小时候我爱吹柳哨，就死缠着姥爷，让他给我做柳哨。姥爷服了我，就用长了老茧的大手，做了很多柳哨，我把哨发给了小朋友们，比谁吹得响。当然，我把最响的留给了自己，所以每次第一都是非我莫属!

如果夏天的夜晚我和几个同性朋友，在有着月光灯的路上摸路，慢慢前进。到了姥爷家，我们就又缠着姥爷讲故事。明月、柳树和我们，津津有味的听着姥爷讲的新鲜趣闻和解放初期的战斗故事，小朋友们那欢乐的笑脸，我一生难忘!

I am a third year master major in automation at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, P. R. China. With tremendous interest in Industrial

Engineering, I am writing to apply for acceptance into your Ph.D. graduate program.

Education background

In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science & Technology (NUST) -- widely considered one of the China’s best engineering schools. During the following undergraduate study, my academic records kept

distinguished among the whole department. I was granted First Class Prize every semester,In 1999, I got the privilege to enter the graduate program waived of the admission test.

At the period of my graduate study, my overall GPA(3.77/4.0) ranked top 5% in the department. In the second semester, I became teacher assistant that is given to talented and matured students only. This year, I won the Acer Scholarship as the one and only candidate in my department, which is the ultimate accolade for distinguished students endowed by my university. Presently, I am preparing my graduation thesis and trying for the honor ofExcellent Graduation Thesis.

Research experience and academic activity

When a sophomore, I joined the Association of AI Enthusiast and began to narrow down my interest for my future research. With the tool of OpenGL and Matlab, I designed a simulation program for transportation schedul-ing system. It is now widely used by different research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilled a sewage analysis & dispose project for Nanjing

sewage treatment plant. This was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.

In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D. program. My future research interests include: Network Schedul-ing Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research (especially in GA and Neural network), Supply chain network research, Hybrid system performance analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.

I’m glad to introduce myself to you. My Chinese name is Ma Lin, but you can call me Rock, my English name. I chose Rock to be my English name because I want to be as tough as a rock, hehe. I was born and raised in Guangdong, so I speak both Cantonese and Mandarin.

I’ll soon graduate from Zhongshan University, majoring in accounting. I am very glad to be here for this interview. First let me introduce myself. My name is abc, 25 years old. I come from Weifang, a beautiful city of Shandong Province. I graduated from Commercial College in July, 2001 and major in finance. Then, I was a teacher in abc, When I was a senior school student, I am interested in thought and began to read a certain classic work of Marxism, especially I finished reading “the florilegium of Mao ZeDong”. From then on, I have dabbled in more and more theoretical works and accumulated great interests in theory study, especially in Marxism.

猫它差不多在春、夏、秋、冬都在生娃儿，有时是一个月怀，一个月生。在然家的那只小猫也是这样，猫一般只会坐三四只小猫，最多我也不清楚。猫像狗、鸡什么的也会换毛，猫一生下来为一次，长大后换上第二次。

闷热的夏天，吃上爽口的水果，既解渴又消暑，是多么惬意的事情。八月是龙眼盛产的时节，我们这群馋猫来到西丽麻磡龙眼园摘龙眼。

经过十几分钟的车程，我们来到了龙眼园。刚下车，一大一小两只黑狗就向我们走来，别看我表面上很冷静，其实，我的心里乱得就像十五个水桶——七上八下。幸好它们的目标不是我，真是把我吓坏了。接着，我们拿着几个筐上山去摘龙眼了。山上的龙眼树可真多啊!树上还结了很多龙眼，让人看了禁不住想摘下来猛吃一顿。但是龙眼园的阿姨告诉我们这些龙眼还要过一阵子才能吃，我们只好继续往前。这时，我们发现了一条虫子。噢，原来是传说中的鼻涕虫啊!它根本就是蜗牛没了壳的样子，两个触角还向我们挥手，真是太可爱了!

趁着我们观察鼻涕虫的间隙，张峻玮手脚并用爬上了一棵大树。正当他神气十足向我们炫耀的时候，却发现自己下不来了。我们狂笑不止，那笑声大得响彻云霄。最后，在大家的帮助下，张峻玮终于顺利回到陆地。这时，一座独木桥挡住了我们的去路，大人们已经走远了，没法求助，我们几个小屁孩只好勇敢地冲了过去。走了一小段路以后，终于看见了一棵棵结满了龙眼的果树，这些饱满的果实充满了诱惑，于是我们立刻加入了大人们摘龙眼的行列。不过，我们摘下来的龙眼可全都送进了我们的嘴巴。所谓“积少成多”，大人每到一处地方就摘一点，很快，就有两大篮龙眼啦!这时，我们的肚子里也装满了新鲜的龙眼肉。于是，我们按原路返回。回到小屋后我们发现了一群可爱的小鸭。我们先是追着小鸭四处跑，接着居然抢着剥龙眼肉给小鸭吃。看着小鸭子们吃的津津有味，我们都好开心!

我叫____，其实我这个名字非常好记，因为只要在袁凯的中间加一个世就就会变成袁世凯了。我来自美丽的老淮安，那里到处都是田园，景色非常的秀丽。我今年十四周岁了，毕业于____小学。家里有六口人，我有一个非常调皮的妹妹。

我的爱好特别多，例如拳击，乒乓球，电脑，象棋等等，这都是爱好。不过我最大的爱好还是拳击和象棋，因为拳击除了可以增强我们的身体素质，还可以防身呢。然后就是象棋因为象棋不但可以增长我们的计谋，还可以让我们在下棋中交到更多的朋友。

It represents a new beginning when people send off the old days and welcome the new ones. As the first day of the year, Yuandan has been considered to be the most important festival since the ancient times.

Customs

1. Kaisui(beginning of the year): According to the Chinese traditional custom, starting from haishi(9p.m. to 11p.m.)of the last evening of the twelfth lunar month, each family must prepare offering s to deities at the altar. At the same time, they too prepare food for the New Year day: The whole family will then stay awake together to attend to the year(called shou sui). After haishi, zishi(11p.m. to 1a.m.)will come, and this is the arrival of New Year(Yuandan). At this moment, people begin the celebration with fireworks. Vegetarian and sweet foods will then be placed are the altar for offerings, and incense be burned to welcome the deities. In the ancient times, it was believed that haishi connected the two years and thus was called kaisui.

At the same night, some families will follow the instruction in Tongshu and place preparing altar in the direction of the "fortune deity" during the "fortune time" to receive the deity. If the direction of the "fortune deity" is at the "ill position", people will choose to receive "happy deity" or "noble deity" instead.

2. There is an apparent difference in the custom of food taking on Yuandan between the Chinese in the northern and southern regions. The northern Chinese has the habit of taking jiao zi(dumpling made of flour with vegetable and meat wrapped inside). Some people may put a sweet or a coin inside jiao zi, hoping to have a sweet year after tasting the sweet and a wealthy year after tasting the coin. on the other hand, the southern Chinese have the taboo for killing on Yuandan. Therefore, they do not take meat in tee morning of Yuandan, so as to avoid bloodshed or mutual slaughter. In order to evade misfortune, they have the first meal of this day without meat. Instead, they take vegetarian food for the sake of virtue.

3. What is special during the New Year is that parents or elders will distribute red packets(ang pao or ya sui qian)to the children. People in the ancient times were more particular in giving away the red packets: the distribution took place on the eve of New Year so that the kids could suppress the past year and enter the New Year. Ya sui has the meaning of overcoming the unpredictable future. Representing the wishes for the healthy psychological growth of the children, ya sui qian symbolises the elders hope to see their children overcome all the unpredictable elements brought by the "year".
