London and Tower Bridge

Not much is known about the earliest London Bridge although it’s location is thought to be near the present one. The second bridge a wooden one existing in Saxon times seems to have given rise to the nursery rhyme ‘London Bridge is falling down’ which it did in 1014. In 1176 the first stone bridge was constructed. Houses sprung up on both sides of the bridge and stood until it was pulled down in 1831, making way for a more elegant, classic structure. This bridge was replaced in 1967 as it could no longer cope with the amount of traffic. The present London Bridge is more 100 feet wide.

The London Bridge preceding the current one was bought by the McCulloch Oil Corporation of California, which reconstructed it at Lake Havasu City, in a corner of America’s Arizona Desert. Rumour has it that McCulloch’s thought they were buying the much more spectacular Tower Bridge.

The Construction of Tower Bridge began in 1885 and it was opened 9yrs later by Edward VII the then Prince of Wales, Amidst pomp and ceremony. It is the only bridge in London that can be raised to allow ships to pass. Since the Thames is no longer used much as a trade and shipping route, the complex lifting mechanism is only used 4 or 5 times a week. 你好，每个人!我的名字叫BaiXinyu。我的英文名字叫艾米。我13岁。我在课堂上7，在29中学7年级。我爱我的新学校，这是非常大的。我有大，黑色的眼睛，短头发。我非常高又苗条。我是一个阳光明媚的，友好的女孩。我的老师和同学都喜欢我。我家里有三个人：我爸爸，我妈妈和我。我有一只狗，他是白色的。他是如此可爱和简单。哦，他是贵宾犬。我非常爱他。我有很多爱好。比如画画，看书，做练习……我喜欢阅读，因为它给我很多的。我擅长游泳，我喜欢水，它非常酷!但我不喜欢滑雪，和我是很困难的。这就是我，你知道吗?

今天就是英语外研比赛的日子了，我被安排在下午2.30那场，老妈的单位离考场比较近，上午我便跟她去单位值班。

我在老妈的办公室里，一直都在背稿，时间过得很快，稿纸在我的手中不停地抖动，说好的不紧张呢?

简单吃了点饭，老妈看我这副状态，她提议说，咱们提前溜达着去吧，就当散散步。

午后的街道有些冷清，看到不错的景致，老妈竟不忘给我拍张照片啥的，她可真有兴致。不觉中就来到了“宝睿国际未来小学”门口，我们是下午考生中来得最早的。

等了好久一些家长才陪着孩子到来，有接待老师把我们安排在家长等候区，并给选手们讲了些注意事项，接着老师又读了考场名单，我被安排在第三考场。

这是初赛，演讲的内容是自我介绍加才艺表演。我看到有的选手准备得真棒!不光自己化了淡妆，还梳了很复杂很漂亮的辫子，有的还穿了美丽的裙子。有不少同学手里拿了画板，上面是他们精心绘制的图画，他们边指着自己的画边小声念着英语，看来他们的才艺表演一定是用英语介绍自己的画了。而我的才艺显得多么的微不足道，我只打算读一首英文小诗。

上午考完的同学在群里发来信息，他们说很简单，评委主要看你的口语能力，觉得背不好的，也可以直接读，我终于有了一些安心。

马上就轮到我了，听到老师念我名字，稿子在我手中抖的更厉害了。原来考场里只有三位评委老师，但其中有一位外国人。我的心开始咚咚跳个不停，手心也开始冒汗。我刚说一句“Hello everyone.”，三位评委老师便微笑着向我点头示意。他们这一微笑，我反而不自在的很，我僵硬的站在他们面前，机械地象在用英文诵经一般，我甚至听到自己的声音就象一只大苍蝇在我周围嗡嗡着飞，它飞飞停停，停停飞飞，可恶极了。我发现三位评委老师都在低着头，记录着什么，也不知他们听清了这“嗡嗡”声没有。自我介绍环节很快就完了，我看没人看我，便拿出稿子，直接读那首“四季”的小诗。依然没人看我，平时读得一点问题都没有，此时竟卡了好几下，自己都觉得糟糕透顶。

三分钟终于结束了，我向三位评委鞠了躬说了“thank you”之后，心情才平静下来。

因为我是最后一场，所以，我来到家长区没多久，就有老师进来，当场宣布进入复赛的同学名单了。老师神采飞扬，声音洪亮，她说：“非常高兴地通知大家，祝贺以下进入复赛的同学，读到名字的同学也请家长一起上台!”

接着老师便念“张三，李四”，没有我的名字!

我沮丧极了，连为大家鼓掌的力气都没有了。

也许从我站到台上的那一刻就被评委老师“秒杀”掉了。老妈反倒安慰我说：“你在这里登过台，已经很棒了。但一定记住，台上一分钟，台下十年功啊。”

是的，通过参加这次比赛，我也找到了自己努力的方向。

路过一家烘焙店，我说：“老妈，给我买点吃的吧，我要化悲痛为力量!”

我叫李思仪，今年我九岁啦!我喜欢玩男孩子的运动，虽然我是个女孩子。我有一副瘦小的身材，喜欢穿短袖短裤。我最讨人厌的是那张小嘴，虽说它像樱桃，但是说起话来不分轻重。他们都说我的眼睛大，瞪起来像西瓜，眼珠子黑得像葡萄。我的口头禅是：“干什么?”你猜为什么?其实我也不知道!哈哈哈哈!

我是个脾气倔强的小女孩。有一次，我和爸爸争论一道数学题，这道题是这样的。问下面哪些是平行四边形?三角形;正方形;平行四边形;④长方形。我的答案是④，但是爸爸检查我的作业之后，认为答案是④。我的意见是，正方形就是正方形，长方形就是长方形，跟平行四边形一点关系都没有。爸爸也提出了意见，指出了平行四边形的定义，两组对边分别平行的四边形就是平行四边形，而正方形和长方形完全符合，所以他们就是平行四边形。我不服，但是又没有太多的理由，一转眼就说完了，又不想这么轻易的就投降了，只有一直都说这些话。爸爸振振有词地说了数不尽的理由，我还说不服，最终公公听着不耐烦了，走了过来，又说了七七八八的道理，这下我知道了这道题的正确答案和理由，我佩服他们，佩服得五体投地。我真后悔刚才执迷不悟啊!爸爸却表扬了我有自己的想法，勇敢地提出来，并且接受了正确的答案。

我受到了很大的启发，下定决心，一定要把这个习惯坚持到底，用于提出问题，追问到底，提出自己的想法，得到正确认识，要像伊琳娜质疑郎志万那样，不要轻易相信权威，要敢于怀疑。

你们好，我是一个刚刚上初中的孩子，我的名字叫小柱子，我真的很开心把自己介绍给你们。

再介绍一下我的性格，我在外面比较内向，遇见生人面部肌肉总会十分紧张，有时连平常最熟悉的打招呼也变得吞吞吐吐。可在家里，我威风八面，总会滔滔不绝地与家人交谈，与姐姐弟弟疯狂的玩耍，偶尔也会发一点小脾气。但我相信，我终有一天碰见生人，能够像在家里那样从容不迫，跟他们谈笑风生。

介绍完我的性格，接下来就介绍一下我的兴趣爱好。 我是一个极爱看书的超级书粉，家里的书我都翻了个遍。渐渐地，家里的书已经不足够我的阅读量，我就常常跑去书店，有时心急，连钱都忘了带，又怕好书被买完，只好捧起书，倚靠在书柜上，有时看得眼睛酸疼，脚无力支撑也不舍放下，只好抱紧书，蹲在地上，微闭双眼，以求暂时的休息，但总是迫不及待的想去看完。有时厚厚的一本书也被我在几十分钟内迅速秒杀，然后把智慧吸入脑子中，在回家的路上不断地去体会这本书的内容，脑子中的疑问慢慢地一个一个解答出来。

我不仅爱看书，而且对画画有一定的兴趣。不论在草稿纸上，还是在白纸上，凡是我碰过的，都被画个目不惨睹一整张纸连一个角落也不肯放过。正是这种坚持不懈的作画，现在我已经能够把人画得栩栩如生。
