Table Manners

The main difference between Chinese and western eating habits is that unlike the West, where everyone has their own plate of food, in China the dishes are placed on the table and everybody shares. 第一个是“八字”故事。故宫里建筑最特别要数它门和柱子，他们都是下宽上窄成八字形，崇政殿外有十个亭子，一边五个亭子，两边亭子排列成外八字。满族人为什么喜欢八呢？因为满族人是少不了八旗，靠着八旗力量赢得了天下。

第二个故事是关于清朝“清”字来历。原来清朝“清”是这个“青”，代表着从草原来民族。后来努尔哈赤在跟明朝打仗时候发现明朝“明”是日月“明”，在五行中代表“火”意思，而“青”代表草，火可以烧草，这怎么能打败明军呢？努尔哈赤就非常聪明在“青”字边上加了三点水，就成了后来清朝了。也就有了故宫凤凰楼三层楼故事，每一层代表一滴水，三层代表三滴水。水大可以灭火。

第三个是殿低宫高故事。沈阳故宫为什么宫高殿低呢？第一因为他们是马背上民族，努尔哈赤先打仗后有家。第二个原因是满族人有这样一个习惯，他们长期在草原上生活，为了防止野兽袭击，所以把住处修得很高。到故宫以后，他们把这个习惯保留下来，把宫建在了高处，把殿建在低处。而北京故宫正好相反。还有一件事就是努尔哈赤在接见大臣时候是坐在炕上而不是坐在龙椅上。
