One of the most serious problems man is facing is pollution. The poisonous waste may do harm to the things around us. The air pollution can bring death to some people and kill trees and vegetables. Some people believe that economic development should never be at the cost of the environment.They think the present serious environmental problems are largely caused by rapid?economic development.For example,land resources are shrinking because of the industrial development and the expansion of cities.Deserts are spreading because of over grazing,poor fanning,tree cutting,and strip mining.Our air and water supplies are being polluted by poisonous gassesand waste products.It is important,therefore,that we should take another look at the way in which our industries and cities are developing.

How to protect theenvironment has become one of the biggest problems in the world .

It’s our duty toprotect our environment .No matter where we live ,we should do something tokeep our neighborhood clean and tidy .We can collect waste paper or otherwaste things for recycling.We should plant more trees and we should preventthose factories from pouring waste water into rivers,lakes and fields.We shouldn’t leave rubbish everywhere andspit in public places .We mustn’t pick the flowers or step on the grass inpublic.If everyone tries his best to protect the environment ,the world willbecome much more beautiful and our life will be better and better .

As a supervisor of HSE management in an oil company, I can see the environmental protection in a different way.

In 1989, an oil tanker hit a rock off the northwest coast of Alaska. 35,000 tons of oil poured into the sea. The accident was one of the worst in history. More than 34,000 birds and 10,000 animals were killed. 4,800 square kilometers of ocean were polluted.

Secondly, when oil tankers use ultrasonic waves to test underwater oil stocks, many whales sensing system is spoiled by the instant powerful ultrasonic bolt. Once they were hit by a ultrasonic bolt,they were almost deaf. They cant effectively respond dangerous surroundings around them and are liable to be reeled in the engine of oil tankers or be killed by whaler and other natural enemies.Thereby,we can see the quantity of whales declines very fast.

Its a shame that a great many oil companies havent even realized that. Highly attentions needs to be paid on to keep improving the exploring technology of drilling work on the sea.
