七夕乞巧,这个节日起源于汉代,东晋葛洪的《西京杂记》有“汉彩女常以七月七日穿七孔针于开襟楼,人俱习之”的记载,这便是我们于古代文献中所见到的最早的关于乞巧的记载.后来的唐宋诗词中,妇女乞巧也被屡屡提及,唐朝王建有诗说“阑珊星斗缀珠光,七夕宫娥乞巧忙”.据《开元天宝遗事》载：唐太宗与妃子每逢七夕在清宫夜宴,宫女们各自乞巧,这一习俗在民间也经久不衰,代代延续.

这座桥位于湖北省武汉市内，大桥横跨于武昌蛇山和汉阳龟山之间，是我国在万里长江上修建的第一座铁路、公路两用桥梁。全桥总长1670米，其中正桥1156米，北岸引桥303米，南岸引桥211米。从基底至公路桥面高80米，下层为双线铁路桥，宽14。5米，两列火车可同时对开。上层为公路桥，宽22。5米，其中：车行道18米，设4车道;车行道两边的人行道各2。25米。桥身为三联连续桥梁，每联3孔，共8墩9孔。每孔跨度为128米，终年巨轮航行无阻。

正桥的两端建有具有民族风格的桥头堡，各高35米，从底层大厅至顶亭，共7层，有电动升降梯供人上下。附属建筑和各种装饰，均极协调精美，整座大桥异常雄伟。若从底层坐电动升降梯可直接上大桥公路桥面参观，眺望四周，整个武汉三镇连成一体，也打通了被长江隔断的京汉、粤汉两铁路且连通了京广线，使人心旷神怡，浮想联翩，真是“一桥飞架南北，天堑变通途”。
