My hometown is beautiful place It stands near a wide river at the foot of low green hills. It has many tall buildings and wide streets. There are trees and flowers everywhere.

For the working people there were only dark, unhealthy rooms in old buildings and huts in narrow muddy streets. Nearly everyone was poor and many had no work.

Everything has changed since liberation. The people, led by the Party, have got rid of the mud and dirt. They have put up schools, theaters, shops and flats. They have an assembly hall and a hospital. Along the river they have built offices, hotels and parks. A lot of factories have sprung up. On the river, streamers and boats come and go busily, day and night. They carry the products of our industries to all parts of the country.

I love my hometown, and I love its people. They also have changed. Healthy and happy, they are going all out to build socialism.

This summer, I move to a new city with my parents, and I transfer to a new

Everybody has a best friend that they can share everything with. I also

have a best friend. We met in school, and were in the same grade.

My best friend is a good student because he is very hardworking. I learn a

lot from him. He helps me with math; I help him with English. We always help

each other. Besides that, hes honest and reliable. I trust him completely and

we share secrets all the time.

My best friend is a loyal and brave boy. When a bully teased me, he came to

my rescue right away. He always remembers my birthday and he is fun to be with.

He tells funny jokes and stories. He always makes me laugh. Finally, he is a

My Home Town我的家乡My home town is a beautiful place. It stands beside a wide river and is rich in fish and rice. But in the old days it was a poor and backward little town. Many people had no work. They lived a hard life. In 1949 my hometown was liberated. Since then great changes have taken place there. The streets have been widened. Factories, schools, hospitals, cinemas and theatres have sprung up one after another. The life of the people is greatly improved. I love my hometown. All the more I love its people. 每年五一、十一，我们全家聚会，都要买上一两只烤鸭，当奶奶把烤鸭端到桌上时，我看见烤鸭的皮焦黄焦黄的，上面的油珠闪闪发亮。哎呀，我忍不住咽了咽口水，真让人馋涎欲滴呀!我把头凑过去，深深地吸了口气，一股浓香扑鼻而来。

爷爷告诉我："我们的北京烤鸭在世界上都是很有名的，用的材料是优质肉食鸭——北京鸭，它颜色红润，肉肥而不腻。因为它颜色红艳，肉质鲜嫩，味道浓香，肥而不腻的这些特色，所以它被称作天下美味。"听了爷爷的话，我拍着桌子说;"真棒啊!我们北京的烤鸭原来这么出名呀!"

这时候，我忍不住就要吃起来了，爷爷笑着说："别急，别急，吃咱们的北京烤鸭也有一番讲究呢。你知道吗?一只2公斤重的鸭子，能片出108片鸭肉片呢，而且片片有皮带肉，薄而不碎。大小均匀，吃到嘴里酥香鲜嫩，独具风味。用筷子挑一点甜面酱，抹在荷叶饼上，放几片鸭肉盖在上面，再放上几根葱条、黄瓜条或萝卜条，将荷叶饼卷起，真是好吃极了。"照着爷爷说的方法，我拿起一张圆圆的、热乎乎的，像纸一样薄的荷叶饼，托在手心里，抹酱、放鸭肉，夹上黄瓜和葱丝儿，小心翼翼地卷了一个卷儿。我把鸭饼放在嘴里，美美地咬了一口：脆脆的黄瓜、浓郁的酱香、香美多汁的鸭肉、甜滋滋的荷叶饼，那味道——真是美妙极了!
