Whats more, the Christmas decorations that some people put on their windows and in gardens were just amazing. On one night, we went out in our car for a "tour of lights". There was one street that was so famous for its lights that it got its way into the local paper. We had a hard time finding the well-hidden street, but it turned out to be worth the effort. Lights shone brightly in front of nearly every house, on trees, bushes, doors, windows…everywhere, taking different shapes, making it seem almost like daytime. Huge inflatable figures in the front gardens were waving to us: there were Santa Clauses2, of course, chuckling merrily away; and there were also other Christmas figures, like Rudolph3--the red-nosed reindeer--with his red nose gleaming ever so brightly; even Bart Simpson--a character in the famous comedy The Simpsons--had joined the jolly party, wearing a Santas hat. The street set off a lot of "ooh"s and "aah"s inside the car.4 When we left, there was a line of cars in the street, all there to see the lights.

When I go to high school, our school has the rule to ask students to live

in the dormitory. Most students live with their parents before, so we all feel

excited and afraid of the group life. Luckily, I have three nice roommates. Soon

we become close friends. Living with others, we learn to do the house work, such

as everyone needs take turn to clean the floor, when we have something good to

eat, we will share with each other. The group life makes us have less private

space, but we enjoy the moment when we have the little talk before sleep, the

Table tennis is one of the most popular sports in China. It’s my favorite,

too. It’s a good way of exercise, and it’s easy to play. You don’t need many

skills. I often play table tennis after class. Most of my classmates like it. So

we always have partners. But if you want to play well, it’s not so easy. You

must focus on your gesture, your hands and your steps. I want to be better, so I

practice it very often. I have my own teacher to teach me. I work hard on

it.

July 1 is the 15th anniversary of HKSARs return to motherland. Many celebrations were held to mark this special day, such as demonstrations, matches, lion performances and so on. President Hu visited to Hong Kong on June 29 and then attended various celebrating actiivities in Hong Kong. He visited to the general public and cared about their lives.

The Hong Kong citizens said that after return to motherland, they began to realize the concept of "Motherland" and great changes have had in Hong Kong. Besides, this special day also attracted many people from mainland to visited to Hong Kong. They said that they wanted see the changes happened in Hong Kong.

On the stroke of midnight, as July 1st, 1997 begins, the exciting moment is coming -- Hong Kong will return. Now the whole nation is in jubilation. All my family sat in front of TV to watch the Hong Kong handover ceremony. Seeing the Chinese national flag rising and Chinese president making a speech, I was deeply moved.

As is well known, Hong Kong was originally a part of China in history.After the Opium War, the British imperialists stole it from the corrupt Qing government and made it a colony of Britain. But from now on Hong Kong will no longer be a colony but "a Special Administrative Region" (SAR) of the Peoples Republic of China. Its return owes to our powerful country.She is becoming politically and economically powerful day by day. Im determined to study hard and make contributions to our countrys development in the future.

在午夜钟声敲响的时候,7月1日,1997年开始,激动人心的时刻来了,香港将返回。现在举国欢腾。我所有的家人坐在电视前观看香港政权交接仪式。看到中国国旗升起、国家主席江泽民发表讲话,我被深深地打动了。

众所周知,香港历史上原本是中国的一部分。鸦片战争后英帝国主义者把它从腐败的清政府和英国的殖民地。但从现在起香港不再是殖民地而是“特别行政区”(SAR)的中华人民共和国。香港的回归归功于我们强大的国家。她是在政治和经济上正日益强大。我决心努力学习,将来为我们国家的发展做出贡献。
