One day, Ji An said to Emperor Wudi that the way the emperor used his ministers was just like piling up firewood, which meant that the latecomers surpassed the old-timers. Of course, Emperor Wudi could see that Ji An was complaining. So,turning to his ministers, Emperor Wudi said, "It is true that no one can stop learning.You see, Ji An is making more and more indiscreet remarks."

This story comes from The Historical Records. Later generations use the set phrase "the latecomers surpass the old-timers " to indicate that successors can cxcel the predecessors, which is quite different from the original idea when Ji An said that the latecomers surpassed the old-timers.

保罗和小男孩循着小男孩的目光望去，只见透过玻璃壁柜，他们看见了一颗精巧别致的圣诞树。上面挂满了精美包装的礼物。保罗的眼睛又一次湿润了，他在心里暗暗下定决心：一定要帮助小男实现这个愿望。于是他对小男孩说：“许个愿吧，也许会有奇迹呢!”小男孩和他弟弟闭上眼睛许了个愿。此时保罗却悄悄来到柜台前，买下了那辆小弟弟梦寐以求的小汽车，轻轻地放在他们面前，说：“你们看，圣诞老人来过了。”

他们两个见了兴奋得尖叫起来：“这是真的吗?不会是梦吧?”他俩一直喃喃着几句话。哥哥激动地说：“是真的，你有了一辆玩具小汽车!”就这样他们度过了一个美好的夜晚。

圣诞节是西方最隆重的一个节日!不过在我们国家圣诞节也非常地流行。在这个节日中大家要准备一颗圣诞树，树上要挂满漂亮的装饰品，和一个大大地圣诞袜。在平安夜里就会有一个圣诞老人来给我们送圣诞礼物。这不，圣诞节这天我就收到了礼物——一个漂亮的中国娃娃!

它是一个小小的中国洋娃娃，身高只有十厘米左右。粉白粉白的脸蛋上嵌着一双大大的黑眼睛，一个小鼻子微微翘起，鲜红的小嘴像在偷偷的乐。它长着一头浓密的短发，在漂亮的短发上面带了一顶用绿色藤蔓编成的小洋帽，旁边还有一个棕色的发卡，看起来可爱极了。它的身上穿了一件红蓝相间的裙子，上面还镶嵌了四颗大大的水钻呢!脚下穿一双黑色小皮鞋。看起来像一个漂亮的公主。

A new experience

Yesterday I did commonweal in library to earn my public service

scores(which is similar to the compulsory credits).I arrived library at 8’clock

in the morning,a librarian let me to wipe the mirror in every toilet from one to

six floor.Then I started to wipe the mirrors.It was been two hours after I

finished all work.I was very tired,but looking at the shiny and clean mirrors I

had wiped, I felt very happy.To be honest,I had never done the things like it at

home,so it was a new experience to me,and it make me realize the hard work of my

parent.

一次新的体验

昨天，我在图书馆做公益去获取公益实数(类似于学分)。我早上8点到达图书馆，一个图书馆管理员让我去擦一楼到六楼的厕所里的镜子。然后

就开始擦镜子了。等我完成了所有的工作，已经过去两个小时了。我非常地累，但是看着被我擦得干净闪亮的镜子，我感到很开心。说实话，我在家里从来没有做过像这样的事情，所以，这对我来说是一次新的体验，这也让我体会到了父母的艰辛。
