All in all, students should be sent to abroad to study so that they can attain more knowledge and also become more independently.

Then tie the rest onto your pole like this.” He demonstrated with his own materials, and I followed his example. Then he thrust both our torches into the fire and handed me mine. “Now run!”

And run I did----we all did. For miles and miles around, as far as I could see, there were small orange specks scattered about, and I could hear the distant screaming and laughing of other children running up and down the rice field path. For several hours into the night I helped build fires and keep an eye on the younger children. Occasionally I, too, lit a torch and ran around like a mad man, screaming and waving a flaming bamboo pole.

This festival, which occurred six days before Chinese New Year, was just one of the experiences during the visit to my friends over the Spring Festival. As it was explained to me, the purpose behind this festival was to allow the children to have fun burning up all the straw leftover after the harvest. Later, the ash is used for fertilizer.

What’s more , individuals, organizations and even the whole society have been attaching due attention to this issue. On one hand, when facing the pressure of finding a job, students are struggling painfully. The burden can cause not only depression but also anxiety and such problems as isolation and solitude. A great change is now taking place in higher education throughout our country。 Teachers are being held responsible as never before for how well they serve their students。 It has become as common in colleges and universities for students to grade teachers as for teachers to grade students。 In some universities students＇ rating has even become the only source of information on teaching effectiveness。

This， however， has caused great controversy。 Some are in favor of the rating system。 They hold that since students attend the teachers classes everyday， they should have their opinion about their teachers＇ effectiveness。 Others， on the contrary， are strongly against it。 They think that students＇ rating is easy to administer and score， but it also is easy to abuse。 They believe that there is much more to teaching than what is shown on students＇ rating forms。 Students should not be expected to judge whether the materials used are up to date or how well the teacher knows about the subject。These judgments require professional knowledge， which is best left for the teachers＇ colleagues。

I think students＇ rating of their teachers is necessary， but it should be conducted in a way that can really shed meaningful light on teachers＇ performance。 Instead of rating the teachers＇ knowledge on the subject， students should be asked to estimate what they themselves have leaned in a course， and to report on such things as a teacher＇s ability to communicate with students， his relationship with students， and his ability to arouse interest in the subject。

She is kind and friendly to us after class, but She is rather strict with us in class. She always encourages us to speak and read more English. She often says,"Practice makes perfect." She is good at teaching and tries her best to make every lesson lively and interesting. She often gives us slide shows, teaches us English songs and helps us to put on short English plays. She is not only our teacher but also our friend. We all respect and love her.

Tomorrow she is going to attend an important meeting, at which she will be given a medal for her advanced deeds.
