As is clearly shown by the two pie charts, from 1980 to 2004 the students who go traveling and do social practices during vacations increase greatly while those who stay at home decrease a lot. For instance, in 1980, only 9% of the students took advantage of their vacation time to do social practice, but its percentage has been more than tripled in 2004. Obviously, great changes have taken place in the way that college students spend their vacations.

Considering these changes, we can find there are possibly three main reasons. Firstly, with the fast development of economy, many people have become rich, which makes it possible for more students to go traveling. Most parents tend to support their children to travel financially. Secondly, the reason lies in the fact that the boom of tourism has made traveling attractive and, also, modem transportation has made it easier for students to go out to travel. The travel agencies not only provide historic sightseeing but also cultural as well as educational tour around China. What is more important, the fast changing society has raised higher requirements for college graduates. The authorities of Chinese university or college have been encouraging their students to do social practices in the hope that college students would broaden their view to know more about the society and become more adaptable to the future work after they graduate. Canton Tower,as a new landmark,located in the new CBD and the Pearl River landscape axis,lying in the geometric center of Guangzhou city.Canton Tower is 125 meters away from the south bank of Pearl River,facing the Haixinsha Island and Zhujiang New Town.In the year 2004,Information Based Architecture won the international competition,in which 13 of the worlds largest architectural offices participated,with a stunning and challenging design.IBA collaborated with Arup,the global design and business consulting firm developed the concept design.In later stages,IBA cooperated mainly with the local Chinese offices of Arup and a Local Design Institute.

it was a long holiday. i went to hong kong with my parents on may 1st. we went by train. we got to hong kong in the afternoon. we had a rest. on the 2nd, we went to disney”s land. on the 3rd, we went to a restaurant. we ate good food. it was yummy. on the 4th, i did my homework and read a book. on the 5th, we went to a zoo. we saw many animals. on the 6th, we went shopping. i bought many clothes. they were nice. i bought some gifts for my friends, too. on the 7th, we got back to dongguan by bus. in the afternoon, we relaxed and prepared to go back to work or school.

i was very excited on labour holiday. but i was tired, too.
