Halloween

When the harvest moon rises on October 31, little hobgoblins, spooky ghosts, ghoulish witches and gremlins — their young faces hidden behind grotesque masks — will go forth to frighten friends and neighbors and to threaten them with "Trick or Treat ".

Halloween (AII Hallows Eve) as the name implies, is a nighttime holiday, the one night in the year when the childs world turns to pure fantasy. Teenagers have their fun playing tricks that sometimes get rather rough. They throw eggs or tomatoes at passing motorists , mark up windows and windshields with hard-to-erase candle wax, roll pumpkins down long hills, carry away porch furniture and garbage can covers, engrave graffiti on fences, or do whatever bad things occur to them as they go around looking for ways to "let off steam". Police officers are alert but they only arrest those caught doing real damage. In most communities there are school dances or block parties to help redirect the energies of the youthful pranksters. Business firms offer prizes for the best costumes and recreation directors help plan the party, but the young people themselves take charge of the entertainment and the decorations — a necessary part of Halloween. Dried corn stalks, pumpkin faces, and piles of apples create the harvest atmosphere; and cutouts of witches on their brooms, goblins, ghosts and black cats symbolize the witchcraft aspect of the holiday. The freshments — apple cider, popcorn and pumpkin pie, and witches made of spicy ginger cookies — also carry out both themes.

There is an occasional adult Halloween Dance in a bright orange and black setting, with paper-made black cats, witches and grinning skeletons floating above the dance floor. But Halloween has become mainly a young peoples holiday — and the younger the child the more exciting he finds it.

The alley was so slippery that I walked with difficultly. Suddenly, I slipped and fell down, water in the barrel totally poured down on the ground. I stepped on the platform carefully. Never Put Off Until Tomorrow Whst You Can Do Today

We have been told that mever put lff untill tomorrow what you can do today since childhood. However, there are still many people who like putting offthc things thcv should do today until tomorrow. They have no plans for their work and their time. As a result, they will not accomplish their goals in the end.

For cxample, one Sunday I felt so tired after having a football match that I did not finish my homework even at night. I thought I could get up earlier to go to school the next morning so that I could finish my homework before class. But the next morning I was not able to get to school in time because of the traffic jam. I was punished by the teacher.

It taught me a lesson. From then on I made a determination that I would niver put off anything important until the next day. Please remember: Work today, for you dont know how much you may be hindered tomorrow. Seize the present day and trust the tomorrow as little as possible.

Today is Qingming Festival. Its a traditional Chinese Tomb Sweeping Festival. Dad drives grandma, mom, my brother and I to Xianyou home together. My hometown is on a big mountain near Xianyou County town. After 1 hours of winding roads, we finally arrived at the destination -- my familiar hometown in dreams.

As soon as we got off the train, we could smell a fresh country smell, surrounded by green hills, and the whole countryside was so peaceful. We walked a few minutes to see an old house covered with mud, a place where Grandpa, grandma and Dad had lived before, and only Granny and grandfather lived there. As soon as I entered the door, I saw grandpa and grandma. They were elderly people. They smiled when they saw our arrival. After greeting grandpa and grandma, we are going to sweep grandpas grave. We climbed the hillside behind the house. Sunny, bright spring days, both sides began to busy road. The small green grass shows the small head, the busy ant in the spring transportation, the spring bamboo shoots also sneak out the small head, the mountain path is really interesting, while the chicken, the duck and us play, and the little sheep and the puppy race us in a moment. The distant green wheat fields and golden rape flowers add a bright color to the hometown of spring. After a while, we came to Grandpas tomb. My father took three bow to Grandpas gravestone with my mother and me. How I wish Grandpa would live beside us and enjoy this wonderful life with us.

Today I found time was a cruel thing. Whatever man is, time always goes on.It won‘t stay to wait for somebody. You can‘t use anything to exchange time. Time is also a fair thing. Although you have a lot of money or you enjoy high reputation, time won‘t leave them more. Today I found I hadn‘t enough time. Although I have 50-day holiday, but I found I had a lot of things to do.

I had a lot of homework to do and I had something necessary to do.
