新春佳节之所以是一个极为重要的节日，是因为通过这个节日的庆祝仪式，能加强家庭联系与亲情。诸如吃团圆饭、向亲友拜年送礼等等，这些习俗都在提醒人们，家庭在社会中的中心地位。世界各地凡有华人聚居的地方，无不隆重而热烈的庆祝这个节日。新春佳节的庆祝活动，从农历正月初一开始到农历正月十五，一连15天。

古代帝王继位，为了显示“天子”的权威，往往自立历法，因此历代元旦月日都不一致。汉武帝继位，决定重修历法，使之统一。今日我们所采用的历法是汉武帝以后，经过多个朝代修定的。

历代皇室庆祝“新春佳节”的场面往往反映出那个朝代的强盛、稳定与繁荣，国家越富强，庆祝仪式就越隆重。

为了接待亲戚朋友上门拜年，家家户户都在节日前把住家里里外外，打扫得干干净净。一些家庭还在门上贴上春联，写上吉祥联语，祈求好运，年年丰收。

为什么到了春节我们都要放鞭炮，贴春联呢?
