九月的一天，阳光明媚，微风习习。温哥华繁华的街道上，车水马龙，一片热闹的景象。巡警如往常一样，正在协助交警指挥交通。忽然，他发觉六只憨态可掬的小鸭子，正在鸭妈妈的带领下，旁若无人、大摇大摆地横穿马路。

车辆只好停下，等着这个高傲的“部队”穿过马路。后面的车子毫不知情，不断地发出嘈杂的喇叭声与呐喊声，催着车辆尽快通行。巡警这时早已看不下去了，吹响了口哨，警告后面车辆停止发声并做出解释。

正当鸭妈妈刚要迈出最后一步踏上街道，突然，几只小鸭失足跌入了路旁的入水道，发出了

“嘎嘎嘎”的求救声。鸭妈妈循声找去，看见自己的宝贝已经掉入了“疾速瀑布”——下水道。看见自己的宝贝马上要掉入水管道，鸭妈妈在危急时刻，沉着冷静，急急忙忙地走到巡警的面前“嘎嘎嘎嘎”地叫。巡警一脸糊涂，根本没有听懂鸭妈妈说的话。鸭妈妈见巡警无动于衷，只好用扁嘴把巡警一步步地拉到下水道边。

巡警跟着鸭妈妈来到下水道口，低头一看，呀!几只小鸭子正在下水道里逆流而上，为了帮助自己不掉入水管中，但他们可惜体力不支，也在逆流时慢慢地靠近水管。情况紧急，巡警伸手就去救几只小鸭子，这时鸭宝宝们体力透支得已要掉入水管。在这迅雷不及掩耳之时，巡警不顾水脏跳入了下水道，堵住了管口，救出了小鸭们。鸭妈妈十分感激，连忙让小鸭们表示感谢。谢完，鸭妈鸭宝又开始了长途旅行。

看着这个情景，我也不禁想到：地球属于这颗星球所有生命，动物与人类是地球共同的主人，我们应该和它们和谐相处。让我们从小做起，保护野生动物，关心野生动物，让更多人都能投入到保护野生动物的行动中来。

老虎是生活在食物链顶端的一种动物，它关系到整个生物链的平衡。因此，保护老虎不单单是保护老虎这么一个物种的问题，而是保护整个食物链完整性的问题。

目前分布于我国的四个老虎亚种（东北虎、华南虎、孟加拉虎和印支虎）中，惟有华南虎是中国独有的。19世纪以前，华南虎曾经广泛分布于以我国东南部为主的国内广大地区。20世纪后，由于自然环境变迁、战乱纷扰及人类活动影响等多方面的原因，华南虎的分布区域不断受到挤压，分布地域面积逐渐缩校直至上个世纪80年代以前，由于捕猎和砍伐森林等活动，使华南虎赖以生存的栖息地受到破坏，华南虎的数量急剧减少。

据以往调查估算，目前中国处于野生状态的华南虎仅有20至30只，养殖在中国动物园里的数量也仅有60只，这仪数量比大熊猫还要稀少。在最近的一次野外考察中，甚至没有发现活的野生华南虎个体，华南虎已接近物种灭绝的边缘。

国家林业局全国野生动植物研究与发展中心的副研究员陆军介绍说，由于动物园中的数量有限，用于交配的华南虎之间的血缘关系越来越亲近，目前有的新产虎崽已经开始出现短尾（尾巴短一结）的现象。毫无疑问，如果任由这一趋势发展下去，在不久的将来，这一世界最濒危动物将不复存在。

透过虎类这一典型的例子，我们更应该保护动物，从自己做起，从他人做起，从身边的小事做起。让我们行动起来保护野生动物，共建和平家园世界将变得更美好。

大熊猫是世界上最珍贵的动物之一，主要分布在我国的四川、甘肃、陕西省的个别崇山峻岭地区，数量十分稀少，属于国家一类保护动物，称为“国宝”。

它不但被世界野生动物协会选为会标，而且还常常担负“和平大使”的任务，带着中国人民的友谊，远渡重洋，到国外攀亲结友，深受各国人民的欢迎。大熊猫身体胖软，头圆颈粗，耳小尾短，四肢粗壮，身长约1.5米，肩高60-70厘米左右，体重可达100-180千克。特别是那一对八字形黑眼圈，犹如戴着一副墨镜，非常惹人喜爱。 大熊猫的祖先是食肉动物，现在却偏爱吃素，主要以吃箭竹为生。

一只成年的大熊猫每天要吃20千克左右的鲜竹。有时，它也会开一次“荤”，捕抓箭竹林里的竹鼠美餐一顿，甚至大摇大摆闯入居民住宅，偷吃食物。大熊猫性情孤僻，喜欢独居，昼伏夜出，没有固定的居住地点，常常随季节的变化而搬家。春天一般待在海拔3000米以上的高山竹林里，夏天迁到竹枝鲜嫩的阴坡处，秋天搬到2500米左右的温暖的向阳山坡上，准备度过漫长的冬天。

每年的四五月份是大熊猫的繁殖季节，雄、雌大熊猫难得同居在一起。但5月一过，便又各奔东西。雌性大熊猫怀孕4-5个月左右，就急着寻找树洞或石穴作为“产房”，它每胎产1-2仔。刚生下的幼仔重量只有150克左右，相当于妈妈体重的1‰。

可是，一个月后体重可达2千克，3个月就能长到五六千克。熊猫妈妈常把小熊猫搂在怀中，轻轻抚摸，外出时也把它衔在嘴里，或用背驮着，亲亲热热，形影不离。等到小熊猫五六个月大时，妈妈就开始教它爬树、游泳、洗澡和剥食竹子等本领。两年后，小熊猫才离开母亲，开始独立的生活。大熊猫的寿命一般为20-30年。 大熊猫的家族非常古老。

大约在一百万年前，它们遍布我国的陕西、山西和北京等地区，在云南、四川、浙江、福建、台湾等省也有它们的踪迹，现在留下来的数量很少，成为科学家研究生物进化的珍贵的“活化石”。 迄今为止，全世界200多个国家和地区都没有几乎濒临绝迹的大熊猫，只有在我国的四川、陕西、甘肃部份地区的深山老林中才能找到它们的身影。

目前全世界的大熊猫总数仅1000只以下，而且数量在不断减少。 根据科学统计有78％的雌性大熊猫不孕，有90％的雄性大熊猫不育，这就给大熊猫的繁殖带来了许多困难。 在动物学上，大熊猫属食肉目。据考证，大熊猫的古代名称有貘、白豹、虞等。在200多万年前的更生世早期到100万年前的更生世中晚期，大熊猫已经广布于我国南半部，组成了大熊猫----剑齿象动物群；今天该动物群的许多种已经绝灭，而大熊猫却一直活下来，所以大熊猫有“活化石”之称。

Important to save water

Water is a kind of liquid. It has no taste or smell. It is transparent, too. Water is useful and is important to us. Why? For example, we use water to water the plants. We use water to wash our face or to have a bath. We drink water or we will die…Water is also very important for China. There are 2.8 hundred millions of steres of water in China, but everyone can only use 2300 steres. It is only twenty–five per sent in the world.

Not too long ago, there was a man called Jacques Cousteau. He loved the beautiful colors, and the beautiful fish in the sea. However, when he returned some years later, the colorful coral reefs were dead and grey because the factory near the sea poured waste water into the sea. Jacques Cousteau decided to tell people how important it was to save the environment under the sea. He started the“ Cousteau Society ” to help protect life in the sea. Now there are over 30000 members all over the world. Since water covers most of the earth, Cousteau knew that we should keep the sea clean. We should not litter the sea, and should clean up the dirty parts. As water is very important to our environment, he encouraged everyone to take part in protecting our lakes, rivers, sea and ocean.

There are still a few people who are not protecting the water now in the world. For example, some factories pour waste things into the rivers, lakes or into the sea near by. The water there has become very dirty and we can’t use them at all. Although there are seventy–five per sent of water in the world, we can only use fresh water, that there is only a little. So we should use little water when we need to use it. For example, I do not use too much water when I am washing my face or having a bath… It is important for us to keep the water clean. You may ask yourself, have I ever poured or thrown dirty things into the water? If your answer is “No”, that means you have already helped to protect the environment. It is our duty to protect the environment. You may ask yourself again, have I ever helped to clean up the water? If your answer is “Yes”, that means that you have already done something useful to improve the water. If we use up all the water, it is difficult for us to get it from anywhere, including the universe. It is terrible to think that people are too thirsty to live! 世界上已有很多的动物已经灭绝于我们人类之手，旅鸽就是其中之一：终年无忧无虑的生活在北美大陆上，每到迁徙的季节，它们成千上万遮天蔽日。当欧洲人刚踏上北美大陆时，这里有50多亿只旅鸽。可是欧洲人来到这里之后，由于旅鸽肉味鲜美，开始遭到他们大规模的围猎。从此，旅鸽也就一步步走向了灭绝。当时鸽肉在市场上轻易买到，密执安州一个季节里就捕获了750万只旅鸽。曾经，一个俱乐部一周就杀了5万只旅鸽，有人一天便杀了500只。他们把这些罪恶一一记录下来——那是他们比赛的成绩。甚至有人想出这样的方法——把一只旅鸽的眼睛缝上，绑在树枝上，张开罗网。它的同伴们闻讯赶来，于是一一落网。有时候，一次就能捉到上千只。这个方法一定传播得很广 。就这样，在不到100年的时间里，旅鸽从几十亿猛减到濒临灭绝。

旅鸽： 1900年野生灭绝；1914年在美国华盛顿国家博物馆的展厅里，有一只旅鸽站在一根树枝上，长长的嘴，尖尖的尾巴，展翅欲飞。但它永远告别了蓝天自云。它再也不能动，不能叫，不能吃东西了。这是世界上最后一只旅鸽，而且是一只标本。那双木然的眼睛，怅望着这个世纪的人们，是怎样的捕杀它的同类，是怎么剥它的皮抽它的筋剜它的肉的。

如果我们人类再不制止，生态就会不平衡，世界的资源就循环，我们人类也会灭绝。

虽然有些动物会伤害我们人类，但那是我们人类破坏了它们的生存环境和食物才导致的。只要我们保护环境、保护动物，让动物和我们一起生活在这个美丽的家园----地球，那我们的生活不就更美好。

There used to be many kinds of birds which are pests for protected crops. They are good friends at present.But the number of the birds has been greatly reduced because too much poison is used. As the result, the numberof the pests has increased.The peasants spent a lot of money and time in killing them every year.But it is still hard to eliminate them.Now you can see how poor it is for us to protect wild animals and to keep the balance of nature.Only that everyone know these can we live on a beautiful lives.
