Getting Ourselves Worked Up

Our capacity to cope successfully with lifes challenges far outstrips our capacity to feel nervousness. Yet in the weeks, days, and hours leading up to an event that we believe will test our limits, we can become nervous. While we may have previously regarded ourselves as equal to the trials that lie ahead, we reach a point at which they near and our anxiety begins to mount. We then become increasingly worked up, until the moment of truth arrives and we discover that our worry was all for nothing. We are almost always stronger and more capable than we believe ourselves to be. But anxiety is not rational in nature, which means that in most cases we cannot work through it using logic as our only tool. Reason can help us recognize the relative futility of unwarranted worry but, more often than not, we will find more comfort in patterns of thought and activity that redirect our attention to practical or engaging matters.

Most of us find it remarkably difficult to focus on two distinct thoughts or emotions at once, and we can use this natural human limitation to our advantage when trying to stay centered in the period leading up to a potentially tricky experience. When we concentrate on something unrelated to our worryuch as deep breathing, visualizations of success, pleasurable pursuits, or exercisenxiety dissipates naturally. Meditation is also a useful coping mechanism as it provides us with a means to ground ourselves in the moment. I was a happy person,I have had more happy,more powerful,more yesterday momery gives me to see the future.Yesterday I don’t like talk more,I don’t like see more people,don’t warm,more time,I like staying my home,painting almost time.Painting gives me full life,but also gives me like lonely,peace.

I like now’s me,talkative,easy going guy.I hope that I will do myself,to be more easy going,gives every my friend’s happy.

My favourite writer—Lu Xun 我最喜欢的作者－鲁迅

Lu Xun is my favourite writer. He is one of the most famous writers in China. He wrote a lot of literary works.

He was thin and not tall. He always wore a long old coat in that time. At first, he wanted to be a doctor and save people s lives. So he learned medicine, but later he found the Chinese were in sensitive when they faced the oppression of their enemies. So he began to write articles to wake the people up.

Lu Xun wrote some famous novels, he attacked the social mores in that time, and in his works, many persons were known very well, such as Ah Q Kong Yi ji .

I like Lu Xun because I also want to be a great writer like him. I like reading and writing, and I often write some articles in my free time. Though I don t have good literary talent or a large vocabulary, I spend lots of time reading and writing to improve my writing skills.

Lu Xun is my hero, I will learn more from him. I believe I can be a great writer like him in the future.

他很瘦，个子不高。他总是穿着旧衣服。首先，他想成为一名医生，挽救人们的生命。所以他学医，但后来他发现中国人愚昧时，他们所面对的敌人在压迫着他们时。他开始写文章来唤醒人民。

鲁迅写了一些著名的长篇小说，他抨击当时的社会习俗，在他的作品中，许多人熟知，如阿Q孔乙己。

我喜欢鲁迅，因为我也想成为一个像他这样伟大的作家。我喜欢阅读和写作，我常常在我的空闲时间里写一些文章。虽然我没有好的文学天才或大量的词汇，所以我花时间阅读和写作，来提高我的写作技能很多。

鲁迅是我的英雄，我会从他身上学到更多。我相信我能成为一个伟大的作家，未来就像他一样。

Dear Tom，

How is it going these days? I keep wondering how you feel about your school

life in Beijing. Have you got used to the life in China? Are you enjoying your

life? I hope you are.

Let me tell you a piece of good news: I’m going to take part in an English

speech contest of middle school students in July in the coming summer vacation.

So I’m busy preparing for it. But now I have some difficulty in collecting

useful information and using proper English word to express my thoughts.

Besides, I really want to improve my spoken English, especially the

pronunciation and intonation(语调). Of course, as a native English speaker, you

can give me some suggestions.

In addition, I’m going to visit you after the contest. I’m sure we will

have a wonderful time together in Beijing! I can hardly wait to see you! I am
