在新的起点上继往开来。20世纪的中国历史告诉人们，只有社会主义才能救中国，只有社会主义才能发展中国。中国特色社会主义道路，是中国共产党带领全国各族人民在长期实践中经过艰辛探索开辟的，是实现国家繁荣富强和人民幸福安康的成功之路。只有坚持走中国特色社会主义道路，才能实现中华民族的伟大复兴。中国特色社会主义事业是亿万人民的共同事业，需要一代又一代中华儿女不懈奋斗。当代大学生，是我国社会主义事业的建设者和接班人，要继承前辈开创的伟大事业，推进中国特色社会主义的航船继续破浪前进。

当代大学生成长成才和创业的时期，正是国家发展的重要战略机遇期，时代位同学们提供施展才华的大好机遇和广阔空间。同学们要珍惜历史机遇，自觉把人生追求同国家和民族的前途命运联系起来，在为国家发展和民族振兴的不懈奋斗中，创造无愧于人生的业绩。

在现实的基础上迎接挑战。当前，我国社会主义现代化建设取得了举世瞩目的巨大成就，社会主义在中国显示出蓬勃生机和活力。同时，也要看到，我国的发展还面临一系列的挑战。这些挑战，既是对中国特色社会主义事业的挑战，也是对当代大学生的挑战。

一是面临着世界技术文化发展的挑战。当今时代，科学技术发展突飞猛进，给社会生产力和人类经济社会的发展带来了极大地推动。未来的科学技术还将产生新的重大飞跃。各种文化在世界范围内相互激荡，有吸纳有排斥，有融合有斗争，有渗透有抵御，对各国的经济、政治和社会发展的作用越来越突出。科技文化竞争成为综合国力竞争的焦点。谁在知识和科技创新方面占据优势，谁就能够掌握发展的主动权。世界各国尤其是发达国家纷纷把推动科技进步和创新作为国家战略，把发展本国文化作为重要任务，努力增强科技文化竞争力和综合国力。面对

世界科技文化发展的缺失，面对日益激烈的国际斗争，我们必须奋起直追，这样才能把握先机，赢得发展的主动权。当代大学生是我国未来科学技术发展和文化建设的中坚力量，理应法非学习、刻苦钻研、努力成才，义不容辞地肩负起发展我国科技文化的历史重任。

二是面临复杂多变的国际环境的挑战。当今世界，和平、发展、合作是时代的潮流。国际局势正发生新的深刻变化，世界多极化和经济全球化的趋势继续在曲折中发展，影响和平与发展的不稳定因素增多，发达国家在经济和科技上占优势的压力将长期存在，世界经济发展不平衡的状态加剧，围绕资源、市场、技术、人才的竞争更加激烈，贸易保护主义有新的表现，敌对势力对我国实施西化、分化的战略图谋没有改变，我国经济社会发展和安全面临着新的挑战。当代大学生应当具备高度的历史责任感、强烈的忧患意识和宽广的世界眼光，保持清醒的头脑，培养大无畏的胆略和气概，坚定中国特色社会主义的信念，做一个有理想、有远见的人，为振兴中华贡献力量。

三是面临新世纪新阶段我国发展任务的挑战。全面建设小康社会是党的十六大确定的新世纪新阶段我国社会主义现代化建设的宏伟目标。实现这一宏伟目标，当代大学生肩负着特殊的责任。在世纪之交，江泽民曾向全国大学生明确提出：“从二十世纪进入二十一世纪，你们是承前启后、继往开来的重要一代。我们现代化建设的第三步战略目标将在你们这一代手中实现。你们树立什么样的理想，学到什么样的知识，具有什么样的能力，对于祖国和民族的未来关系重大。”〔④〕能否按照全面建设小康社会、加开推进社会主义现代化建设对人才提出的要求，全面提高自身素质，担负起历史赋予的光荣使命，这是当代大学生必须直接面对的带有根本性的挑战。

一个人，一个民族、一个国家，任何时候都面临着挑战，挑战与机遇相伴而生。只有敢于迎接挑战、战胜挑战，才能把握和创造机遇，才能把握和创造未来。同学们应该自觉把自己的人生追求同祖国的前途命运紧密联系起来，树立为祖国繁荣富强贡献青春力量的远大志向，珍惜年华、刻苦学习，磨练意志、砥砺品格，为祖国的繁荣富强贡献力量。

二、确当代大学生的成才目标

成为德智体美全面发展的社会主义事业的建设者和接班人，是历史使命对大学生的必然要求，是党和人民的殷切希望，也是大学生需要确立的成才目标。

德是人才素质的灵魂。在今天改革开放和发展社会主义市场经济的新形势下，德在青年人的成长成才中发挥着越来越突出的作用。同学们从进入大学校园起，就应当自觉接受社会主义思想道德教育和法制教育，以社会主义荣辱观为统领，以理想信念为核心，以爱国主义为重点，以公民的基本道德规范为基础，以全面发展为目标，增强遵纪守法观念，促进思想道德素质、科学文化素质和健康素质协调发展。

智是人才素质的基础。智大学生从事社会主义现代化建设的实际本领，是能否成为对国家、对人民有用的人才的重要基础。在智育方面，同学们需要刻苦学习，努力掌握科学文化知识，掌握本专业比较系统扎实的理论基础和应用技能，不断拓展自己的知识领域，培养解决理论和实际问题的能力，培养创新能力、实践能力和创业精神，提高人文素质和科学素质。

体是人才素质的条件。健康的体魄是大学生为祖国和人民服务的基本条件，是中华民族旺盛生命力的体现。在体育方面，同学们要了解体育运动的基本知识，掌握科学锻炼身体的基本技能，积极参加体育锻炼，养成锻炼身体的良好习惯。身体健康，才能胜任今天的学习任务和明天的工作职责。

美是人才素质的重要内容。美育不仅能陶冶情操、提高素养，而且有助于开发智力，对于促进大学生全面发展具有不可替代的作用。在美育方面，同学们需要提高文化艺术修养，养成良好的审美观念，加强审美修养，提高审美能力，认清什么是美，什么是丑。

大学培养目标所要求的德智体美方面的素质是相互联系、相互制约的统一体。大学生的全面发展，就是德智体美的全面发展，是思想道德素质、科学文化素质和健康素质的全面提高。当代大学生应努力成长为健康发展、和谐发展、主动发展的一代新人。
