联合国环境规划署在每年的年初公布当年的世界环境日主题，并在每年的世界环境日发表环境状况的年度报告书。中国国家环保总局在这期间发布中国环境状况公报。

中国从1985年6月5日开始举办纪念世界环境日的活动，以“青年人口，环境”为主题 。自此之后，每年的6月5日全国各地都要举办纪念活动。1993年北京被选为举办庆祝活动的城市，其主题是“打破贫穷与环境的怪圈”。2014年4月修订公布的《中华人民共和国环境保护法》第十二条：每年6月5日为环境日。

我们的校园坐落在绿树环绕的狼山脚下，与奔腾不息的扬子江为伴，因风景秀丽的五山得名，是由近代实业家张謇先生创建，已有百年的历史了。学校占地面积11931平方米，现有24个教学班，一个市一类幼儿园10个班。“交通警察学校”、“航模特色学校”、“足球训练基地”等素质教育之花，更是使我校享誉社会各界。

一走进我们的校园，首先映入眼帘的就是那几棵高大的水杉，这也正是我校最好的百年见证。瞧，前方就是我们的花圃，花圃中的小花开得正旺，这个小花圃一年四季都变换着。春天，一棵棵迎春花竞相开放，一串红一团团，簇拥在一起。夏天，一朵朵喇叭花吹着集合的号角，吸引来了一群群小蜜蜂。秋天，山茶花占了主场，各自展现着自我。冬天，那一簇簇腊梅花凌寒怒放。再看看上面的雕像，这尊雕像屹立在校园的中央，这尊雕像全身用汉白玉精细雕琢而成，两名小学生一手托着火箭，一手指引着前方的道路。雕像的底座上刻着“希望之星”四个刚劲有力的大字，寓意我们是祖国的未来和希望。

花园的后面就是我们宽敞明亮的两幢三层楼的教学楼，洁白的瓷砖墙面和明净的窗户，把大楼装扮得分外的美丽。不时传来朗朗的读书声和操场上同学们的嬉戏声，使我们的校园充满了生机和活力。教学楼内设一流的微机房、音乐室、图书室、美术室、舞蹈室等多功能教室，为我们提供良好的学习条件。教学楼的西墙面张贴着“勤学守纪、文明守纪、严谨执教、求实高效、博学善思、刻苦求精”二十四个大字，全面展示着我校的办学理理念。

浓浓的师生情更是无时不刻充满了我们的校园。记得我刚入一年级时，什么都处于懵懂的时候，是老师教会我如何认字算术，是老师帮助了我如何提高学习效率，也是老师教导了我要如何做人。正是这样，我的学习生涯才能勇往直前，我的人生道路才能一如既往。

百年的校史，使校园文化更是丰富多彩，学校的墙壁上到处贴着南通的名人以及的名言警句，时刻提醒我们牢记作为学生的主要任务。学校的绿色长廊分外醒目，同学们手抄报和我们参加活动的瞬间照片更是为其增添了几分生机。在这里我们能够快乐的学习，快乐的创作，快乐的运动，快乐的游戏，快乐的唱歌。每每看到这所有的一切，无不让我久久沉醉其中。

这就是我那美丽的校园，我们在这里学习、成长，这里有我们成长的足迹、留下了我们美好纯真的童年。

时光如流水般悄然而逝，不知不觉已经两年了，在这短短两年里，我们的小学发生了很大的变化，可以说是出人意料的事情。整个校园焕然一新，再也没有以前那么破旧，现在已经改头换面的校园让人看了心里都倍加舒畅，从杂草丛生到鲜花怒放，水泥操场到柏油操场，从树木稀少到绿树成荫当然，这一切变化都离不开换了个校长。

以前，一到校园门口，就看见一扇简陋的铁门矗立在眼前，而且因为下雨的缘故，这扇经不起风吹雨打的铁门已经掉了漆，生了锈。走进校园，满地都是石子，全都是石子路。我觉得这样的石子路很危险，因为如果低年级的小朋友相互追逐打闹，若是摔了一跤，后果将不堪设想。向右望去，是一个小操场，操场是水泥地，天气晴朗的时候，如果待在操场上的人比较多的话，就容易滋生灰尘，灰尘进入人体对小朋友的健康也有影响。操场上没有体育设备，缺少运动器材，有的只是一个孤零零的操场。

环顾四周，你会发现学校里没有种什么树，而且杂草丛生，可见校园里的绿化做得并不是很好。望向教学楼，看上去十分简陋。走进教室，里面没有什么先进的教学设备，有的只是一个破烂的讲台，有好有坏的桌椅，连黑板都有裂缝，教室的光线还不是很好，特别是下雨天，即使开了灯也会显得很阴暗。教室里只有两把风扇转啊转，每到夏天，空气都显得燥热，更不用说人了，同学们都自带小扇子扇啊扇，在这样的条件下学习也很辛苦啊！爬上楼梯到了第二楼，老师的办公室在这里，走进去，有几张桌子拼凑在一起，桌子上摆满了书，办公室的空间也不大。再往上走，到了第三层，只是有几间空荡荡的教室，平时也不会有什么人，上面还有一个小房间，是给老师住的。唯一一栋教学楼，其实并没有什么可观性。

走下楼梯，教学楼的后面有一条水沟，可是不下雨的时候，低年级的小朋友就喜欢玩操场上的石头，把石头带到了水沟里，然后高年级的学生就要把里面的石头全都扫出来，记得我也扫过，一条长长的水沟，扫干净真的是不容易。再往前看，就是厕所了，厕所是那种老式的蹲坑，又脏又臭，还需要人每天提着水桶去冲厕所。我认为打扫这样的厕所真的需要忍耐力。平时，我们学校也不会举行什么活动，同学们也很少参加什么比赛。

终于，在我五年级的时候，我们换了个校长，他来了之后，实施了一系列政策，自此，我们的学校发生了翻天覆地的变化。

开学第一课时，我们见到了这个校长，他说话语气很和蔼，看起来也和蔼可亲，我们瞬间喜欢上了这个校长。通过与这个老师的相处，我们发现他的教学方式很特别，是我们很喜欢也乐于接受的那种方法，于是，我们的学习成绩也直线上升。期末考试时，我们的数学成绩得了全镇第一，把中心小学多年的第一给抢了。以前那个校长教我们的时候，没做好习题总是打人骂人，教学方法也不怎么好，所以我们的成绩也是倒数第几。现在我们都十分开心，不仅学习成绩提高了，而且我们语数英的成绩都保持在前三。

现在，你一站在校园门口，就能看到一扇又高又漂亮的校门，还有一面五星红旗在水面迎风飘扬。走进校园，你会看到原先的石子操场不见了，它已经变成了柏油操场。操场上还有体育设施，有篮球架，有乒乓球桌，还有羽毛球场。环顾四周杂草被铲除干净了，郁郁葱葱的树木像是校园的守护者，笔直的挺立在学校周围，还修建了花坛，花坛里能看到一朵朵美丽的鲜花绽放，构成一条亮丽的风景线。

主教学楼旁边还建了一个幼儿园。幼儿园十分漂亮，五颜六色的，教室里有空调，有电视，一眼望去，围墙上还有许多标语。我们的教学楼也变得更好了。教室里有了多媒体教学设备，换上了新桌椅，讲台也焕然一新，黑板也更换了。墙上贴了好多字画供大家欣赏，门也变成了防盗门，窗帘也变得好看了，楼道上还有好多诗词和名言警句。教师的办公室也变得更大了，每个老师还有一台电脑，办公室还新增了打印机，换了新的办公桌。教学楼也更好看了，五颜六色的，我们还有专门的校歌了。学校还设立了音乐室、微机室、实验室、心理咨询室、少先队员活动室、留守儿童之家、图书室、食堂等，总之，我们的学校现在什么都应有尽有。

这个校长还定制了校服，换了一套广播体操，还有口号，校园活动也渐渐多了起来，我还经常参加比赛呢。我们学校以竹竿舞为特色，同学们都变得很积极，很阳光，经常参加各种各样的活动，兴趣也变得广泛起来。

我为学校发生的巨大变化感到自豪，不仅要感谢这个英明的校长，更应该感谢的是我们的祖国。

Saving Water

The world is not only hungry,but also thirsty for water. This may seem strange to you, since nearly 75 % of the earths surface is covered with water. But about 97% of this huge amount is sea water, or salt water. Man can only drink and use the other 3% -- the fresh water that comes from rivers, lakes,underground, and other sources. And we cannot even use all of that, because some of it is in the form of icebergs and glaciers. Even worse, some of it has been polluted.

However, as things stand today, this small amount of fresh water, which is constantly being replaced by rainfall, is still enough for us. But our need for water is increasing rapidly-- almost day by day. Only if we take steps to deal with this problem now can we avoid a severe worldwide water shortage later on. A limited water supply would have a bad effect on agriculture and industry. Let me give you just one small exampie of how necessary water is to industry. Did you know that to produce a single ton of steel, it takes about 91, 000 liters of water?

We all have to learn how to stop wasting our precious water. One of the first steps we should take is to develop ways of reusing it. Experiments have already been done in this field, but only on a small scale. For us, the systems are as important as the spacecraft.
