The book is a little difficult to read at first. Personally, it takes me a little while to get used to the 19th century dialect in the book. 要想上好写作课，就要熟悉高考对学生写作的基本要求。《普通高校招生全国统一考试大纲》中英语学科对写作的基本要求是，注意"应用词汇和语法结构的数量、上下文的连贯性和语言的得体性"；最高档次的的给分要求中还要求考生能够"应用较多的语法结构和词汇；......尽量使用较复杂结构或较高级词汇，具备较强的语言运用能力；有效地使用语句间的连接成分，使全文结构紧凑"等等。

2）过程-体裁教学模式为学生独立写作提供了直接的语言输入。师生通过在课堂上的理解语言、分析语言、运用语言及讨论语篇的结构和语言特点对学生进行有的放矢的直接语言输入，大大减轻了学生写作的盲目性。

3）该方法为师生提供了评判作文的标准。师生在分析语篇的宏观结构、词汇、语法及构篇步骤过程中，逐渐形成了一套评判自己作文优缺点的标准。

学生在写作学习中存在的问题和面临的困难在过程-体裁教学法的指导下得以改善，这正是高中英语课程标准的基本要求。只有在基础阶段利用教材中或同等难度的地道的阅读材料，通过引领性分析，才能使学生学会审题，构建作文框架，选择适当句式，学会连句成文。
