Last week, I took part in an English speech contest which was held by our teachers. There were twelve students in the final contest. I was one of them.

Fifteen minutes before my turn, I picked my topic and prepared for it. I wrote down the outlines and organized what I was going to say. However, when I stood in front of all judges and students, I was extremely nervous. My mind was totally empty.

虽然日本侵略中国的历史已经过去很多年，我们处在一个尚且和平的年代，但是，我们仍不能忘记日本人曾经犯下的罪行。我们祈盼和平，也忘不了那段历史。

1937年，日本侵略者以炸毁东北铁路为借口，嫁祸中国军队，开始了侵华战争。日本人大举侵略中国，疯狂掠夺中国的财产，杀害中国老百姓。那是一段悲惨灰暗的岁月，中国人民经过长达八年的抗日战争，击退了日本侵略者，也涌现出了很多民族英雄。
