式居多;当我看见你的孩子经常返校就丢三落四时，我知道你们的家庭教育模式以包办的方式居多等等。每个家庭在教育自己的孩子时，都可能存在许多不足或缺陷。因此，孩子在学校反映出的许多问题，都存在于家庭教育的影子，需要家长去反思，找出问题，想办法克服，为孩子的成长营造良好的家庭环境。

家长要配合学校教育，而不是参于管理。要做到关注而不越位，帮忙而不添乱，我们现在的家长因为关注孩子的成长，就去关注老师的言谈，日常工作，甚至于发不发成绩，老师排名在第几等等问题，因为家长认为我就这一个孩子，我输不起。对的，是你输不起，而不是你孩子输不起，每一个孩子在成长的过程中都会经历失败，甚至挫折。如果今天一个小小的失败，都没有让他改变，就意味着明天有一个更大的挫折等着他，说明你的孩子需要挫折教育。甚至有个别家长因为排名在后，就去捏弄是非，组织几个家长到校长那去弹劾老师，其实每一次校长都首先要找班主任，所以我希望家长能先与班主任沟通，给我一次机会，就是给孩子一次机会。举一个真实的事例：

在带往届学生时发生这样一件事，有一个周末一个家长给我打电话，话没说几句就哭的很伤心，我知道，一定发生了什么，立即请她来我家，从她的哭诉中我明白了，是上某一学科课时，她的女儿讲话，老师招呼了一次，女儿还是不听，结果这个老师居然让旁边的一个男生打了她女儿一个耳光。周末回家女儿就把这件事告诉了妈妈，她完全无法接受，情绪也很激动，说是要去教育局告学校、告老师。我说既然你都来了，说明你还是信任我的，我帮你分析一下吧，假如你去告他，我完全能理解，因为这正是教育部和学校严查的一类违法事件，这个老师很可能下岗，然后换一个新老师。你可能以为这件事处理完了，其实不然，因为任何一个撇老师也有优生，任何一个优秀的老师也有差生，所以无论是什么样的老师，都有学生喜欢，也有学生不喜欢，那么班上喜欢这个老师的学生会怎么与你女儿相处呢?许多年以后，同学们聚会时，说起你女儿时，他们记忆最深刻的是什么?换个角度，这个老师还年轻、没有孩子，也许他还不是非常懂学生及学生父母的心，自己也可能还是父母身边一个任性的大男孩呢，如果他失去了这份工作，我相信对他一生的影响也是很大的，所以如果你相信我，就给我一周的时间，假如一周后你不满意，我陪你去找校长。在送走家长后，立即与老师联系，制定了一系列关于这个孩子的教学措施及情感补救方法，一周后的女孩的小测排名第八，她妈妈没有给我打电话，半期考试班级排名第四，家长还是没给我打电话，初三毕业一等奖学金直升我校高中。而这个老师也成长为我们学校一名成熟而优秀的老师。其实这样的事例年年都有发生，每个人站的角度不同，处理问题的方法就不一样，结果也不同，我真的希望家长们能明白：给老师一次机会，就是给孩子们一次机会，毕竟大家的愿望是一致的。

这些年总有个别家长因为种种原因而非常挑剔老师，现在的老师真的不好当呀，一个不小心就又被几个家长联合起来去校长那里弹劾了。我的孩子是高一时才转到成外的，第一个月月考，孩子数学150分的题考了23分，周末回家后，我们问他适应新学校吗?他就只说数学老师说话他听不懂，因为要说方言，我爱人立即说国家没有规定高中生的老师还必须说普通话，再说即使有方言也是四川话，有什么听不懂的，将来你离开四川去外地，那么外地人就必须都说四川话你才听得懂吗?你自己要明白到一个新环境只能是你去适应新环境，而不是环境适应你，所以学生必须学会适应老师，而不是老师适应学生，给你一周时间适应数学老师的课。第二天我立即与数学老师沟通，针对孩子数学底子薄制定了一系列的学习规划，一周后孩子的爸爸问他能听懂数学课吗?孩子说可以听懂了，于是我们认认真真督促孩子执行了三年与数学老师共同制定学习规划，高考时孩子的数学考了108分，所以只有当孩子学会适应了老师，他才能听懂老师传授的知识。

当然，假如你们认为自己的能量足够大，你可以选择去告，但凭我的经验，可以明确地告诉你们，在你的坚持不懈的努力下，至少需要一年，你可能弹劾掉老师，但我要告诉你其实学校一旦决定换老师，是对老师最大的保护。可是你知道吗?在这一年中你精力的偏离，内心天平的偏差掩盖了孩子的问题的存在，而你的孩子又干什么呢?他快乐，他自由，他飞翔，他不必尽力，因为今天的这一切他已经找到为他买单的人了，而他初中只有三年，你们用一年时间教会了他什么?他学到了什么?我相信他一定能懂得“有问题，找父母，我有强大的爹和妈，我怕谁!”而新接手的老师明白，要教这个班，先学会自我保护，来吧，剩下的二年会怎样……所以，当你的孩子对你说××老师我不喜欢时，其实他在暗示你我在这门学科上要开始“放水”了，对老师的的要求要“打折”了，你意识了吗?此时，家长应该听完他的理由，毫不犹豫指出他的问题，若需要及时与老师或班主任沟通，我相信老师是能解并帮助协调的。当你的孩子某门学科成绩不理想时，就说明他在这门学科上要多花时间，多下功夫，在你人生的路上总有你不喜欢的人，不喜欢的作业，不喜欢的学科，不喜欢的事，这些都很正常，但假如因为你的不喜欢而放弃，这就不正常了。

最后，学习的目的是什么?

我个人认为学习的目的是为了“改变”，改变你的观念，才能提升你的能力，就有机会上更高的平台。所以现代的学生是不能“孤芳自赏”的，首先要学会合作和分享，比如，我的数学课堂上每天都有一名学生轮流讲一道题，这既锻炼了讲题学生的能力，又让听题的同学们分享到不同的思维方法和观点，等到孩子们到初三时，经常都会让我感受到在同学们身上学到了许多新思维、新方法，所以当老师是快乐的，常常是教会了学生的同时也顺便把自己教会了。让孩子在分享中学习，才能在肯定中成长，也才有机会真正体会到学习的乐趣，将来才能懂得改变观念的真谛。

我们要做到慢养孩子，静待花开!

I am a student of Class Seven, Grade Two of our school. I am writing to

share some advices with you. We all know that study is the most important task

for senior students, so it’s necessary for us to spend most of our time in

study. However, proper rest is necessary for us as well. But in our school, we

only have a short night to rest, which I think it’s not good to us. I did a

survey in our school that collect the ideas about having a longer rest every

week. Almost all students say that they need more time to rest and relax.

Therefore, according the opinions of our students, I would like to advise that

set an afternoon and a night for students to have a good rest. Proper rest can

thirty college students across the country attended the tenth 21st century

cup national english speaking contest in beijing on april 10. eventually， xia

peng， from nanjing university was named the champion. the second and third

places went to zhang jing， a sophomore from china foreign affairs university，

and zhang a xu， from hong kong polytechnic university， respectively. more than

1000 college students in beijing are lucky birds to listen to the speeches on

the spot in friendship hotel.

just make to it the finals， they had to get past 60 others speaking on “the

impact of globalization on traditional chinese values”。 that was at the

semi-final on april 8-9. what will chinese college students think about the

impact? each contestant had his own take on the subject. xia summed up

globalization by saying： “it’s just controversial and hard to say whether it is

good or bad.” xia took the old wall of his city， nanjing， as a metaphor. he

spoke about the conflict over whether to protect the old walls or tear them down

to represent the conflict of ideas. he suggested that people protect the wall as

a valuable relic while tearing down the “intangible walls” of their minds that

prevent communication. while some other students are more focusing on the impact

of globalization on family relations， attitudes towards love， and

job-hunting.

over the past 10 years， the national english speakingcompetition has given

contestants a chance to speak on a variety of topics closely related to their

lives. chinese students become more open-minded and receive various ideas and

thinking over the decade. diversity becomes more obvious on campus， students

have more opportunities to express and show themselves. it’s not an easy task

for the contestants to win through the fierce competition. owning to their

passion， hard work and persistence， they finally succeeded in the contest.

liu xin， the first champion of the national contest， is now an anchorperson

of cctv-9. recalling the passion of study on campus， she said： “when you want to

express your idea by a foreign language without finding a right way， you’re

really upset. then you have to encourage yourself， and after a long term of

bitterness， suddenly you find you get the right way with joy.” with the champion

title in 21st century cup， liu attended the international public speaking

competition in london in may 1996 afterward and got the first prize

historically.

the winner in _ surprised the audience， since she came from accounting

major instead of english major. gu qiubei， then 22 years old， was a senior in

shanghai foreign studies university. while being asked whether she had some good

methods to learn english， she said： “learn english with passion and enthusiasm.”

attracted by the greatness of english language， gu even changed her major from

accounting to english in her postgraduate study. the most important issue in

english learning process she pointed out is personal interests. only people

There were actually, valuable animals in the world; they are not only

pandas or other animals sorts; but lizards too.

A lizard can be a very good animal; it can camouflage, and not to be seen,

some like in Africa can even switch color; some are even in China. Besides

camouflaging and color changing, some even have super strength, some stories in

the future, have many stories; like this one:

A boy once found an egg, and didn’t know what was in it, and so left it in

his room to keep it safe. For a short time he thought that it was a chicken, at

another hand it was a duck… Just as he was about to speak up, he found out that

he was wrong, for the egg hatched, and out came a little green guy; and that was

the first lizard in the world.

The boy found out about this of course, and was not pleased at all. He

thought that it was just what was on the TV show, a toy egg, except it can move.

It was an alive toy, but the boy didn’t notice that it was actually an animal:

When he was just about to send him away to sell and earn money, he found only

his regular toys on the ground, but not the lizard; that was when the lizard

used his camouflage.

And so you see, a lizard: Like the one in the story, can use its camouflage

to save his life. Now let us continue this story:

The boy was astonished, then he turned back, and then turned to where the

lizard stood, then he found him; he thought this was a sort of magic trick, at

last he went to watch TV; because he thought that he could find out something

about that lizard. But he found his feet stuck under a big shelf. Suddenly he

found the lizard come here, and lift up the toy easily; that was when he used

his super strength…

There are still many stories of lizards, but now you have noticed the

basics of lizards. Not let us finish the story:

The boy thought that this lizard was amazing, he tickled him, and then he

lay down and squealed. The boy knew at once that this was no ordinary toy, this

was a real life animal. He was more than astonished, for he didn’t actually know

that this was an amazing animal. When he finished school the next day, he went

home. He found a coloring pencil and to color a picture for fun; but he didn’t

I understand your well-respected college offers a number of places to overseas students every year, and I am writing to enquire about the application procedure.

I am at present a student at Mary High School, Hong Kong, where I have been studying for the past five years. I passed the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination last year with distinctions in English and History, and credits in Economics and English Literature. My advanced-level subjects are History, Economics and English Literature. In addition to these subjects, "Use of English" is also a compulsory subject because a pass in English is a minimum requirement for admission to most faculties of the University of Hong Kong.

Apart from academic work, I have been actively involved in extra-curricular activities. I am Chairman of the English Club and I have represented my school in many inter-school contests.

Hello, everyone! I’m Zhou Kexin. Today I am so glad to share my trip to

Changzhou Spring City with you. It was a very pleasant trip for me.

This Nation’s Day, I went to Changzhou Spring City with my parents. It’s

the first time for me to go there. I was looking forward to it for a long time.

My dream was coming true. After one and a half hour’s drive, we arrived. We saw

a lot of old buildings. They are very special. The most interesting place was

the zoo inside. There are many animals, such as, tigers, elephants, zebras and

monkeys. Monkeys are my favorite animals.They are our good friends. Later I went

to the Children s playground, it’s children’s world. I played happily with my

parents. Finally, we watched 4D movies, It was very exciting。

How times flies! It’s time to go home. I had to say good-bye to everything

here.

This was a pleasant trip for me.

As you know, Nanjing has many places of interest to see, to discover, and

with its magnificent night view, and Dr. Sun Yetsens Mausoleum. With all its

universities, Nanjing is a cultural center, offering an abundance of artistic

and musical performances. Its also a city of beautiful gardens and parks, such

as the Xuanwu Lake Park. With all these features, we will have a fun-filled

week, especially that in early-October, there are many sunny and mild days for

outdoor activities. So, I would suggest visiting these places first, and

deciding on the others as our week develops.

Finally, since at this time of the year the weather gets a little chilly in

the evening, I would suggest that you bring some warm clothing with you. Also,

as there will be crowds of people at the stations and on the trains, you need to

be very careful with your belongings!

Everybody loves reading right, well here is a story that tells you how a

little boy didn’t like reading; at last became so nervous in his show that he

had to read a book that soon became a famous writer.

There was once a little boy that loved to play, but the only thing he

didn’t like was to read a book. When he was bored of playing, he did not go to

read a book, but to play video games. One day his parents became sick of this

habit and so thought of a plan to make him like reading.

And so one day when school was over, the boy’s parents went to his school,

and found his teacher and said, “Dear teacher, I am wondering if by any chance

you could help us with a little small problem.”

The teacher agreed, and so they told them their problem. The teacher

remembered all that she needed to do, and waited until Friday arrived. When it

was the last class of the day, she told the whole class that each one of them is

going to put on a show for the whole school. The little boy thought that that

was a great idea. After he had finished school, he immediately ran home to get

materials which were toys and prepared the other things too. When he was ready,

he began to make up a routine. But he couldn’t think of anything except playing;

when it was the day before it was time to put on the show, the little boy still

didn’t come up with any routine; and so he thought and thought. When his parents

said that it was time to go to school to put on the show, the little boy was as

nervous as a chicken in a forest with a wolf beside it.

His parents said that if he couldn’t think of any routine then he will just

have to read a book. The boy had no choice, when he finished he came up with a

routine he went to school just in time for the show.

He loved making a routine by then, from that time on he loved reading, and

when he was bored of playing he began to read.

After and few years he became famous and was very proud of that day’s

lesson.
