The Lunar New Year  a great occasion to the Chinese people. It lasts about the first four days of the year， during which people do not work except for the workers on duty. Students do not go to school， and shops are closed.

Several days before the new year， people begin to prepare. Farmers kill pigs， sheep， cocks and hens. City dwellers buy meat fh and vegetables. Houses are cleaned; coupletsare posted on the doors. Colourful lanterns are hung at the gate.

On the eve of the new year， each family has its members gatherd together and eats a family reunion dinner. After the meal they watch TV until the clock strickes twelve. Then every family sets off long strings of small firecrackers and other fire works to welcome the new year. On the first day of the new year， almost everyone  dressed in h or her best. 星期天可是一个大好的日子，我跟妈妈一起骑车去南郊登山。一路上，我们兴奋极了，把车骑得飞快。马路两边鲜花遍地，一朵朵小花聚集在一起，像亲密无间的伙伴。微风一吹，花儿就泛起了五彩缤纷的花浪，可美丽了!

我躺在绿油油的、软软的草地上，微风吹在我的脸上，多舒服啊!我站了起来俯视着山坡。只见，在陡峻危立的绝壁上，一株株倔强的青松穿过白色的薄雾，在微风中婆娑起舞，好像有意向人们炫耀它那妩媚娇美的英姿。再看，满山坡的向露的乱石，在阳光下面更加显得苍老丑陋，仿佛一些癞疤的秃头似的。

通过这次登山活动，不仅锻炼了我们的意志，还让我懂得了面对困难时，要顽强不屈，坚持不懈，才能取得最后的胜利。

暑假的一天，我们全家带上登山的工具和烧烤的器材踏上了登山的路程。

“路可真远啊”，我不由得发出感慨。我们从早晨七点多出发，开车一直到了下午一点钟，终于到达了我们的目的地---南阳老界岭。刚从车上下来，就听到林中传来的声声鸟鸣，从山上传出的阵阵林涛。“啊，真是一个人间仙境啊!”我在心里默默的赞叹。“走，我们先从这座山开始”爸爸指着远处的一座大山说。就这样，我们便上路了。

到了山脚下，我发现爬山的人有许多。我们走在路上，我心中暗想，“这山路也没有那么难走啊‘’。在山的路两边，每隔一段就会出现一户山村农家。他们十分好客，在每间房子外都会有石桌子石凳子。石桌上放着一壶热腾腾的茶水供游人们休息。我们继续走着，这时有的登山队已经开始在心里打退堂鼓，渐渐退了回去。路慢慢的变得陡峭，附近很少有农家了。“哎呀”，我叫了一声，就连空中飞翔的鸟儿也动了一下，妈妈走过把我扶了起来。我揉了揉摔痛的胳膊，嘴里嘟囔道：“什么东西啊?这么硬”爸爸走过来看了看，从地上扒出来一块洁白如雪的石头。“这是什么?”我问道。爸爸说：“这种石头叫做石英石，是一种无机矿物质，十分的坚硬。”听了爸爸的讲解使我了解了“石英”这种石头。山顶上云雾缥缈，让我不禁想起想起会“当凌绝顶，一览纵山小”这段诗句。仿佛自己就是一个齐天大圣，脚底踩着筋斗云。

星期日，天气晴朗，我们决定去塔子山进行一次登山活动。一同前往的有四岁的高宇骐、五岁的王简、十岁的我，还有爸爸妈妈和大姨。不一会儿，我们浩浩荡荡来到了塔子山脚下。我仰头望去，一条狭窄的山路笔直地通往山顶，没有阶梯，也没有扶手，只有一些登山者踩出来的脚印。嗨，这也算路！爸爸立即对妈妈说：“看来我们要做好背两个小家伙的准备啦！他们怕是爬不上山顶。”我不以为然，往泥印上一踩，脚还没站稳就滑了下来。这看来是不能轻视的呀。

该下山了，爸爸给我们打起了“预防针”：“上山容易下山难，大家要多加小心啊。”我们每人捡了根树枝当拐杖，这回爸爸走在了最前面为我们开路，并不断地提醒我们要小心。路实在是太陡太滑了，连我也不敢再调皮，死盯着脚下，寻找最好的落脚点。我发现下山不能再踩那些脚印了，得踩路边的杂草，这样不容易摔跤。呀，不好了，高宇骐要摔倒了，前面的王简赶紧伸过手说：“哥哥来帮你！”结果他自己要滑下去了，使劲拉着高宇骐的手往下溜，吓得高宇骐大喊：“别拉我，别拉我！”逗得我们哈哈大笑，笑过之后继续赶路。一路上只听见“扑通”的摔跤声和欢笑声。

到了山脚，我们检查了一下伤势。爸爸为了保护两个小家伙，摔了两跤，王简和高宇骐成了泥人，但全是自己爬下来的，没要人背，妈妈和大姨的屁股上都留下了大团泥渍，走路一瘸一拐的。我的伤势最轻，只是手臂上擦破了点皮而已，大家一致公认此次爬山活动，我的表现最好，这让我得意不已。

there were traffic jams almost everywhere, people waited in long queues at bus-stops:and taxi-stands? looking entirely exhausted.tempers flared when people gotpushed or if someone else cut the queue.impatient drivers honked at each other every now and then.

the railway station was congested with travelers who rushed to the platform like a swarm of bees and then squeezed their way into the train for seats as if there would be no tomorrow.

in the restaurants, tables were shared. a platoon of waiters filed out from the kitchen armed with various containers of eatables. orders were taken feverishly and then shouted across to the kitchen. excitement reigned everywhere as waiters ran hither and thither to fill the orders.

爬呀爬，刚刚爬到一个夹道旁，一股股风迎面吹来，凉快极了，与山下炎热就相差许多了。从夹道旁休息片刻，我们又准备出发了。可是映入眼帘的，确实不可能爬上去的石头，虽然石头上面有人工凿开的小洞，但是看着那么光滑的石面，怎么也有点不寒而栗的感觉，最终没有战胜恐惧的我还是让爸爸硬拉上去。到了山顶，山下的景色尽收眼底：房屋是褐色的，农田，森林都是绿色的，水库是澄清的，山下的人们像一只只小蚂蚁，在费力地向上攀爬着。。。。。。眼下的景色就像一幅画，它没有山水画的优雅，却赋有浓浓的诗意;它没有《蒙娜丽莎》的安详，却又是那么美丽。坐了一会，要下山了。爸爸为了试试我的胆量，所以是从西面下山的。那个地方没有石阶，全部都是平整的石面，我一看，傻眼了，这能下吗?爸爸教给我一个小窍门：不要看前面的路，要看您脚下的路，否则您只会更加的恐惧!我试了试，还真管用!就这样我一步一步地挪下了山。不过爸爸的话倒给了我一个启示：再成长的路中，不需注意您前面的路是否长短或是否好坏，只需注意您脚下的路是否平整，这样您的成长道路才会更加坚定与踏实。这次爬山可真不寻常啊!

But when the mission failed, with great loss of life, Churchill paid the price, both publicly and privately. He was removed from the admiralty and effectively sidelined.

Overwhelmed by the catastrophe — “I thought he would die of grief,” said his wife, Clementine —he retired with his family to Hoe Farm, a country retreat in Surrey. There, as Churchill later recalled, “The muse of painting came to my rescue!”

Wandering in the garden one day, he chanced upon his sister-in-law sketching with watercolors. He watched her for a few minutes, then borrowed her brush and tried his hand. The muse had cast her spell!

Churchill soon decided to experiment with oils. Delighted with this distraction from his dark broodings, Clementine rushed off to buy whatever paints she could find.

For Churchill, however, the next step seemed difficult as he contemplated with unaccustomed nervousness the blameless whiteness of a new canvas. He started with the sky and later described how “very gingerly I mixed a little blue paint on the palette, and then with infinite precaution made a mark about as big as a bean upon the affronted snow-white shield. At that moment the sound of a motor car was heard in the drive. From this chariot stepped the gifted wife of Sir John Lavery .”

“ ‘Painting!’ she declared. ‘But what are you hesitating about? Let me have the brush — the big one.’ Splash into the turpentine, wallop into the blue and the white, frantic flourish on the palette, and then several fierce strokes and slashes of blue on the absolutely cowering canvas.”

At that time, John Lavery— a Churchill neighbor and celebrated painter— was tutoring Churchill in his art. Later, Lavery said of his unusual pupil: “Had he chosen painting instead of statesmanship, I believe he would have been a great master with the brush.”

In painting, Churchill had discovered a companion with whom he was to walk for the greater part of the years that remained to him. After the war, painting would offer deep solace when, in 1921, the death of the mother was followed two months later by the loss of his and Clementine’s beloved three-year-old daughter, Marigold. Battered by grief, Winston took refuge at the home of friends in Scotland, finding comfort in his painting. He wrote to Clementine: “I went out and painted a beautiful river in the afternoon light with crimson and golden hills in the background. Alas I keep feeling the hurt of the Duckadilly (Marigold’s pet name).”

Historians have called the decade after 1929, when the Conservative government fell and Winston was out of office, his wilderness years. Politically he may have been wandering in barren places, a lonely fighter trying to awaken Britain to the menace of Hitler, but artistically that wilderness bore abundant fruit. During these years he often painted in the South of France. Of the 500-odd canvases extant, roughly 250 date from 1930 to 1939.

Painting remained a joy to Churchill to the end of his life. “Happy are the painters,” he had written in his book Painting as a Pastime, “ for they shall not be lonely. Light and color, peace and hope, will keep them company to the end of the day.” And so it was for my father.

今天天高气爽，我决定和我弟弟一起去爬山。

来到山下抬头望，弟弟就说爬上这山顶很容易，二话没说就开始爬山了。我们也开是爬了，经过几个小时我们来到了半山腰。弟弟第一个说自己爬不动了。表哥说你开始爬的时候不是很了不起吗，现在怎么了。说起累了。起来继续爬，你要不爬下山去呀，我告诉你没到山底天就黑了，你连睡觉的地方都没有。弟弟听了又开始爬了起来。

天快黑了的时候我们到了山顶。达起了帐篷准被休息了。明天一早准备下山。

下山时，我们还欣赏了很多美丽的景色，有密密麻麻的树林。散发浓浓香味的花草。还看见几只小松鼠在树枝间跳动来到山脚我和弟弟都依依不舍

星期四，天气晴朗，金灿灿的阳光已经照到了屁股上，我和奶奶才慢吞吞地起了床，我们很快地洗了脸，吃了早点就匆匆忙忙地到山上的庙里去买金箔了。

一路上，我们沿着海军部队向前走着，我东瞧瞧西望望，突然看见一位笔直的战士举着崭新的冲锋qiāng站在岗台上。我们走着走着，终于走到一座陡峭的山脚下。我们俩都迈开轻盈的脚步向上走着，我越走越累，晶莹透亮的汗水犹如奔流的河水垂直而下，但我们豪不畏惧，仍然用尽吃奶的力气向上走着，山上仿佛有一股强有力的推力把我使劲拉下去，我一边走一边欣赏着道路两旁的奇花异草，还跟奶奶一起比赛走路。就这样，我们平安无事兴高采烈地走完了前一段路程。后一段路程就有许多不高兴的事了。

我们走呀走，可正走得高兴时，突然间从一块厚厚的水泥板里面同时窜出了三只凶猛的大黄狗，它们对着我们疯狂地叫着，似乎想扑过来重重地咬我一口，我们吓得连连后退，不时发出几声尖叫，身子上起满了一个个红红的鸡皮疙瘩，只见我们都两手空空，怎么办呢？我们都陷入了沉思，忽然我看见了身旁有几块大大的石头，脑袋里冒出了一个好主意，我捡起身旁一块最大的石头装做扔过去的样子，大黄狗果然中计，都吓得惊慌失措，狼狈而逃。我走着走着，突然发觉身上的石头太重而且并没有什么用处，于是，就把石头随手扔在了路边的小河里，我的这一举动好象激怒了正在河底呼呼大睡的河神，他叫一些“水珠兵”爬到我润红的小脸上，搞得我满脸都是乌黑的脏水，我气得像个装了弹簧的洋娃娃，一下子蹦了起来，但也没有出气的人，只好把这股气憋在了心中。

就这样，我们你一言我一语不知不觉就来到了庙中。

今天，我不仅爬了山，还学了许多爬山的技巧，增长了爬山的经验，真是一举两得啊！

6月1日 晴

今天是六一儿童节，风和日丽，我们一家人去秀水山庄爬山。

我们怀着激动的心情乘车而去，弟弟更是迫不及待，一路上高兴的又蹦又跳。一下车，只感觉山下的清新空气扑面而来，四处洋溢着高兴的气氛，弟弟在爸爸的带领下勇敢的上了山，我呢?也不甘落后，拉起妈妈的手就往山上跑。走着走着，突然，一座木桥横在了我们的面前。一座桥有什么好怕的?我壮着胆子走上去，心里却紧张极了：啊，千万不要掉下去呀!总算走到了对岸，我长舒了一口气。

“咦，这是什么?”弟弟叫起来。我一看，一块石头上写着：四百米。我顿时恍然大悟：“咱们已经前进了四百米了!”没想到，这么不经意间的走着，竟然前进了这么多!我惊奇不已。

哦，天啊!又一架软梯挡住了我们的去路，我低头一看，下面就是万丈深渊，非常危险。姑妈看见了(弟弟的妈妈)，摆摆手说：“我可不去了，要去你们去吧，我好怕呀。”我本来也不想去，看着弟弟奋勇前进的样子，我不能输给他呀，又一想也不能半途而废，就向爸爸投去了求助的目光。爸爸明白了我的意思，拉着我的手上了软梯，妈妈也拉上弟弟的手一同登上了梯子。刚开始，我心里怕得要命，心像揣了小兔子是的“咚咚”直跳。后来，我发现走软梯并不可怕，关键是手抓紧，脚踩实。我便一大步一大步地走起来，总于到对岸了!我高兴极了，心里像吃了蜜一样，甜滋滋的。

这次冒险让我知道了做事不能半途而废，同时也让我收获了快乐。

What is the taste of home? Before I lodge in school dormitory, I never think of this question. But, now I know what the taste of home is as I have lived in school for a month. I miss the delicious food cooked by my mother and her endless chatter. My father sits in the middle of the hall watching TV. The fight between my two younger brothers and the ice cream in the refrigerator make me feel warm. All these make a house a family. And it is the taste of home in my mind.
