humble opinions of the learning environment in our school.

Today, I would like to recommend to you a picture book of traditional

Chinese festivals, Spring Festival.

Spring Festival is the most grand, the most lively and the most important

ancient traditional festival in China. Every Spring Festival, we paste couplets,

red window decorations, and "pour" blessing. But why should the word "Fu" be

pasted upside down? It turns out that the word "Dao" and "Dao" are homophonic,

and vice versa is Fu "Dao". Its like "Fu" is home.

During the Spring Festival, we should not only paste couplets, red window

decorations and "pour" happiness, but also set off firecrackers and fireworks,

and wear red clothes. After reading this book, I realized that there was a

monster called Nian in ancient China. It went to the village to eat cattle,

sheep, chickens, pigs and people every year. Until one year, an old grandfather

who came to the village to beg lived in his wifes house when the villagers went

to avoid animals in the cave. When the "Nian" beast came, he set off

firecrackers in the yard and came out wearing a big red robe. In this way,

"Nian" beast was scared away. Since then, people have pasted couplets, red

window decorations and "Daofu" on their doors. They also set off firecrackers

and fireworks, and put on red clothes. If you are interested, dont read this

book.

Then there is the new years money. Every year on the eve of the Spring

Festival, adults give children lucky money. The original purpose of lucky money

is to suppress evil and expel evil spirits. Because people think that children

are vulnerable to the invasion of ghosts and insects, they use new years money

to drive away evil spirits and help children celebrate the new year safely. I

wish the children good health, good luck and peace in the new year. There is

also an old legend. This legend has something to do with a little demon called

"Sui". You will know after reading this book.

In a word, after reading this book, I gained a lot and also felt the spirit

of Chinese traditional culture. So I want to share with you, hope you will like

it!

Mothers Day is a celebration honoring mothers and celebrating motherhood,

maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in society. Its a day to show

thanks to mothers. This festival first appeared in ancient Greece and modern

Mothers Day originated in the United States which usually falls on the second

Sunday of May each year. Mothers usually receive gifts on this day and

carnation(康乃馨) is regarded as the flower for mother. In China, the flower for

mother is day lily(萱草花), also known as Nepenthe(忘忧草). In addition, cleaning up

learned and lived on campus for nearly two years, I have found university life

most exciting and instructive.

What happens around me every day has left a deep impression on me, but what

strikes me most is the canteen service on campus, so that for some time I have

had the keen desire to write to you, sharing with you my positive comments on

and negative feelings about it. On the one hand, we are happy to see that the

canteen staff has been sparing no efforts to guarantee food quality. As a

result, we are relieved from the anxiety that some food might be dirty, stale

and inedible. We also feel contented with the service provided by the canteen,

enjoying food in a homely atmosphere. On the other hand, improvements should be

made for the simple reason that prices for dishes are unreasonably high, and

that the canteen is not spacious enough and too noisy at times.

Therefore, to improve the overall service of the canteen the strengths

should be encouraged, while the weaknesses ought to be overcome by lowering

prices and expanding the canteen if possible.

After a short time, a green parrot hopped out of the enchanted zoo, and

back towards the town. As he was hopping about, the animal control came and

shouted to the green parrot; the parrot understood, and started to fly up. The

van of the so called, “Animal controller”, followed until the gas ran out. He

had no choice but to give up.

Now of course, the green parrot escaped out of sight, and found some twigs

that were going to help him be comfortable during the whole time freedom. When

the pirate Captain Cook came back from his journey; he stopped a while to find

treasure on an island during his way pass. Once or twice a time he would turn

back and sail for land, and so he couldn’t make up his choice. At last he got

the treasure from his mates, and started for land immediately, they kept the

treasure in a box, which had a code of handsome Ship. None of his mates knew

that, so that whenever they wanted to steal some gold from the Captain, they

would have to enter the code.

Now let’s go back to the parrot; the parrot was actually having a pretty

good time, but his nest became a pretty kettle of fish. His eyesight was not too

bad either; nor his ears, except they were as small as an ant. When Captain.

Cook’s ship came closer to land the parrot was all ears to hear what he was

saying. “Mates, you go down and fetch as many gold as you can, while I stay

here, I had a long week of sailing this ship; and so I’m going to stay in my bed

and kick back.”

His mates were like servants and obeyed immediately, the parrot however;

heard his every word, and wanted to stay with the captain and live. He had a

plan, and then he flew down and tickled a mate’s toe. The mate laughed, and the

parrot stopped. When the mate paid attention to the parrot, the mate said, “How

are you doing?” the parrot answered, “Great; how are you doing?” “Not too bad,

thanks;” “Take it easy,” they soon became friends, and chatted all along, “So,

can you give me a home to live on the ship?” “Sure thing, piece of cake;” when

they got the parrot on the ship; the captain came out, and became friend with

the parrot also.

The parrot gave him advice, and he became wealthy and returned all the

gold, but kept the treasure he found himself on other islands; and when people

trouble the parrot, the captain with which will defeat those guys with his

mighty sword.

Every year on the fourth Thursday of November is Thanksgiving Day. It’s a

festival for American and Canadian with the purpose of thanks for harvest. While

canadians celebrate on the second Monday of October. I have a penfriend in

America. He wrote to me his Thanksgiving Day last year. He told me that it was a

time for family reunion. Families would come back home to celebrate the festival

together. Most of the time it was his mother who prepared the dinner. Turkey is

must for the festival. It looks like huge chicken. His mother also made pumpkin

pie and many other delicious food for them. After the dinner, they talked with

each other with the old thing or the future plan. He said sometimes they would

invite some friends to share the happiness of Thanksgiving Day. In a word, he

had a great time on Thanksgiving Day.

You know, I had planned this holiday for several years. A t last, my dream came true. You could imagine how excited I was. My mind was completely occupied with the holiday. My first stop is London. It is raining. The streets are very clean. How I wish I could have the chance to see the famous London fog. But someone told me that was already the history. One can only read things like that about London in books.

爸爸的爱藏在责骂和鼓励中。我和姐姐是爸爸眼中全部的希望。而我的成绩则是点燃希望的火种，在小学的6年中，我的成绩一直是爸爸最大的牵挂，在考试之后，如果考砸了，回家肯定少不了一顿责骂，当时我一直在想：“爸爸，你为什么不能给我点鼓励?”经常含着泪花入睡，一觉醒来，枕头都湿了。如今的我，长大了。进入初中，我算是把自己看透了：小时候，想让我自己自主学习几乎不可能!只有责骂才能让我记住这次耻辱，然后发奋学习。进入初中，每逢考试，无论成绩与否，您都不会再责骂我，取而代之的是温馨的鼓励。当然如今的我已经能对考试成绩做出认真的分析。在此，我想对爸爸说一句：“爸爸，儿子长大了，您不用再操心我的学习了。”

妈妈的关爱藏在永无止境的唠叨中，自从我记事开始，我很少有一天没听到过妈妈的唠叨，除非我不在她眼前，而她常唠叨的无非是我干错了什么事，害她来收拾。有时我在想：您收拾就收拾吧，为什么非要唠叨两句?如今我长大了，才发现，如果我把家中弄得很乱，而这时我又不在妈妈眼前，她就不再唠叨，只是默默收拾。看来，妈妈只是想让我下次别再这样，才在我面前唠叨。所以，我也想对妈妈说：“妈妈，儿子长大了，但还是会听你的话!”

感谢爸爸妈妈给我和姐姐无止境的爱。

There was once a little girl named Anna, that wanted to have magic in this

world; but she knew that her mother would just only laugh at her if she had told

her. And so she decided to go on the adventure on her own.

She got everything that she needed to complete her mission, and then

started off without a word to say. She headed out to the woods, and found a

little tree house nearby; she climbed up there with a ladder, and found lots of

books and shelves there. She found a book about knights, and turned to a page of

pictures of knights long ago; and how they battle enemies such as that. Anna

wished so much that she could go there.

After that she fell asleep, and then she opened her eyes, and found her on

the ground; as if she were asleep… She thought it very weird, that she was here;

at first she was at the tree house, then she was at the grass plot.

She got up, and walked through looking for an exit, then she found the book

that she was reading before; she knew that she must have gone into the knight’s

story because of her wish. She picked up the book, and looked around; The book

suddenly moved like magic, then, she found the books end; there were some words

written all over it.

She read in out loud, “If you want to escape this land you are in, all you

have to do is try and face all the knights, there are four of them; good luck!”

then she began searching for knights, but what she did before that was to think

about how to defeat them… She walked along the road, and finally saw a big tree

with a sharp branch; she had an idea of how she could face the knights; she

broke down the branch, and kept on searching. She was not quite ready for

beating them, for she just needed some other things in order to defeats them…

She kept on her journey, and suddenly realized a big rock; she was tired and so

lay on it. Then a crack came on her back, and the rock got up. Anna was

astonished, she stood up and said, “Who are you?” then the rock replied. “I am

the alive rock and I suppose you are Anna;” “How did you know my name?”

The rock took a breath and replied, “Because I heard your voice ever since,

I know you are looking for some new weapons to defeat knights…” “I most

certainly am alive rock,” and she bowed down. The rock then said, “I suppose I

can be of much use to you, I am going to come with you; and see whether there

are dangers…”

And so Anna and the alive rock moved along, suddenly they came to a big

giant tree; the tree said slowly, “Who are you that dare come to my place?”

“Ah!” shouted Anna, “Alive tree!” “How did you guess my name?” asked the talking

tree; “Because-because your, a-liv-e!” “Yep! And that’s my neighbor;” answered

alive rock. Anna then said; “OH, well I suppose you can be a lot of use to me

when I defeat knights!”

“Knight? Defeat? Ha! That is already the easiest sport I could think of! I

had defeated knights for like 2089 times!” “What?!” asked Anna rather surprised,

then she gulped and answered; “Then you must come with me!” answered Anna

proudly. And so the three of them marched down, until they came was a big knife;

the knife turned around and said, “Who are you little girl?” “Ah!” shouted Anna

again, “That’s our neighbor too!” replied alive tree and alive rock

together.

Anna then said, “Oh, then you must come with me; I have to defeat knights!”

“Oh,” answered the knife, “Then I suppose I could be a lot of use to you, now

all we are missing in the alive shield…” He didn’t even finish until, “What?!”

shouted Anna, “Don’t shout Anna!” replied alive tree, “This isn’t fake, it is

true; follow knife!”

Then knife led the group to where the big shield was, he was brushing his

face when they arrived, “Oh, hello everybody; and hello little girl named Anna!”

“How did you all know my name?” “No time for that!” shouted alive rock, “We have

knights to defeat!” “And you must come with us alive shield!” “No problem!”

shouted he, and then the group marched off.

They at last reached the knights hiding spot, the four knights answered;

“We shall destroy you!” speaking of which, the knights charged toward Anna’s

group; “Attack!” shouted Anna. Alive tree, alive rock, alive knife and mostly

alive shield charged toward the knights. Seeing such a fright, the knights said,

“You know what; maybe today is not the day boys…

Then the knights were destroyed by the alive group team.

Suddenly a flash came upon Anna, and she vanished out of sight; “Where did

she go?” asked the group. Then she shook their heads, and went back to their

homes…

And for Anna, she got back home; and she at last knew that magic is really

magic…
