北京故宫，又名紫禁城，位于北京市中心，今天我们称它为故宫，故宫是一个无与伦比的杰作，它还被誉为五大宫之首，故宫建设于公元1406年，1420年成功。总面积72万平方米，建筑面积大约15.5万平方米一共有8705个房间，城墙外有52米宽的护城河环绕，形成了一个巨大的堡垒。

故宫共有4个门，正门为午门，东门为东华门，西门为西华门，北门为神武门。故宫前宫殿，当时建筑要求宏伟壮观，庭院明朗开阔，象征封建政权至高无上，太和殿坐落在紫禁城对角线中心，四个角上各有十只吉祥瑞兽，生动形象，栩栩如生。

站在高处看故宫，看不到一个窗户，是为了防止小偷。大门前有两个大水缸，里面都盛满了水。后门神武门是最倾注的门，明朝称为玄武门，玄武是古代四兽之一。神武门是一座城门楼的形式，用的是最高等级的屋顶建筑而成。

这就是美不胜收的故宫，它是我们古代的劳动人民用辛勤的汗水和智慧凝聚而成。

我来简单介绍一下：故宫位置于北京市中心，旧称紫禁城。是明、清两代的皇宫，无与伦比的古代杰作，世界现存最大、最完整的木质结构的古建筑群。

大家看!这就是故宫!这是多么雄伟啊!故宫是在公元1406年建的，在1420年差不多竣工，是明朝皇帝朱棣建的。故宫南北长961米，东西宽753米，面积约为723，600平方米，可真大啊!建筑面积15。5万平方米，相传故宫一共有9999间房，实际据1973年专家现场测量故宫有大小院落90多座，房屋有980座，共计8707间，宫城周围环绕着高12米，长3400米的宫墙，形式为一个长方形城池，墙外有52米宽的护城河环绕，形成一个大大的城堡。故宫是木结构、黄琉璃瓦顶、青白石底座，可以饰以金碧辉煌的彩画。

看!故宫一共有4个门，门可真多，显然表示出故宫的大，正门名字叫做午门，东门名字叫做东华门，西门名字叫做西华门，北门名字叫做神武门。面对北门的神武门，有用土块和石头建筑成的大景山，满山松柏成林。在整体布局上，景山可以说是故宫建筑的天然屏障!
