太和殿试中轴线上的宫殿。远远望去，金色的瓦，红色的墙，汉白玉的基座，在蓝天白云下显得高大雄伟、金碧辉煌。走进一看，只见柱子上、门窗上到处雕刻着腾云驾雾的龙。这是皇帝尊贵的象征，在古时候是不允许出现在普通的建筑上的。让我印象最深的是一块铺在台阶上得龙云石，长十几米，宽3米，重2500多吨。这么大这么重的一块石头，是怎么运过来的呢?聪明的古代劳动人民想出了一个好办法：冬天，北京天气很冷，水在室外一下就结成了冰。他们就在运输的道路上，每隔几百米挖一口井啊，把井里的水洒到地上、石头上，过一会儿，就结成了冰。路面和石头只见就会变得很光滑了，然后再绑上绳子，成千上万的人拉着绳子，慢慢地就把石头拖到了这里。

经过了几小时颠簸，我们终于来到了故宫。抬头一看，那高高的城墙把故宫紧紧围住，为这座雍容华贵的宫殿增添了几分别致。我们来到故宫的第一个门――端门。听说清代时候，文武大臣上朝觐见皇帝时，就要在端门前，把自己的官服整理端正，然后才可进见皇上。所以我很自然地整理了一下自己的衣服和帽子。

一座高高的城墙出现在我们面前，我抬起头仰望，这城墙大概有二十多米高吧，城门上写着两个大字“午门”。据说这是以前人们把犯人拉出午门斩首指的就是这个门，我看着午门两个字心里有点发毛。
