成吉思汗

Genghis Khan, "Khan of Khans", was the great leader of Mongolians. At the

end of 12th century, he united Mongolian tribes and challenged other powers to

expand his huge Mongolian empire, which extended from South China to the Caspian

Sea.

In 1277, Khan attacked the West Xia Kingdom (presently Ningxia) and

encountered strong resistance. He died of disease and age. The great emperor was

later buried secretly according to Mongolian custom. It says that after the

burial 2,000 men were slaughtered by some 800 soldiers who were in turn executed

so that the location of the real tomb remains a secret.

There are four sacrifice ceremonies held annually to commemorate the great

hero and leader of the Mongolian people. The ceremony, held on March 21st on

lunar calendar, is the grandest. After the ceremony, horse racing, archery and

wrestling are held as entertainment.

Fall is the third season of a year . There are three months in fall : July

, August and september . The weather in fall is cool , Sometimes it’s windy . I

I am pleased to invite you to a luncheon, to be held by the Monterey Institute of International Studies on October 12, 2006 at noon, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the death of General Stilwell and in honor of his daughter, Mrs. Nancy Stilwell Easterbrook. There is a small road near my home. I can go this road to school, so that I

can reduce time. one night, as it was dark, I felt a little scared, but I still

Recently I have had a discussion about the ways to learn English better

with Jim, a student from Britain. In his opinion, the best ways are reading

English newspapers and talking with friends. He also believes that sometimes

seeing English films isnt a bad way.

I quite agree with him. However, I think, we can make flashcards. In this

way , we can memorize a lot of English words. Besides, we can look for a pen pal

from an English-speaking country so that we can get to know something about his

or her country. Finally, learning English grammar well is also a great help.

Thank you for a rapid response to our invitation. Enclosed you will find an outline of events to take place during International Week here at the University of Montana. In summer, the weather is hot. We should drink more water, because we sweat

a lot in hot days. But I prefer to eat fruits. Watermelon, apple and grape are

my most favorites. They are all rich in water. There is a saying that an apple a

Youth Day (青年节) in the Peoples Republic of China is on May 4. It was

established in December 1949 by the Government Administration Council to

commemorate the beginning of the May Fourth Movement in 1919. This day is known

Chinese intellectual revolution and sociopolitical reform movement (1917 –

21)。 In 1915 young intellectuals inspired by Chen Duxiu began agitating for the

reform and strengthening of Chinese society through acceptance of Western

science, democracy, and schools of thought, one objective being to make China

strong enough to resist Western imperialism. On May 4, 1919, reformist zeal

found focus in a protest by Beijings students against the Versailles Peace

Conferences decision to transfer former German concessions in China to Japan.

After more than a month of demonstrations, strikes, and boycotts of Japanese

goods, the government gave way and refused to sign the peace treaty with

Germany. The movement spurred the successful reorganization of the Nationalist

Party and gave birth to the Chinese Communist Party. See also Treaty of

Hi, this is Lisa. I am going to have a busy weekend. On Saturday, I’m going

I do not like teamwork in most time. Because I think it is hard for the

whole team to hold the same view. It is a waste of time to argue with each other

then make a compromise. But recently I have really seen the great power of

teamwork.

Last week we had a play competition. Because of some reasons, we had not

decided the play two days before the competition. Our monitor called the actors

and actresses who had been decided together. Then they think about every plot

together. To my surprise, it seemed that everybody had his or her good idea.

They gave up their weekend to practice the play. Finally our team won good marks

and were given the opportunity to participate in the final competition.

Teamwork is really powerful. No matter learning in school or working in the
