As part of my career planning, I am very interested in supplementing my international business education with a basic knowledge of the Chinese language. This I hope will help me enter into business commerce with business organizations partnering with Chinas economic development.

I already have information from BLCU and hope to study there for at least one full year starting with this summers program continuing through the fall and spring semester 2006. Can your office advise me if such scholarships might be available to me?

I have been studying Chinese for one year now. I am not sure what level I belong to. I was told that there will be an HSK test in our university in September. I am planning to attend the test. But I dont know if the result of the test is recognized by your university. If so, can it be a help for me to apply for the scholarship?

There are many traditional festivals in China, such as the childrens day, the national day, the Dragon Boat Festival and the Mid Autumn Festival, but my favorite and most expected is the Spring Festival.

Lets talk about the origin of the Spring Festival. Legend has a monster called "year", the head long antennae, fierce and abnormal. "Year" years of deep seabed, every new years Eve just climbed out, devouring livestock harm human life. Therefore, every new years Eve, people help the aged and the young stockaded village fled to the mountains, to avoid "year" damage. A new years Eve, peach blossom village people are to help the aged and the young to take refuge, an old man came to the village, at this time, everyone on the run, who do not care about the old man, only an old woman carrying food to persuade the elderly, said: "everyone in the refugee! You can run away with the food, too. " The old man said unhurried, "can I stay in your house for a while?" The old woman hurried to persuade the elderly, the old man just only smiled but did not reply the old woman had to promise the elderly. The old man hung a red lantern in front of the house, and there was a lot of red things in front of the door. Suddenly, "year", "year" went to the front of the wife, I saw the red light scattered, "year" was scared away. At this time, sounded crackling sound of firecrackers, "year" was scared to death, escape from the village of peach blossom. Later, people called the happy day of the people "Spring Festival".

The Spring Festival is coming, the street is very busy! Malone on the road, the flow of water. A row of shops at the entrance, some hanging on every kind of lanterns, some big red lanterns hang, some affixed with "longevity, happiness as immense as the Eastern Sea" auspicious antithetical couplet. The street shop owners are Strike while the iron is hot. peddled. The sound of firecrackers, fireworks, cheers and laughter filled the whole town, everywhere permeated with a festive atmosphere.

Not only in the street, but also at home. At home, people eat reunion dinner with relatives coming back from far away, then watch the Spring Festival Gala together, chat together, and my family is no exception. That year, our family and some relatives around the table to eat hot pot, mom and dad ate while chatting. I just sat there quietly enjoying the delicious food. After dinner, we put the fireworks in the square, a branch of a dragon like fireworks into the sky, blooming in the bright moonlight beside. I also tried to put one, but since then I cant put the fireworks again. The Spring Festival is really a beautiful day.

water is very important for us.

we must drink water everyday. we can’t live without water. water is everywhere around us. at home, we use water to wash clothes, to wash dishes, to cook rice, to clean the flat, to have showers, to make drinks, to clean our teeth, to have a bath and so on.

at work, people use water to put out fires, to grow vegetables, to make things in factories and so on. we also can swim in the sea.

water is important for us, isn’t it?

My father is a teacher, he looks fat, but also wearing a pair of glasses, the rationale of a flat head, not tall.

Dad likes to swim, run, play table tennis, read books, travel.

My dad asked me very strict, he often taught me to be polite. My father is a demanding person, I like my father, he taught me to do a very polite, honest and honest people.

my mother is a simple woman who comes from the countryside with little education. but in my eyes， she is the greatest mother in the world. her perseverance gives me courage in all my life. whenever i have trouble doing something and think about giving up， the scene that happened three years ago to mother just come into my mind.

having asked for a leave from the teacher， i left the boring class and went to home with my favorite novel tucked under my arm. father was at work， brother was at school， mother wouldn‘t be back from her small store until evening. i felt very happy thinking that i would have the entire house to myself. i bounded up steps， burst into the room but was shocked by whatever i saw. mother was sitting in the sofa， sobbing with her shoulder twitching. i had never seen mother crying before. i went close to her， asking what had happened. she wiped her tears， forced a smile， and told me calmly that her small store was going to break. i didnt know how to comfort her at the moment， but i did know what the small store meant to her.

mother ran the small store in order for my brother and me to have a better education. as father worked with low salary which could merely afford the whole family‘s life necessities， mother had to try hard to earn money for our education. she was frantic to make money before she managed the store herself. she once worked day and night for months on end in a small restaurant. it was a very difficult period of time for her. but she never complained before us. eventually， she had her own business by running the small store. and she really managed it well all the time with great efforts. i never expected that the store would break. this will undoubtedly take everything away from my mother. i couldn‘t help worrying about her. mother seemed to read the worry on my face. she patted me on my shoulder， speaking with a faint smile: well， it may not be that serious. i‘ll try to make it better whatever. we‘ll be fine， my dear boy. i was so moved by mother‘s words. it turned out that mother really rebuilt her business soon and the store ran well. i could imagine how much mother had paid for her small store business. it was really too much for a woman. but she never gave up. she just went ahead with her unusual perseverance.
