stress.

We can wear calm colours like blue and white to make us feel relaxed. We

My mother was once a beautiful woman, but all her teeth are gone now. Toothless. No woman can be considered beautiful. Whenever I visit her in the nursing home, she is sitting at the table in the common dining room, her head in her hands, rocking. Medication has eased her anxiety, but nothing moves her from her stupor except occasional moments of fear, too deep for medication. This is a room that has no windows, that lets in no light, in which an overlarge TV is constantly blaring, sending images that no one looks at where the floors are beige tiles, the walls cream colored at the bottom, papered halfway up with a pattern of nearly invisible grayish leaves. Many of the residents sit staring, slack-jawed, open mouthed. I find it impossible to imagine what they might be looking at.

When I walk into the dining room on the day of my mothers birthday, I see that she has already been served lunch. The staff has forgotten to hold it back. Though I told them a week ago that I would be providing lunch. She hasn’t touched anything on her tray except a piece of carrot cake, which she holds in her hands. The icing is smeared on her hands and face. I dont want my friends to see her smeared with icing, so I wet a paper towel and wipe her. This fills me with a terrible tenderness, recalling, as it does. a gesture I have performed for my children. As I wipe my mothers face, I see that her skin is still beautiful I hold her chin in my hand and kiss her forehead. I tell her its her birthday, that shes ninety years old. "How did that happen?" she asks. "I cant understand how that could happen."

l have brought her a bouquet of crimson, yellow, and salmon-pink snapdragons. She likes the flowers very much. She likes the name. "Snapdragons. It seems like an animal thats going to bite inc. But its not an animal, its a plant. Thats a funny thing,"

I have bought food that I hope will please my mother, and that will be easy for her to eat: orzo salad with little pieces of crayfish cut into it, potato salad, small chunks of marinated tomatoes. I have bought paper plates with a rust-colored background, upon which are painted yellow and gold flowers and blue leaves.

My friends Nola and Gary come for my mothers birthday. When we are about to leave, I tell my mother that Im going on vacation, mat I wont see her for three weeks, that 1 am going to the sea. "How will I stand that, how will I stand thats she says, but I know that a minute after I’m gone shell forget I was there.

生活不是一帆风顺的，彩虹总是随风雨而来。面对挫折，我总是毫不犹豫地选择勇气。我相信只有选择勇气才能选择成功。

我记得有一次，我静静地坐在考场里，毫无头绪地写着试卷。当别人如此有条不紊地写作时，我怎么能独自战斗呢？我有点无聊和无助。每次我写一个问题，我总是停止写作。雨，轻轻地落下，我的心已经变得浮躁。这甜美的声音听起来如此无情:还有15分钟交论文。我更加紧张地移动我的笔。两天后，测试结果出来了。我出乎意料地穷。晚上，静静地，我蜷缩在被子里，心里七上八下的不舒服。为什么？为什么准备这么多天没有用？面对失败，我显得如此虚弱，仿佛一阵风就能把我吹走。这时，我选择了勇气。什么是失败？这是否意味着我的一生都是失败的？

我还记得有一次我要和同学们一起参加合唱比赛。在观众中，我们画淡妆。我们每个人心里都充满了紧张。毕竟，这是第一次参加这么大的比赛。我们的紧张情绪传遍了整个团队。一些学生只是在等待化妆，一些在深呼吸，一些在练习唱歌。这时，我的心里也涌起了未知的紧张。不，我不紧张。我在心里默默地思考。勇气支撑我走向舞台。面对如此多的评委，我感到双腿无力，头晕目眩。来吧。我反复对自己说。你害怕什么？这不是断头台！随着钢琴的声音，我们轻轻地唱了起来:风很温和，云也因勇气而变得微弱。此时此刻，我们一直支持我，我也一直支持我下台。我轻轻吁了口气。这时，我很高兴我选择了勇气，否则当时的情景，我简直无法想象。

勇气的选择让我选择了黑暗中的光明和森林深处的方向。我不向生活低头，是勇气激励我与困难抗争。无论何时何地，我都不会屈服于命运，我会选择勇气。

夜晚，月亮静静地擦着她的脸，发出柔和的光。星星像大石块一样散落在紫蓝色的天空中，发出微弱的荧光。风很柔和，轻轻吹着粉红色的铃铛。桌子上的水晶球在灯光下看起来很刺眼。我悄悄地在我最喜欢的笔记本上写了一段话:生活是一个大问号，我不知道将来会遇到什么挫折和困难。然而，我不会放弃，我会用勇气去克服它，让我的生活画出一条辉煌的弧线。我永远不会放弃。我会坚持我的勇气。

有一首歌，经过历史的沧桑被人们传唱，它是人们生活的主旋律_和谐。

和谐在生活中无处不在，它流荡在生活的每一个角落。

一天下午，我去麦当劳买晚餐。出门时，我一手拿着装食品的纸袋，一手拿着饮料，正发愁怎么开门。这时，发现由于店里人太多，餐厅的门正在不停地被人们打开，关上，几乎一直没有闲下来，我灵机一动：我可以趁别人出门时，在门还没关上时“钻”出去。于是我快走几步，跟在一个年轻人的身后。可是他出了门后，竟停下来扶着门等我过去。我愣了一下，平时，连那些很有文化的白领，几乎都没有为别人扶门的，今天竟是这样一个穿着随意的年轻人在为人扶门。我一时忘了说谢谢，只能报以他一个感激的微笑，而他看到后也立刻回以我一个真诚而温暖的微笑。出门后，我不由自主地回头望了望，看见他刚要把门关上，见里面正走出一个人，便又把门扶了起来。那是位穿着时髦的小姐可她连看都没看那个扶门的年轻人一眼，“昂首挺胸”，“理直气壮”地就走过去了。我有些生气，可看看那个年轻人的表情，依然平静如水。紧接着又走过来两个学生，其中一个见到年轻人在扶门，立刻说了声“谢谢”，另一个见后也跟着说了一声。这时，年轻人见暂时没有人走出来了，才关上了门。

路上，望着夕阳下那些翩旋飞舞的落叶，我的心情也和他们一样上下翻转，难以平静。平时常听到新闻里说“构建和谐社会”之类的话，却从未想过它们真正的意义，现在我才发现，这正是需要我们每一个人去努的阿。和谐就在我们身边，和谐与我们的生活息息相关。这个年轻人为他人着想，以一个不起眼的举动，默默地方便了身边的人，这就是和谐啊。而那些对年轻人视而不见的人的行为便是一个不和谐的音符。社会是一个大家庭，我们每个人都是这个家庭的一分子，需要我们每个人都时刻努力，才能让大家庭里萦绕和谐之音。其实想想我自己，我能算是一个“和谐的音符”吗？就拿为他人扶门这件事来说，我是不是每次都做到了呢？我作不出肯定的回答。顿时，我有些愧疚不安。于是我决心：从自己努力，并以此来带动周围的人。一个人的力量或许微不足道，但若是传递下去，影像就会很大。

从那以后，每次我要关门时都会看看后面有没有人要出去。若是有，我一定要停下来为他扶门。不管那人的反应是感激还是视而不见，我都会很满足，因为我是在为和谐贡献自己的一份力量；排队时，我不会加塞，也不为别人代买，不管他的回答是“你这么做也对”，还是“你真不够朋友”，我都会微笑面对，因为我这是在为和谐而努力……

和谐在绿叶身上，他们从不和花儿争妍斗艳，都默默衬托着花，才能构成一幅美丽的画面：和谐在乐曲中的音符上，没有谁会跳出来显显风头，都恪守本分地扮演着自己的角色，才能演奏出华美德乐曲。和谐也应该在我们身上，我们应该为社会努力，让社会处处开满和谐之花。

During these two years, we have seen many movies about the youth, the

directors try to remind people of their passed early days. Indeed, when people

see the movie, they feel the situation is so familiar that they could not help

thinking about their days in the school. As for me, when I see the movie, I will

think about my high school days, it was so unforgettable for me, my friends and

I studied so hard together, our strong friendship was built at that time, the

stupid things we did always makes me laugh. Everyone will have an unforgettable

memory in their early life, the memory fulfills their life.

故乡没山，只能在天晴的时候，隐约地看到太行山的轮廓，年少的我对山里无限向往；故乡也没有水，唯一一条流经村外的小河还叫干河，童年时关于水的记忆大多来自田地里用来灌溉的机井和沟渠。但是记忆里的故乡依然美丽可爱。春天，返青的麦苗整齐得仿佛被城里的园丁修剪过，我和它们分享着成长的快乐；夏天，金色的麦穗簇拥着汗流浃背的男女老少，村里村外随处可见收获带来的忙碌和喜悦；秋天，一米多高的玉米地象是连绵的小树林让人对丰收、对自然多了一些敬畏；冬天呢？那弥漫在田间地头的雾霭与房前屋后光秃秃的老树在落日的余晖中默默交流……记忆中故乡的男人们那么容易满足，为女人一天三顿做的好吃的手擀面；女人们那么容易开心，为新添的一件又便宜又好看的花衬衫。他们尽情享受着冬天的太阳、夏天的阴凉。我仍记得每一种庄稼从播种到收获的所有环节，记得在田间劳作时父母给我讲过的为人之道。我还记得村办小学的校长如何受到全村人的尊重，我们的课余生活是那么开心、那么丰富！

故乡是我童年生活的天堂，长大后再回去看，却发现与记忆相差很远。家门口那条长街怎么变得那么短？那高大明亮的堂屋为什么变得低矮又阴暗？旁边就读过的小学校怎么不是当年的校园？曾经是村长的二叔怎么病得连我都认不出来？爱到我家窜门爱讲笑话的隔壁二奶呢？当年我那么崇拜的语文老师怎么会离开学校到城里去卖菜？还有跟我一起长大的堂妹，怎么一点也不象当年亲密无间？

年少时，我以为离家越远我就会活得越自在，现在却每天都想用家乡话跟母亲聊天，每个春节都盼着回老家过年。回家之前，我有很多打算，真的回去了，才知道现实有太多无奈。父母老了，我想好好孝敬他们几天，却做不好一顿家乡饭；姑姑命苦，想给她些零花钱，却被她原封不动地塞进了儿子的口袋；奶奶年纪大了，想给她买最爱吃的牛肉，却发现她的牙齿已脱光；堂弟借钱，我却囊中羞涩；想跟童年的伙伴见个面，却得知她们已远嫁异乡；想让儿子多吃点家乡的玉米粥和手擀面，可他说那味道太讨厌！连我自己也不习惯那天气的干旱、交通的不便……

我不得不承认，故乡只属于童年、属于梦幻，属于十多年前，永远不可能再还原。既如此，我只有祝福，祝福故乡和仍然生活在那里的乡亲和家人。
