Outside of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, Chinese New Year  also celebrated in countries with significant Han Chinese populations, such as Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. In countries such as Australia, Canada and the United States, although Chinese New Year  not an official holiday, many ethnic Chinese hold large celebrations and Australia Post, Canada Post, and the US Postal Service sues New Years themed stamps.

Within China, regional customs and traditions concerning the celebration of the Chinese new year vary widely. People will pour out their money to buy presents, decoration, material, food, and clothing. It  also the tradition that every family thoroughly cleans the house to sweep away any ill-fortune in hopes to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red colour paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of “happiness”, “wealth”, and “longevity”. On the Eve of Chinese New Year, supper  a feast with families. Food will include such items as pigs, ducks, chicken and sweet delicacies. The family will end the night with firecrackers. Early the next morning, children will greet their parents by whing them a healthy and happy new year, and receive money in red paper envelopes. The Chinese New Year tradition  a great way to reconcile forgetting all grudges, and sincerely wh peace and happiness for everyone.

Although the Chinese calendar traditionally does not use continuously numbered years, outside China its years are often numbered from the reign of Huangdi. But at least three different years numbered 1 are now used by various scholars, making the year 2009 "Chinese Year" 4707, 4706, or 4646.

星期五，我刚放学回家，正准备做作业，突然原本艳阳高照的天空一下子变得阴沉沉的。

房间里也瞬间变得黑暗了，我刚想打开台灯，突然，一道闪电很快地从窗外划过。漆黑的天空瞬间被照得一片惨白，不一会儿雷公也“轰隆隆”地发出了可怕的声音，给人们一种威风八面的样子。

He hurried up to the king and said:"Your Majesty, they dont think about the interests of the country at all.It is just because they are cowardly and afraid of death that they ask you to sue for peace by betraying the country. Of course you can temperarily satisfy the ambition of the king of the State of Qin is insatiably greedy. It will never stop assaulting us until our land is totally given away."Once there was a man whose house was on fire. People told him to put out the fire with water, but he would not listen. Instead, he carried a faggot to put out the fire, only to make the fire fiercer. That was because he didnt know that,instead of putting out the fire, faggots could only make it burning more vigorously. Isnt it equivalent to carrying faggots to put out a fire if you agree to sue for peace at the cost of the land of the State of Wei?"Though Su Dais argument was very convincing, the king accepted the suggestion of those officials and gave away to the State of Qin a large area of the land of the State of Wei. For the king of the State of Wei was cowardly and only cared for peace at the moment.As might be expected,the Qin army assaulted the State of Wei on a large scale in 225 B.C.,surrounding the capital city Daliang and flooding it by digging open the dykes of the Huanghe River.The State of Wei was finally destroyed by the State of Qin.This story appears in the Historical Records Written by Sima Qian.The set phrase"carrying faggots to put out a fire"is used to mean adopting a wrong method to save a situation and ending up by making it worse.

说到这里，苏代讲了一个故事：从前有一个人，他的房子起火了，别人劝他快用水去浇灭大火，但他不听，偏抱起一捆柴草去救火，是因为他不懂得柴草不但不能灭火反而能助长火势的道理。大王若同意拿着魏国土地去求和，不就等于抱着柴草救火吗？”

尽管苏代讲得头头是道，但是胆小的魏王只顾眼前的太平，还是依大臣们的意见把魏国大片土地割让给秦国。到公元225年，果然秦军又向魏国大举进攻，包围了国都大梁，掘开黄河大堤让洪水淹没了大梁城，魏国终于被秦国灭掉了。

故事出自《史记魏世家》。成语“抱薪救火”比喻用错误的方法去消灭祸害，结果反而使祸害扩大。

I felt so excited, because I always wanted to travel abroad. So I was so eager

to talk to my friend. She showed me the sceneries. I found different sceneries

昨天上午的天气很好，可是到傍晚，天气就不怎么好了，风吹得树摇摇欲坠，好像要下雨似的，但是也没有雨滴滴下来。

（三）撑着伞行走在水滩里，一阵阵冰凉刺骨的感觉不禁让人打了个寒颤，却能把一切暑气排走。路上人们有说有笑的，有的人踢着水，喜悦挂在了脸上，有的情侣撑着伞在雨中漫步着，那一种甜蜜在他们的身边洋溢着。则有的人急促的步伐溅起了层层水花，那水花似乎也倒映着雨中的画卷，每一幅都和谐动人。

Mr. Louis is my Chinese teacher. She was of medium height, slender, with two eyebrows on her lanky face, a pair of squinting eyes, and a pair of pink glasses on her high nose, about thirty years old. 好了，我把妈妈叫过来，让妈妈把脚放进散着香味的盆子里，我亲自给妈妈洗脚，我的手将妈妈整天的疲劳洗掉、我摸着妈妈脚下的泡，心里非常难受，妈妈疼爱的摸着我的头，她很高兴的说“我的女儿现在长大了懂事了!”看着妈妈的笑脸我也非常的开心!

今天的母亲节我和妈妈都很开心!也很让我难忘!

今天下午，乌云染黑了湛蓝天空，忽然，哗啦啦，哗啦啦，小雨滴们从天上飞到地面上。

叮当当，叮当当放学了，同学们飞快地跑到楼下，啊！天气好闷呀，我们站在那等着自己爸爸妈妈，我回到家，看着那梧桐树，风一吹，梧桐树在风中舞蹈，在雨中歌唱，可爱小雨滴满天飞舞，像被抛洒出去珍珠。轰隆隆，雷声一响，闪电一亮我就被吓跑走了。我回到了自己房间，看着那梧桐树上小雨滴一点一点流下来，花园里小花，小草都在雨中舞稻，它们跳可美了。

雨停了，出现了彩虹，就像七位美丽仙女，在湛蓝天空中自由飞翔。

夜晚，彩虹慢慢地消失了，又下起了蒙蒙细雨，我们连忙跑回楼房，说说话，雨下越来越大，好像大地都被震动起来。

“滴滴答答……”又下雨了，没办法出去玩，叫我有点儿丧气。这些天降神兵，害得到处湿答答，哪儿也不能去。看着毛毛细雨，看着、看着，我就不知不觉睡着了。

在甜美的梦乡里，我是一只小蚂蚁，在草地里寻寻觅觅，突然，滴答！滴答！……的下起了雨，但对我这只小蚂蚁来说，宛如一枚飞行物的“空袭”，我急忙跑到像是大伞的小树苗下。还好马上就雨过天青，我跑出大伞，到一棵大树下，开始建筑我甜蜜的新家。新家在我夜以继日的打造下，虽然我忙得灰头土脸，但眼看新家就要完成，我欣喜若狂。果然，两天后就完成了！但好景不常，天空又下起了滂沱大雨，这一切马上化为泡影，我跪在地上伤心欲绝、哭天抢地。突然，天空露出一道曙光，使得无力的我又充满了希望。我走来走去，走到了大马路上，天空原本晴空万里，怎么顷刻间又变得乌云密布，不到一分钟，马上又下起了倾盆大雨。不一会儿，从地平线那来了一阵大洪水，眼看就要被冲走，我伸出七手八脚想要走抓树枝，还好老天有眼，可怜我这个“无”善不作的小蚂蚁，洪水很快就过了。

我狼狈不堪的爬上岸边，在路上走啊走，走回了家。桌上的饼干真令人垂涎三尺，我马上爬上了桌子，吃了一口饼干，哇！真是让人觉得此生无憾了！啊！我真不应该“乌鸦嘴”，突然一只大手有如如来佛的手以漫天盖地之势压了孙悟空一样。我大叫：“不要啊！”我惊醒了！赫然发现那只是一场荒唐的梦，这个梦让我用小蚂蚁的眼光看世界，也发现了那些天然灾害是令动物们烦恼的根源。天灾何时会发生是无法事前控制的，但我们只要在天灾来临前做好准备，不就可以万无一失了吗？

今天，我看了看天气预报，显示明天要下雨。

第二天一早，我便带上雨衣去上学。中午放学了，我看见一朵朵乌云飘了过来，燕子在低处飞来飞去，突然一道闪电霹了过来，接着轰隆一声，我知道这便是要下雨了。

过了一会儿，便下起了倾盆大雨，我穿上雨衣往回走，看着别的同学狼狈的在雨里奔跑。风呼呼地刮着，树都被吹弯了腰，街道上有许许多多的水坑，汽车飞驰过去，溅起了水花，在雨水的冲刷下，草更绿了，花更鲜艳了，有些行人把衣服披在头上匆匆忙忙的往回走。

不一会，雨停了。雨后，天空蓝蓝的，空气十分新鲜，深呼吸一口，鼻尖全是甜丝丝的味道，空中出现了一道彩虹，草地上的露珠亮晶晶的，

水滩倒映着行人的身影，都可以当镜子了。

这是目前最大的雨，我想着：以后会不会还下比这更大的雨呢?
