Today is the annual mid autumn festival. In the evening, darkness began to fall. The little birds of the sky have long called back to their nests. The sunset faded away, and their eyes were gone. The black curtain covered the whole land. The moon has risen into the sky, trying to drive the darkness away.

"Wow, the moon is so round today."!" My brother suddenly shouted to me. I said: "how to make a fuss about it, Mid Autumn Festival, the moon is big and round."!" "Right enough!" Next to her sister went on to say. At this time, I found that the stars in the sky are extremely rare, is really bright ah!

Today evening dishes especially rich: sweet and sour fish, green asparagus soup boiled chicken ribs...... It really makes me look dizzy. When I had dinner, I felt very delicious and enjoyed it very much. Usually I have to eat more than half an hour for a meal. I eat very fast today. In less than ten minutes, I finished my meal. My father praised me for my fast food! I smiled and thought, "if every day the dishes are so good, then my meal will certainly eat every day quickly.". Today, there are so many people in our family that we really have a family reunion dinner.

After dinner, after some time, I went to the moon cake box open, and then give everyone a moon cake. They sat in the yard eating moon cakes and admiring the moon. I looked up at the golden yellow moon in the dark blue sky. I didnt want to mention how happy I was!

Moonquakes are to Mid-Autumn Festival what mince pies are to Christmas. The seasonal round cakes traditionally have a sweet filling of lotus seed paste or red bean paste and often have one or more salted duck eggs in the center to represent the moon. And the moon is what this celebration is all about. Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th month,it is the time when the moon is said to be at its brightest and fullest.

There are two legends which claim to explain the tradition of eating moonquakes. One Tang Dynasty myth holds that the Earth once had 10 suns circling it. One day all 10 suns appeared at once, scorching the planet with their heat.

It was thanks to a skillful archer named Hour Yi that the Earth was saved. He shot down all but one of the suns. As his reward, the Heavenly Queen Mother gave Hour Yi the Elixir of Immortality, but she warned him that he must use it wisely.

Hour Yi ignored her advice and, corrupted by fame and fortune, became a tyrannical leader. Chang-Err,his beautiful wife, could no longer stand by and watch him abuse his power so she stole his Elixir and fled to the moon to escape his angry wrath. And thus began the legend of the beautiful woman in the moon, the Moon Fairy.

The second legend has it that during the Yuan Dynasty,an underground group led by Zhu Yuan Zing was determined to rid the country of Mongolian dominance. The moon cake was created to carry a secret message.

When the cake was opened and the message read,an uprising was unleashed which successfully routed the Mongolians. It happened at the time of the full moon, which, some say, explains why moonquakes are eaten at this time.

Moonquakes are usually stamped with Chinese characters indicating the name of the ry and the type of filling used. Some ries will even stamp them with your family name so that you can give personalized ones to friends and family.

They are usually presented in boxes of four which indicate the four phases of the moon. Traditional moonquakes are made with melted lard, but today vegetable oil is more often used in the interests of health.

Moonquakes are not for the diet-conscious as they are loaded with calories. The best way to wash down one of these sticky cakes is with a cup of Chinese tea, especially Jasmine or Chrysanthemum tea, which aids the digestion.

Chusok ("fall evening") is a Korean "Harvest Moon" (Han-gawi) festival set

on the 15th day of the eighth lunar moon. Chusok (韩国中秋节), also known as the

Korean Thanksgiving or Mid-Autumn Festival, is one of the most celebrated Korean

holidays. It occurs during the harvest season. Thus, Korean families take this

time to thank their ancestors for providing them with rice and fruits.

The celebration starts on the night before Chusok and ends on the day after

the holiday. Thus, many Korean families take three days off from work to get

together with family and friends.

The celebration starts with a family get-together at which rice cakes

called "Songphyun" (蒸糕) are served. These special rice cakes are made of rice,

beans, sesame seeds, and chestnuts. Then the family pays respect to ancestors by

visiting their tombs and offering them rice and fruits. The Koreans visit the

graves of their ancestors to bow and clean the area for the coming winter. In

the evening, children wear their favorite hanbok (traditional Korean clothing)

and dance under the bright moon in a large circle. They play games and sing

songs. Like the American Thanksgiving, Chusok is the time to celebrate the

family and give thanks for their blessings.

Community activities include masked dance, Kanggangsuwollae, an ancient

circle dance, tug-of-wars and the tortoise game, kobuk-nori (乌龟游戏), in which two

men dress as a tortoise and tour the village dancing and performing for food and

drink. Most of all, Chusok is a time to give thanks for the autumn harvest and

reaffirm familial and community ties.

Mid-Autumn Festival (also known as the Moon Festival), the third major festival of the Chinese calendar, is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month, as the moon is supposed to be at its maximum brightness for the entire year.

The moon definitely spins countless legends throughout the ages. Of course, the most famous legend is the one surrounding the "lady living in the moon" that dates back to ancient times, to a day when ten suns appeared at once in the sky. The Emperor ordered a famous archer to shoot down the nine extra suns. Once the task was accomplished, Goddess of Western Heaven rewarded the archer with a pill that would make him immortal. However, his wife found the pill, took it, and was banished to the moon as a result. Legend says that her beauty is greatest on the day of the festival.

Another legend depicts a possible role that the festival played in Chinese history. Overrun by the Mongols in the thirteenth century, the Chinese threw off their oppressors in 1368 AD. It is said that mooncakes - which the Mongols did not eat - were the perfect vehicle for hiding and passing along plans for the rebellion. Families were instructed not to eat the mooncakes until the day of the festival, which is when the rebellion took place.

The most lunatic mortal in Chinese history could have been the great poet Li Bai (701-762 AD), who once invited the moon to have a drink with him and his shadow to form a band of three. Li finally drowned in a lake in an effort to catch the moon when he was drunk one night.

The festive night can be one of the most charming and picturesque nights and the full moon is an auspicious symbol of abundance, harmony and luck. For thousands of years, the Chinese people have related the vicissitudes of life to changes of the moon as it waxes and wanes; joy and sorrow, parting and reunion. In Chinese culture, the family represents an important circle of relations that cannot be broken. Because the full moon is roound and symbolizes reunion, the festival is also known as the festival of reunion. All family members try to get together on this special day. It is a happy occasion where people feast on scrumptious mooncakes. Some Chinese families today still stay up late to observe the occasion eating mooncakes, sipping tea and gazing at the beautiful moon. It is regarded the perfect moment if someone catches the moons reflection in the center of his or her teacup. Those who can not return home watch the bright moonlight and feel deep longing for their loved ones.

The mid-autumn festival has all interesting history。 long ago in one of the dynasties of china there was a king who was very cruel to the people and did not manage the country well。 the people were so angry that some brave ones suggested killing the king。 so they wrote notes telling about the meeting place and time and put them into cakes。 on the 15th day of the 8th luna027art。/r month every person was told to buy the cakes。 when they ate them they discovered the notes。 so they gathered together to make a sudden attack on the king。 from then on the chinese people celebrate on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month and eat "moon cakes" in memory of that important event。

When the mid-autumn festival is near, shop windows are beautifully decorated。 many "moon cakes" are displayed for people to buy。 people send presents such aswine, fruits and "moon cakes" to their friends and relatives。 in the evening of the day, they have a feast。 after the feast, they go out to the garden to look at the moon。 the children run and laugh on the streets。

It is believed that the moon is at her brightest on this night。 many poems have been written about it, and poets are never tired of reading and writing such poems。 in chinese literature, the moon of the mid autumn festival has been pared to a looking-glass, a jade rabbit, and so on。 it seems that chinese literature takes far more interest in the moon than in the sun。
