Today, the human should endeavor to protect elephants, elephant, as a kind of animal species to survive a few million years is not a problem.

大象的样子很奇特。它长着四条粗壮的腿，篮球似的头上长着一条长鼻子和两只扇形的大耳朵,于是，眼睛就显得非常小了。庞大的身躯后面还有一根小尾巴，专门用来驱赶苍蝇、蚊子的。它那副尖利的长牙也令对手闻风丧胆。

大象喝水的样子很好玩。它先用长鼻子吸进水，然后把鼻子放进嘴里，水就自动流进嘴里了。但有时水还在往嘴巴外面流，大象可真傻呀!

大象是群居动物。一群大象中总有一只德高望重的领头象，他既要带领象群迁徙，又要保护象群免受其它野兽攻击，所以责任重大，任务艰巨。

大象是一种古老的哺乳动物。早在几百万年以前，它就与恐龙等动物共同生活在地球上，后来恐龙灭绝了，但大象却顽强地生存了下来，说明大象适应环境能力比较强。今天看来，只要人类尽力保护大象，大象作为一种动物种类再继续生存几百万年是不成问题的。

琉璃砖瓦、朱红色的通天石柱，金碧辉煌的皇宫大殿。这一切的一切都是我脑海中对北京故宫古城的遐想。我心中梦寐以求的，对于那个古老而又旷远的心中圣地，终于可以在今年的暑假，陪家人一起，亲自踏足这个古老又神秘的地方。

天公作美，今日晴空万里，艳阳高照，正好适合外出游玩。乘上汽车，我们从北京五环开始出发，经过北京现代的繁华，目睹着改革开放几十年后在首都北京林立的一幢幢高楼大厦，气势恢宏的北京电视塔，梦幻绮丽的购物天堂，文化底蕴浓厚的历史博物馆。车上的人见此美景，纷纷拿出相机争相竞拍，仿佛在为这些风光独特壮观的景色感到惊叹的同时，也想为自己本次出游留下纪念，不虚此行。

车继续往前开，渐渐地驶出那些现代建筑，路过护城河，再往里走似乎就能看见老北京古建筑了——层层叠叠的四合院、古色古香的人物雕像、亭台围墙。在高大宏伟的正阳门下，金灿灿的阳光沁在我们每个人的脸上，朝气蓬勃的仿若在向我们暗示——故宫就在前方!

故宫，又名紫禁城，取意紫气东来却又禁止外人进入而得名。在高大的城墙下，我轻抚历经岁月沉淀略带锈迹的金色门钉，伴着时光一起，缓缓走进朱门高楼中的故宫，领略它的历史沧桑，见证它的雄伟壮丽。

走过不短的门洞，在半壁城楼的阴影下，映入眼帘的是一望无垠的广场和四周整齐罗列的宫殿，首先我们去的是位于三殿之首的太和殿，由于殿内不对游客开放，所以我也随众人一起，一路走一路看，于人群拥挤的间隙间，看见殿内的金銮宝座，沥粉金漆的雕龙石柱和精致的蟠龙藻井，完全贴合了我心中对它的遐想，甚至更显得富丽堂皇。这里，是位于北京心脏的地方;这里，曾经有两朝皇帝俯首江山，气壮山河;这里，曾是多少中国人梦寐以求，心生向往的天堂!顺着太和殿，我们依次游览了中和殿和保和殿，亲手抚过那些被历史掩盖了繁华的砖砖瓦瓦，亲眼目睹着从原始时期直至清代约6000多年的中华瑰宝，亲身体会着这一幢幢未加人工砌合却完美的天衣无缝的亭台楼阁，一时间，对着北京故宫，我的心中，充满的只有浓浓的敬畏之情。

到了中午，天气渐渐炎热起来。炎炎烈日炙烤着我裸露在外的皮肤，却怎么也抑制不住我内里一颗为着用中华人民勤劳与智慧建起的千栋古建筑而分外炙热狂跳的心。一路上均是徒步而行，汗水早已沁透衣襟，走进御花园，吹着树荫下的习习凉风，眷恋不舍的走出玄武门，很快的，我们在疲累中就要告别北京古城。

抬头看天，天之蔚蓝辽阔我不敢比及;低头望地，地之厚实深沉我无法奢想;坐在归途的车中，我始终记得一个人在故宫仰看天地时的场景——是啊，天地之间，人，是多么渺小!但是，当车渐渐驶离护城河，眼中充斥的又是那些日新月异的高楼建筑，不禁让我对刚才的想法又有了些许改观。北京的昨天，绮丽而又辉煌;北京的今天，也正在顺应全球化发展的过程中不断地让我们见证了更多的奇迹。那些高楼林立，那些壮志豪言，不正是将北京推向更高更远的动力么?我们有理由相信，勤劳而又充满智慧的中国人，会在不懈的奋斗努力下，为北京、为中国创造出一个更美好的明天!

深吸口气，我浅浅的微笑，看过首都北京，赏过它昔日的繁华，目睹着它而今奋力勃发的身影，也算是不虚此行了。坐在车中，回头观望离我渐行渐远的北京城——北京的天空还很蓝，北京的路还很宽。
