狗是人们最忠诚的朋友了。人常说，狗不嫌家穷，这话一点也不假，那些穷人家的狗虽然饿精瘦精瘦的，但从没有见它们跑到哪个富人家去，即使你将它带到偏远的地方抛弃了，它也会一路寻来的。在农村，狗是人们忠实的守门者，不论狂风暴雨还是严寒酷暑，狗总是坚守在门外的小窝里，只要有风吹草动，它们便叫个不停。只可惜现在的鼠药太多，坏人太多，狗已很难在农村安家了。

那时候我家养了很多狗，最不能忘记的有两只。一只是白狗，个子大概一尺来高，瘦瘦的。这是一只很温顺的狗，任凭我们怎么逗弄它，它也不生气。那时候看过一部名叫《赛虎》的电影，电影讲了一个农民的孩子养了一只叫“赛虎”的狗，与地主的儿子做斗争。看完电影，我也给自己的狗起名“赛虎”。还用树根做了一套种地的犁具，套在白狗身上模仿大人们种地。小小的犁在僵硬的土路上划出一道道印痕，小狗唔唔的叫着，甚是可怜。

后来又养了一只土黄色的小狗。这是一只非常可爱的小狗，个子不足一尺高，父亲刚抓来时，也就像只小猫般大吧。那会我总是抱着小狗，走到哪抱到哪。小狗非常聪明，你让它站起来，它就站起来，扔一块馒头，它会灵巧地接住。为它，我可没少流眼泪。记得有一年正月，一个远房的亲戚来我家，他的小孩非常喜欢小黄狗，临走时偷偷地装到了篮子中，被我发现了。便与他打起架来，那个小孩在门外哭，我在门内哭，愣是没让把小狗带走。

别看小狗个子矮，可它却一点也不比别的狗弱，每逢家里来了陌生人，它叫得可厉害了，一条长长的铁链常被拉得哗哗地响。同时，它又是那么聪明，如果你来时拿着东西，它叫声中便明显洋溢着快乐，如果走时拿着东西，它则叫得那么凶狠。它还有一个非常奇怪的举动。每隔一周左右，就有一天不吃食，不论多好的食。起初我们以为它生病了，后来才知道这是它特有的习惯。母亲总说，这是少数民族转世的狗，它大约也在做着它特有的礼数吧。

可惜，后来，这只小狗就不声不响的死了。等我们发现时，它死在了一个废弃的兔子窝中，身子长长的，眼睛紧闭，一副安详的样子。人常说，狗有九条命，我和父亲把小狗拉到门前，还是没有救活它。为此，全家人都伤心了好些日子。从此也不再养狗了。
