The Origin of Halloween

While there are many versions of the origins and old customs of Halloween, some remain consistent by all accounts. Different cultures view Holloween somewhat differently but traditional Halloween practices remain the same.

Halloween culture can be traced back to the Druids, a Celtic culture in Ireland, Britain and Northern Europe. Roots lay in the feast of Samhain, which was annually on October 31st to honor the dead.

Samhain signifies "summers end" or November. Samhain was a harvest festival with huge sacred bonfires, marking the end of the Celtic year and beginning of a new one. Many of the practices involved in this celebration were fed on superstition.

The Celts believed the souls of the dead roamed the streets and villages at night. Since not all spirits were thought to be friendly, gifts and treats were left out to pacify the evil and ensure next years crops would be plentiful. This custom evolved into trick-or-treating.

Everyone has a hero, and the hero in my heart is Qian Xuesen, one of the most famous scientists in China.

He was the man who gave his whole life to his motherland- China. When he was young, he studied in many famous universities in the world, being very hard-working, Then he won many prizes and had many famous inventions.Now,he is the person who make our country stronger and develop faster. And everyone in China will not forget him.

He knew wherever he was, he was a Chinese. I learned a lot from him. So I won’t forget him and he is the hero in my mind

“我们自古以来，就有埋头苦干的人，有为民请命的人，有舍身求法的人……这就是中国的脊梁。”2020年我们迎来了首个不速之客——新型冠状病毒肺炎，自1月23日武汉封城起，一场没有硝烟的抗疫之战打响了。

为众人抱薪者，必为众人所铭记。钟南山院士，是疫情中的逆行者。它不仅仅是战士，更是勇士。2003年广东“非典”蔓延的那一刻，钟南山院士向省卫生厅请缨：“请把最危重的非典病人往我们这里送。”时隔17年，这位在危险来临时不退缩，依旧义无反顾地奔赴在第一线的老院士已经84岁了。当防空警报拉响的那一刻，他仍旧选择出征，与命运进行搏斗。高龄的他却有着更高尚的自我奉献精神。

李文亮——“疫情的吹哨人”，2月7日凌晨，因病情恶化，经抢救无效。是他，敢于面对疫情的来临，不屑于逃避，为抗击疫情拉响警报。这位慷慨善良的人为了祖国，为了人民，为了伟大的科学事业，不畏惧困难，奉献了自己。

一位95后的医生接到上级的任务，二话不说，说服父母，立即出发，风雨无阻，克服了重重困难：两次走过长江大桥，骑行四天三晚300多公里，才到达了前线，这就是使命与担当。疫情虽阻碍了交通，却无法阻止那一颗颗跳动着的充满活力的心。是他们这一类人，让人人恐惧的疫情充满了人间盛情。

“一个真正的爱国主义者，用不着等待什么特殊机会，他完全可以在自己的岗位上表现自己对祖国的热爱。”同是医生，有人自觉留守，主动隔离;有人趁机逃脱，幸灾乐祸。悲观者看到了问题，而往往只有乐观者才会去解决问题。一方有难，八方支援，我们身边各个医院都会有前去武汉支援的志愿者，他们不退缩，知其不可而为之，只因心中对祖国那份深沉的挂念。那群白衣天使，临危受命，重整旗鼓，踏上那条满是荆棘泥泞的征程，他们愿舍小家为大家。

直至3月20日，那增长趋势猛然如虎的疫情已经慢慢地被我们控制了。这离不开我们共同的努力，更离不开这日益强大的祖国。我们作为当代的青年，经过这场来势凶猛的疫情，应加倍努力，刻苦学习科学文化知识，肩负起属于自己的责任，实现中华民族伟大复兴。我们更应该懂得，只有国家强大了，我们的生活才会有所保障。家是最小国，国是最大家，我们应该对自己的祖国心存敬意，心存感激。

望着窗外那墨色濡染的天空，我的心里泛起点点涟漪。哪有什么岁月静好，只不过是有人在替你负重前行。如果我们失去了自己的那份责任，那么，枪响之后没有赢家。

疫情当前，向那些担起责任的平凡而又伟大的人致敬!

According to the variety of social background, personal experience and

personal emotion, differernt people have different opinions towards things.

Thus, there is no doubt that generation gap exists everywhere. We always find

that there are big differences between us and the old generation. We always

regard the old are outdated, while they think us are crazy. They can’t bear the

dress we like, the fashion we pursue or even our childish thinking. Instead, we

could put up with their standpat thingking and their “feudal rulers”. Thus, the

generation gap becomes more and more obvious and serious. However, why don’t we

realize that opinions can be changed, while people can’t. So, we can think in an

other way, learn to accept. It is certain that we can narrow the generation gap

to live a more harmonious life.
