The Chinese have specific way to celebrate their new year. If you walk down the street in Chinatown during Chinese New Year, you see a variety of ancient traditions such as red banners, firecrackers and lion dance performances, streets are filled with lively celebration.

However, legend has said that the new year has not always been a time of festivity. An Asian Chinese story told a chilly start to this festive holiday, it begins with an ancient Chinese beast called Nian.

Every New Year Nian would rise from swelling in the sea to ravage Chinese village in livestock and hurting people. The villages soon found out from a wise gray-haired old man that the only way to scare the beast away was to set off firecrackers and light lamps and to hang red banners on each door. As the story goes, this was the beginning of a tradition that would last thousands of years.

So this story leads to the creation of many of other traditions for celebrating Chinese New Year. lets take a look at some of these traditions.

端午节下午，吃完美味的粽子后，爸爸带我到佛昙镇看赛龙舟

比赛快开始了，随着鞭炮声响起，来自各个村的十二条龙舟，一字排开。你瞧，那些龙舟一艘艘威风凛凛，像一个个守卫边疆的战士。每条龙舟都有一个负责吹哨子和打鼓的指挥员，负责划龙舟的是十四个人，每条船总人数为十五个。各个队伍分别穿着不同颜色的队服，红色、蓝色、绿色等，队伍名称也以衣服颜色来命名为红队、蓝队等。他们每个人头上都绑着红布，上面写着两个苍劲有力的黄色大字——“奋斗”。

激烈的比赛落下帷幕，蓝队因为永不言弃的团队精神一举夺冠。他们的精神使在场的观众既佩服又感动。

端午节让我更加了解爱国诗人屈原的生平和端午节的习俗，也让我感受到了浓浓的端午节节日气氛，更让我领略到了团结协作的精神风采。

这几年，许多同学都在假期补课，而且从来没有补过，由于我喜欢玩，不喜欢学习。眼看着新的假期又要来了，我们班上的许多同学都在报名被课。有的同学喜欢补数学；有的同学喜欢补作文；大多数同学喜欢补英语，由于英语太难啦！对我来讲，英语好像从来没有及格过，看着同学们都积极学习的样子，我也有些心动了。

这“新型冠状病毒”的爆发点是在湖北省武汉市，听说这种病毒可能是从人类乱吃蝙蝠等野生动物开始的。简直太恐怖了，人类为什么要吃野生动物？书上不是说要我们人类和动物成为好朋友的吗？我真有点不敢相信。疫情爆发后的武汉全面封城，我从新闻里看到了武汉医院里人满为患，医生、护士冒着被感染的风险日夜奋战，在生死一线抢救病人；武汉市民被隔离在家，隔着电视屏幕，我都能感觉到他们的害怕和无助。幸好，全国各地人民向他们伸出了援手，有捐款的，有捐医疗物资的，还有捐蔬菜和食物的，大家纷纷为武汉捐献自己的一片爱心。我也通过妈妈的微信捐赠了20元钱。虽然钱不多，但我相信，只要有更多的人献出自己的爱心，我们就一定能战胜这场疫情灾难！

作为一名社区干部，我的老爸也奋战在防疫一线。从大年三十到今天，他一天也没有休息过，每天在社区指导工作，带领工作人员挨家挨户进行排查：从武汉、浙江回来的，去过湖北、浙江的，途径湖北、浙江的，老爸他们都要上门登记并叮嘱他们在家隔离，每天定时上门给他们测量温度，上报数据。除此之外，他每天还要开很多会，听取上级工作布置，汇报社区情况……我已经一个多星期没有见到他了。上次回来，他一进家门就冲进卫生间洗澡，生怕把病毒传染给我和妈妈。每次跟他通电话，他都心不在焉，三句话讲不到就跟旁边的人讨论工作的事情，唉………真是不忍心打扰他。听妈妈说，老爸每天都要工作到半夜，饭也不能按时吃，真是太辛苦了。我跟妈妈说：“我有点想爸爸了，而且老爸不在家，我有点缺乏安全感。”妈妈摸摸我的头说：“爸爸维护的是更多人的安全，这叫‘舍小家，为大家’，我们应该尽全力支持他。”妈妈说得很有道理，我为老爸的敬业精神点赞。

希望这次疫情能快点结束，还我们一个喜庆、团圆的春节，给我们一个健康、平安的中国！
