New York is the first big city in America. It is the world’s commercial

center and there are many sites that attract people from all over the world to

take a visit. One of the famous sites is the Statue of Liberty. Everybody knows

this great site and it has become the symbol of New York.

The Statue of Liberty stands on an island of the New York City harbor. It

is the tallest building ever built. When people get there, they will see a woman

holding a torch of fire. In her feet, people can see the chains that are broken,

which means she gets away from the restrictions and chases for freedom. There is

a book on her right hand, which is the Declaration of Independence.

The complete name of this statue is Liberty Enlightening the World. It is

the present from French people to American people. The meaning of friendship and

freedom are shared by both countries. Today, the meaning of the Statue of

Liberty is shared by the world. People can feel the peace when they see this

image.

This is our school. There are many classrooms in it.There are eight hundred students and sixty-nine teachers in our school. There are many trees and flowers in it. All the teachers and students like our school very much.

We come to school at seven.We havefour classes in the morning and two in the afternoon.

Our classroom is big and clean. We have lessons here. We do our homework at home.

All the students study hard.

成长的步伐到来了，成长的烦恼也紧随而来。让人整天都笼罩在忧郁中。 The pace of growth has arrived, and the troubles of growth follow closely.People are shrouded in melancholy all day.

“你怎么这么粗心，英语的大写字母写成小写字母;数学不是小数点忘了加，就是死脑筋转不过弯;语文也是，不该错的总是错……成绩总是没有提高!”从上初一开始，这类话就常常在我心头萦绕。有时候是父母批评的话语，有时候是我的自训，有时候却是妹妹的挖苦。

我也想要把成绩提高上去，不过总不能称心如意。不是这一科失手，就是那一科败下阵来。这些都是我始料未及的。谁不想考个好成绩，可是每个人的能力不同，所尽的努力也不同，所以收获的“果实”也有干瘪和饱满之分。因此我也只能说一身一声：“尽力而为!”了。

人生有竞争才会精彩——这是我安慰自己的话。但尽管如此，仍有不少烦恼让我挥之不去：作为一名学生，我告诉自己成绩不能太差;作为女儿，我告诉自己不能让父母大失所望;作为姐姐，我告诉自己要给妹妹一个好榜样……因此，烦恼也就日益增多。

可是反过来想想，如果好成绩那么容易就让我得到，那岂非大失它本身的意义，也失去了人们想要拥有它吗?这样想想，烦恼固然减少了许多。却有另外一种看法在脑海中形成——这以上的话虽具有一定的道理，但未免太过于幼稚，就有点像吃不到葡萄就说葡萄酸。没有努力争取，好成绩是不会送上门来的。所以，烦恼仍像一个影子，无时无刻都在跟随着我。这也许是庸人自扰，但的的确确，这应该是大部分同学所面临的烦恼。

要解决这个烦恼的办法是学习，学习，再学习。“最近比较烦，比较烦……”我现在终于明白这首歌曲实际上唱出了我们青少年面对学习的烦恼所表现出的无助与茫然。成长的烦恼在不断涌来，希望我们能招架住所有烦恼的“袭击”，学着在烦恼中健康成长!

我的家乡就是一个山清水秀的地方，那就是——南靖。她位于福建省的西南部，然后那里气候怡人，四季如春。

听爷爷说，爷爷小时候那里还就是一座座美丽的森林。但就是，之后人们到处偷砍树木，就变成这天的样貌――山上到处就是空地，山村也没有几棵像样的大树了!听了这话，我就下了一个决心：长大后要重新把南靖变成一座充满绿色的大乡村!

听爸爸说，他小时候那里生活着许多青竹蛇、猫虎等动物，经常有人被青竹蛇咬伤了，猫虎还经常夜里跑下山来捉走鸡鸭。不知人为还就是自然环境不适应它们的生活，此刻几乎见不到它们的身影了。于就是，我也暗下决心，长大后把那里变绿之后，还要让这些动物从别的地方重新回到它们以前生活过的家!

我的家乡还有两座很有名的山(只就是在我们南靖很有名)，然后那就就是麒麟山和紫荆山。麒麟山能够在我们这儿自称“树山王”了，因为那里树最多，远望去象绿色的海洋;而紫荆山就是我们这儿的“山王”，因为它就是县城的山了，那儿树也很多，绿绿的。

我的家乡还有一条九龙江的支流，也叫母亲河，那就就是荆江。在江面上，横跨着一座高大雄伟的中山桥，桥上无论就是早晨还就是傍晚，都人来人往，就是人们休闲散步的好地方。如果你站在桥上做一次深呼吸，那你上定会说：“这儿的空气真好啊!”

我的家乡还流传着许多美丽的传说，有麒麟送子、山狗让佛┄┄等等。我爱我的家乡，南靖。

Thank you for a rapid response to our invitation. Enclosed you will find an outline of events to take place during International Week here at the University of Montana. I will also list a number of possible speaking engagements so that you can choose those things in which you are most interested. As far as topics are concerned, the topics for classroom visits are generally determined by the professor, but most professors are very flexible. We have approximately thirty-five faculty members that teach courses in Asian Studies, ranging from language and culture to history and economics.

Here is a tentative schedule:

Sunday, April 8th

10 am - Cultural Exhibition opens

12 am - International Festival begins with a speech by the university president and an introduction of visiting dignitaries

1-5 pm - Opportunity to visit festival, interact with student performers, taste foods

6 pm - Dinner with Director of Mansfield Center Phil West, Ambassador Mark Johnson, and staff of Mansfield Center

几天没回老家，家就被一群不速之客占领了。这不，我正看着书呢，腿上就不知不觉多了个又红又肿的大包。起先我毫不在意，可没过一会儿，包就一个接一个出现。我开始挠，越痒越挠，越挠越痒，最后连皮都挠破了。我把书一丢，恼怒地站了起来，誓要把蚊子消灭干净!

我找来电蚊拍，在刚刚“流过血”的地方打响了第一枪，马上就听到电蚊拍发出的啪啪声，还伴着一股烧焦的气味，旗开得胜!可是得意没过一分钟，我便开心不起来了，那些蚊子好像知道我要来电它们，纷纷躲了起来，不管我怎么寻找怎么挥拍，就是逮不到一只。

我灰心了，垂头丧气地想要放弃，突然看见一旁的水桶里漂着几个黑黑的小点点，“会不会是蚊子?”我赶紧蹲下身，好奇地凑过去细看：真的是一窝蚊子，祖孙三代都在那里面呢!我以迅雷不及掩耳之速拿起“法宝”，想大展一番拳脚，发现水很满，电蚊拍无用武之地，怎么办呢?我想了一个办法：把电蚊拍横放在桶口，用手固定住，用脚轻轻踢着桶身，受不了震动的蚊子飞了起来，有的直接撞上电蚊拍死了，有的躲过一劫从缝隙里飞了出来，被我眼疾手快拍死了，最后，我把桶里的水统统倒掉，重新换上清水，这么一来，我把蚊子的老巢都端干净了。

我拿起书，重新坐在椅子上，大声说了一句：“终于消停啦!”

春节来了，超市里挤满了买年货的人。路上的车也少了许多，因为很多人都要开车回老家过年。家家户户更是贴上了春联，准备着过年呢!而今天是除夕，一大清早，我就要和妈妈坐车回姥姥家包饺子了!

到了姥姥家，已经是下午了。妈妈先让我把手洗干净再包饺子。我仔细地洗完之后，决定先看妈妈怎么包，我再开始包。看着妈妈灵巧的双手将一个个饺子包好，我特别佩服，感觉妈妈包的饺子真是漂亮。我便下定决心一定要将饺子包好。我先拿起一张饺子皮，用勺子舀了一些肉馅，放在饺子皮里，再用双手把饺子包好。可是当我包好之后，由于我放的肉馅太多了，饺子皮上破了一个洞。我赶紧进行“救援”——把另一张饺子皮包在这个破洞上，总算包好了，可是我一看，这个饺子却有一个“大肚子”。真叫我不好意思。那怎么办呢?就把第二个饺子包得好看一点喽!想到这儿，我便开始包起了第二个饺子:我拿了一张圆圆的饺子皮，又用勺子舀了适合分量的肉馅，放在皮里，再用手把饺子包好。就这样我的第二个饺子完成了。妈妈看了之后，笑容满面的对我说:“呦，我们的女儿会包饺子了!”我听完之后，心里美滋滋的。

吃饺子的时候，我特别开心，因为我吃到了自己的劳动成果呀!吃完后我开开心心地进入了梦乡。第二天早上是大年初一，我便给姥姥和姥爷磕头，磕完后，我收到了姥姥还有姥爷的压岁钱，心里别提有多高兴了!而我同时也祝福姥姥姥爷身体健康，万事如意。对了，过年这天我还跟姥姥去赶庙会了。仅仅一天，我和姥姥就挣了不少钱呢!回到家里后，姥姥还把没卖玩的零食奖励给我吃呢!

看，这就是我家的春节，很有趣吧!

America, they always choose New York as their destination. New York has many

world-famous tourist attractions and people can find them in the Hollywood

movies. The Statue of Liberty is one of the symbolic building, which represents

America. The statue is a gift to the people of United States from people of

Today, the meaning of this statue is admitted by the world and when people see

时间永远凝固在2008年5月12日14时28分。那一刻，孩子朗朗的书声戛然而止;那一刻，繁华的街市突然变得死寂;那一刻，归家的路变得遥遥无期。这次5.12汶川特大地震，夺取了多少鲜活的生命呀!

这次大地震，许多孩子都失去了父母亲人，成了孤儿，他们幼小的心灵受到了多么严重的打击啊!可他们脸上露出的仍是天真无邪的微笑。因为他们选择了坚强，在困难面前抬起了头，擦干了他们泪水。

在一片废墟之中，有一个感人事迹，永远铭记在人们的心里。有一个三岁左右的小男孩在被救援人员解救出来的那一瞬间，举起了他那稚嫩的右手，向救出他的人们敬礼!这是一个不规则的军礼，这代表着一份怎样的敬意?!

他们都是因为坚强，所以不会感到很痛苦。有时候我认为，一次考试失败没什么可以痛苦的，只要努力下次一定会考个好的成绩，还有当我们在跌倒的时候，不要难过，因为这是在考验我们的意志力的，只要我们学会坚强，多大的困难都会过去的。

在我成长的道路上，充满了坎坎坷坷、曲曲折折，还蕴藏着喜怒哀乐……

有一次，我数学得了一百分，原来是我刻苦学习、仔细检查争取的。因为我看到全班只有我一百分，所以便骄傲自大。我回去后，马马虎虎地写完了作业;去做作业时，不屑一顾;也不去复习课文。这时，有个同学请教我一道题，我高傲地说：“这都不会，自己动脑筋想。”又一次数学考试到了，我趾高气扬地走进教师，自以为是地开始答题。我考完了后也不检查，趴在桌子上睡觉。心想：“我一定稳操胜券，一百分非我莫属。”出乎意料的是：我的分值一落千丈只拿了九十分。妈妈知道后，苦口婆心地对我说：“虚心使人进步，骄傲使人落后。”看着妈妈语重心长的样子，我坚定地点了点头。从这以后，我一直用妈妈这句话鞭策自己的学习。

还有一回，下课后，我去了一趟厕所。回来上课时，我一如既往地坐下去。意想不到，椅子“搬家了”。“噗通”我坐到了地上。全班乐翻了天，一个个哈哈大笑。我火冒三丈开始环顾四周，发现一个同学笑得前仰后合。好啊，难道是他干的。哼，下课再去找你，现在放你一马，下课后，我找到了他，准备捉住他和他讲理，让他道歉。不料，他脚踩西瓜皮——溜之大吉了。我们追来追去，最后，我在走廊的死角那儿“捕获”了他，我不由分说，问到：“你为何要不知羞耻的去做恶作剧?”他回答：“那又咋了?”便跑开了。于是，我以其人之道还治其人之身—拿开他的椅子。他中计后，哀叫着，我甩下一句：“既所不欲，误矢于人。”

多么丰富多彩的人生之路啊!

国庆节早上我和爸爸妈妈一起看国庆节大阅兵。

胡锦涛同志坐上车，缓慢的向前驶去。每经过一个，都会高喊“同志们好，同志们辛苦了。”解放军就异口同声的回答：“为人民服务。”然后，我们的胡锦涛同志登上天安门城楼开始阅兵。

解放军一个方队一个方队的大步朝主席台过来。他们步伐非常整齐，铿锵有力。有步兵、炮兵、女子兵、后勤、炮弹等方队，炮弹方队里有最先进的导弹，这些导弹都是我国科学家用汗和血研制出来的。有了这些先进的武器，别的国家就不敢欺侮我们了。

我爱我的祖国，祝福我的祖国生日快乐!我长大了要当科学家，要让世界各国互相帮助，和平相处。

年年辞旧岁，岁岁迎新年。元旦节，这个一年一度令人释怀、兴奋的日子，对于我，自懂事的时候起，似乎就没有过个什么鲜样来，以往这时候发生过什么，脑海里象个抽空的瓶子，没有一点印象。2009年元旦节不同了，这天所做的所做的事，仿佛已深深地铬在心间，想必以后应该不会再没有痕迹了!

今年的元旦节，妻儿提出了一个小小的要求，要求我挤出元旦节这天时间，陪他们攀岩。这个要求，是妻儿早在几年以前就提出了的，因为工作忙，始终满足不了他们。

儿子酷爱体育运动，尤其是攀岩运动，经常在学校的比赛中拿奖。他要求我陪同做一次户外山体攀岩与他比赛，妻子十分赞同。我很明白他们心里面在想着什么——儿子想要一个多陪陪他的健康的爸爸;妻子想要一个身材“苗条”的健康的丈夫!这是他们多年来的共同愿望!

读书时，我也很爱好攀岩，儿子算接上我了，这是喜事!不过，这玩艺已十多年没玩了，不是因为懒，主要是工作忙，没有时间。要说空闲的话，只能指望节假日，但每逢节假日的时候，又需要把时间放在请客访友上，为今后的工作打好基础。因此节假日，家都很少回，居住老家的母亲，怕已有三、四年没看了，想起来就很内疚，觉得自己太自私、太不孝!

与几位朋友有个同感，参加工作后，因为时间关系，平时很少体能煅练，满天吃吃喝喝的，体形越来越胖，走路都觉吃力。妻儿的要求太合理了，应该支持!不要再让他们为自己的身体担忧，增加心理负担。再说，往年的元旦节老是吃吃喝喝的，今儿少一年也不会损了什么，老掉牙的生活方式没有太大意义。今年答应他们的这个要求，也是偿试一下节假生活的新滋味。

The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, usually

in February or March in the Gregorian calendar. As early as the Western Han

Dynasty (206 BC-AD 25), it had become a festival with great significance.

This days important activity is watching lanterns. Throughout the Han

Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), Buddhism flourished in China. One emperor heard that

Buddhist monks would watch sarira, or remains from the cremation of Buddhas

body, and light lanterns to worship Buddha on the 15th day of the 1st lunar

month, so he ordered to light lanterns in the imperial palace and temples to

show respect to Buddha on this day. Later, the Buddhist rite developed into a

grand festival among common people and its influence expanded from the Central

Plains to the whole of China.

Till today, the lantern festival is still held each year around the

country. Lanterns of various shapes and sizes are hung in the streets,

attracting countless visitors. Children will hold self-made or bought lanterns

to stroll with on the streets, extremely excited. "Guessing lantern riddles"is

an essential part of the Festival.

Lantern owners write riddles on a piece of paper and post them on the

lanterns. If visitors have solutions to the riddles, they can pull the paper out

and go to the lantern owners to check their answer. If they are right, they will

get a little gift. The activity emerged during peoples enjoyment of lanterns in

the Song Dynasty (960-1279). As riddle guessing is interesting and full of

wisdom, it has become popular among all social strata.

People will eat yuanxiao, or rice dumplings, on this day, so it is also

called the "Yuanxiao Festival."Yuanxiao also has another name, tangyuan. It is

small dumpling balls made of glutinous rice flour with rose petals, sesame, bean

paste, jujube paste, walnut meat, dried fruit, sugar and edible oil as filling.

Tangyuan can be boiled, fried or steamed. It tastes sweet and delicious. What’s

more, tangyuan in Chinese has a similar pronunciation with "tuanyuan”, meaning

reunion. So people eat them to denote union, harmony and happiness for the

family.

In the daytime of the Festival, performances such as a dragon lantern

dance, a lion dance, a land boat dance, a yangge dance, walking on stilts and

beating drums while dancing will be staged. On the night, except for magnificent

lanterns, fireworks form a beautiful scene. Most families spare some fireworks

from the Spring Festival and let them off in the Lantern Festival. Some local

governments will even organize a fireworks party. On the night when the first

full moon enters the New Year, people become really intoxicated by the imposing

fireworks and bright moon in the sky.

嗨，大家好!我叫吴海琼。

今年11岁，长着一张圆圆的脸，一双不是很大的眼睛，说起我的眼睛，那是几多欢喜几多愁。愁啥?视力呗!这两个多月的线上学习，已经让我的眼睛走进“老龄化”，还好勉强能接收线上的学习信息。挺立的鼻子下有一张大大咧咧的嘴巴，说到耳朵，在我的周边也算是独一无二的，因为我的耳朵长了一个胎记，爸爸告诉我，在医学上这个被称之为附耳，有的时候会有很多的同学感到好奇，会问我这耳朵咋会这样子呢?其实我也不明白咋回事，反正父母告诉我这个是胎记。

我最喜欢做手工和画画，专门做一些漂亮的小花，一些小的装饰品，只要我的作业做完，我就会抽出点时间去做手工，在做手工时我也会抽出点时间去画画，给我那一些半成品的装饰品上色，让它们变得更漂亮。记得有一天晚上，我在房间里睡不着，就开着灯在床上做早上还没做完的手工，过了一会儿我听到了脚步声，我知道是妈妈来了，想把这手工收拾起来，然后装睡，但是都来不及了，妈妈已经推开我房间的门，带有命令式的口气说:“时间都几点了?还不赶紧去睡”我心有不舍地把手工的东西放到地板上。因为我爱手工和画画，它让我体会到，有付出就有收获的成就感。

我呀!还有一个最大的特点，那就是——马虎，在做数学题时，把乘法算成加法，加法算成乘法。还有语文书上标自然段，要么少标一个段落，要么顺序标错了，所以老是做无用功。让我最头疼的事，那就是考试，因为马虎，连简单的题目都做错了，所以考试的成绩就是提高不上。现在我决心要改掉这个坏习惯。

第一次做家务

he summer vacation began. I decided to work to make money for the next

term. But I didnt know what work I could do.

At that time, my mother was writing a book. I decided to type for her for

pay. She agreed and paid me 5 yuan for 1000 words.

I began to work. I typed so slowly that I could type only several hundred

words a day. It was a hard job for me. I kept typing all day long.

I finished the work two weeks later. I came to know how hard it was to make

money.

As is known to us all, teachers play an important role in our process of

growing up. As far as I am concerned, an ideal teacher should be responsible,

impartial and wise.

First of all, a qualified teacher should be responsible. For one thing, he

should try his best to make his class interesting and try to understand what his

students need. For another, he needs to keep enthusiastic with his job of spread

knowledge all the time and act as an example for others everywhere he goes

to.

Second, be impartial is another requirement. As a teacher, he should not

divide students into good ones and bad ones since each student has unique

characteristic and value. Therefore, no matter what kind of students he

encounters, he should treat them impartially, without any bias.

Finally, my ideal teacher is one who does not only teach students his

specialized knowledge but also can give students some guidance about life and

about how to act as human beings. This guidance has a great effect on students’

outlook on life and sense of worth.

To sum up, an ideal teacher should not only pay attention to the

achievements his students get, but also put emphasis on developing students’

correct views on life and sense of worth.

Music is part of our life, nearly everybody will listen to the music, no

matter what nation they are from. Music is divided into many types, such as the

blues, the country music, the rock and roll. Once blues belonged to the black

people, but as time went by, music is accepted by all classes. People always

share the hottest songs together, just like they can communicate. Once in the

foreign country, I had dinner in a restaurant, where there had the singers.

People enjoyed the music when they were eating. At this moment, it was music

that brought people together, and they share the same emotion.

首先我们来到迎阳门前，迎阳门的城墙是大青砖建的，足足有一个房间那么厚的墙，很结实。拱形的门框是有五块花岗岩石建造的，门的上方有一个炮孔，炮孔两旁有很多十字形的枪孔，炮孔上方还有一个五角星，屋顶是黑色瓦片盖的。

往迎阳门里面走是一条宽阔的石阶路，沿着石阶往前走，上面长着许多绿色的小葫芦，像一个个绿色小灯泡，走着走着，我就闻到了兰花的幽香，我快速往前走去，原来小路旁摆着许多兰花。走在石街路上就能感受到古韵。

走过一段路就到了城隍庙，城隍庙青砖黑瓦红檐，庙里有三个雕像，中间的是城隍爷，两边的是城隍爷的助手。城隍爷每年5月28日出巡全程，察民间疾苦、善恶忠奸，惩恶扬善，保佑人民百姓平安健康，五谷丰登。现在每年5月28日都有这个活动。

城隍庙的隔壁是关帝庙，关帝庙里面纪念着关羽。离开关帝庙我们往前走，到了文昌井，那口井是古城六口井中的其中一口，位于文昌山右侧，因此取名为文昌井。文昌井有400年的历史，井沿是由四块花岗岩拼成的，又名四季平安井。

接下来我们参观了南门丰阜门和西门平成门。这两个门和迎阳门一模一样。平成门上有一个信箱，信箱像一个小怪物，那个怪物由两个耳朵，头上有一个角，它睁大眼睛张大了嘴巴。由于历史的原因，北边的炮楼没有保存下来。

客家人喜欢莲花，在古城中央，有四口很大的莲塘，连塘里的荷花很漂亮，就像一位位亭亭玉立的姑娘一样，花瓣就像它的腮红，粉红粉红的，荷叶肩并着肩挨挨挤挤的，像一个碧绿碧绿的大圆盘，如果很早去的话，舞就像婚纱一样，披在荷花身上，把荷花打扮得像一个新娘，“荷花站在莲塘中，就像一位新娘，在等待心爱的人来接她”。

从平成门出来，我们就要回家了，边走我边望着莲塘古城，它令我流连忘返，它是赣州的瑰宝。

Dear Ms. Reinhart,

I am terribly sorry that I failed to arrive at BLCU last Friday. I hope that this did not mess you up completely, although I know that you had already made some special arrangements for my visit with you parents and friends. I am very sorry about all that. I am sure you will be sympathetic, however, when I tell you that my father is dangerously ill in hospital, and that I found it impossible to leave for the visit when he is in this state.

My father was working very hard on his project on protecting the environment. I know the project has come to a very important stage. He and his assistants did not take regular rest for three weeks. Last night, my father had a heart attack and was soon sent to the hospital. The doctor said my father was in a very serious situation, and, he might need an operation.

24 hours have passed. Nothing has changed. I have to stay at the hospital. I will let you know if there is any good news.

I am sorry again and look forward to seeing you soon.

I went to Beijing on vacation with my parents last month and we stayed there for a week.

To my surprise, Beijing is such a modern city that my parents and I all admire the development of it these years. We visited many wonderful places there, such as the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and the Great Wall. What impressed me most was that people there were all very friendly and some of them could even speak Enlish. But still I think that there are some problems of this city, which I dislike. Those are too many people there and the heavy traffic. If there were fewer people and less traffic, it would be better.
