北京是我们祖国的首都，可是我从小到大一次也没去过，所以我要借着暑假和爸爸妈妈一起去。我们要参观的第一站就是世界上最大的城市中心广场“天安门广场”，还有世界上现存最大的宫殿建筑群“故宫”。

经过几个小时的车程，我们终于到了北京的天安门广场。哇！天安门广场真大呀，足足有好几个我们的学校大。天安门的前面是大前门，左面是人民大会堂，右面是毛主席纪念碑和纪念堂。天安门中心那就是国旗台了。天安门总共有五个门，中间那个最大的门就是以前皇帝走的，旁边两个门是官位较高的大臣走的，而最小的两个门是官位较小的大臣走的。走过这道门，后面就来到了故宫。

故宫原来称“紫禁城”，是明、清两代的皇宫，由大小数十个院落组成，房屋9000多间，占地72万平方千米，据导游讲，一个人从生下来就在每个房间里住，每天一间，要24年才能住完，你说这有多大呀。因为那时的皇帝都十分迷信，所以每个宫殿上面都有九只神兽来保佑皇帝。宫殿外面有两只狮子，一只踩着球的是公狮子，而另一只踩着小狮子的是母狮子。皇帝为什么选择狮子作为摆设呢，据说是因为狮子是兽中之王，还是“一夫多妻”呢。宫殿周围都很空旷，没有树木，皇帝怕有坏人藏在树上，对他不利。我们继续往后走，来到了御花园。御花园里到处是名花贵树，大多数树木都是几百年以上的。花园里有许多亭台楼阁，是皇族们乘凉的地方。花园后面有一座假山，宫里的人们没法出宫，只能站在上面望远来思念家人。

故宫不公庞大美丽，还有许多遥远的故事，清楚地记录了当时的生活，这全都成为了我们的回忆。

游览故宫之前，要先到天安门广场游览。天安门广场中间是高大的人民英雄纪念碑，西侧是庄严、神圣的人民大会堂，东侧是古朴的中国国家博物馆；然后我们来到了天安门，天安门城楼雄伟壮丽，楼的正中悬挂着毛主席画像，画像里他既威严又亲切，画像的两旁挂着“中华人民共和国万岁，世界人民大团结万岁”两幅大字。天安门前有一条护城河，河上架着用汉白玉雕刻的金水桥。金水桥的左右前方挺立着两根华表，华表上的龙腾云驾雾，气度非凡。

踏进天安门，一眼就看到了金碧辉煌的宫殿——故宫。

故宫位于北京城的中心，又名紫荆城，是明清两代的皇宫，是当今世界上现存规模最大，建筑最雄伟，保存最完整的古代皇家宫殿。太和殿是紫荆城内级别最高的建筑，只在皇帝举行盛大典礼时才使用，象征着皇权的至高无上。乾清宫则是黄帝日常生活的地方。虽然只能看到宫殿外的装饰，我却能感受到宫殿内的富丽堂皇。紫荆城里有一个共同的特点，那就是以宫殿为轴心东西的房屋呈对称分布。

走进故宫珍宝馆会看到一块大大的九龙壁，别单单看它只是一块雕刻精美的壁画，可它的来历可不小。九龙壁中间的那条龙代表皇帝，只有中间这条龙正面向前看，其他的龙都诚服它。九龙壁从左数第三条龙上有一块是木头拼接的，不仔细很难看出。事情是这样的：制造九龙壁的时候，有一次工匠不小心把一条龙底部的琉璃打碎了，那可是要杀头的啊！急得工匠不知如何是好，因为隔天后皇帝要来检查，没有时间再打造一块，有位木匠灵机一动，想出用木头做了一模一样的一块代替琉璃蒙混过了关，隔天后皇帝来检查果真没发现，工匠们的脑袋总算保住了。

然后来到珍宝馆，珍宝馆里的国宝使我眼花缭乱，放眼望去一大片国宝，有金银、玉器、青铜礼器等文物，都是价值连城的宝贝。接着我们去了钟表馆，那儿聚集着世界各地的古典钟表，有大型历朝历代的记时钟，也有各式各样的西洋钟。

故宫后面是景山公园。景山公园是一座人工堆积而成的山，用挖护城河的土堆积而成。在山上可以看到故宫的全景，我站在高高的山顶，领略到一览众山小的感觉，见识到当今世上规模最大，建筑最宏伟的皇家宫殿，让我真正体会到了故宫的宏伟气魄。
