签约工业项目中，引人瞩目的是中海石油天然气及发电有限责任公司与汕头市政府合作规划的“汕头LNG接收站和管网项目”。据悉，规划接收站建成后，每年可生产250万吨环保清洁的液化天然气，以及架设200公里长的主干管线，一期工程投资预计45亿元。目前，该项目正在争取列入国家LNG发展规划。中海油总公司副总经理蒋龙生表示，当LNG能源项目在汕头建成之后，每年拉动当地经济消费、配套产业发展的收益可达五至十倍。

三年前曾出现经济负增长的汕头市，如今已走出谷底，经济呈现“回暖”景象。汕头市统计局提供的最新统计数字表明，今年前三季度，全市实现生产总值430.68亿元，比增9.3%，一般预算财政收入17.52亿元，比增18.5%.

汕头市经贸局负责人说，新一任市委、市政府发出了近年来汕头市领导层对工业强市最强劲的声音。如今，全市各区县把加快工业发展作为首要工作来抓，积极引资。在今天经贸活动上新签约的54个项目中，工业项目占了47个，投资额约26亿元。
