The Origin of Halloween

While there are many versions of the origins and old customs of Halloween, some remain consistent by all accounts. Different cultures view Holloween somewhat differently but traditional Halloween practices remain the same.

Halloween culture can be traced back to the Druids, a Celtic culture in Ireland, Britain and Northern Europe. Roots lay in the feast of Samhain, which was annually on October 31st to honor the dead.

Samhain signifies "summers end" or November. Samhain was a harvest festival with huge sacred bonfires, marking the end of the Celtic year and beginning of a new one. Many of the practices involved in this celebration were fed on superstition.

The Celts believed the souls of the dead roamed the streets and villages at night. Since not all spirits were thought to be friendly, gifts and treats were left out to pacify the evil and ensure next years crops would be plentiful. This custom evolved into trick-or-treating.

这个暑假最让人难忘的是去旅游。我过得开心，玩得愉快，感觉刺激。

随后，我们又玩了海盗船，船刚开启，我的心随着船的升高也越升越高。真是又惊险又疯狂。接下来，我登上高台，进入了滑道，由于我滑的速度比别人慢，后面的把我撞了一下，我一下子就滚到水中，差点把我的屁股摔成三半，真是的……

我的暑假学习安排是这样的：

一每天坚持听一个小时的英语。由于某些因素，让我们在英语水平上与经济发达地区的孩子们有一定的差距，但我相信只要我肯努力，也能追上他们，并比他们做的更好。

二坚持背诵语文古诗词和英语单词。在高考中语文默写占得分值虽不是很大，但俗话说一分也能压倒众多人。就像在这次考试中，我就因没好好背古诗词，连屈原《离骚》中的千古名句长太息以掩涕兮，哀民生之多艰。都不会写，让我白白丢了许多分。并且在写作文时，可以引用许多古诗词。如在写面对困难时的态度，可以引用李白的长风破浪会有时，直挂云帆济沧海。等等。背英语单词更为重要，阅读时连单词的意思都不知道，那你该如何答题;写作时连单词都不会拼写，那你该如何的高分

三多做理综题。只会一味的死记硬背公式是不会在理综上拿到高分的。理综注重的是灵活运用，只有多做题，题型见多了，遇到相似的题就知道该如何下笔。像我在那抓破脑袋想这题应用什么公式，好不容易公式想出了却不知道该如何解题，时间浪费了分也丢了。

四整理笔记，回顾以前所学的知识。学过的知识只有不断回顾才能让它记忆深刻。像我总是把以前所学的知识全都堆积到考试前几天来复习，这种做法不仅没有效果还让我越复习越紧张。把笔记整理几遍可以发现哪些知识是重点，哪些知识自己还没吃透等等。

五利用网络多和别人交流。网络是个很好的交流平台，我们可以在网上与他人互相交流学习经验，了解大学的招生信息等等。

所谓天才人物指的就是具有毅力的人，勤奋的人，入迷的人和忘我的人。我会充分利用好这个暑假，以最好的状态去面对新学期的到来。

暑假到了，同学们纷纷回家休息了，也开始了一段愉快的暑期生活。我来给大家介绍一下我的暑假吧。

暑假的上半部分，也就是七月份，我在少年宫上托管班。虽然是在上课，但是也很有趣。上的全是兴趣课，比如武术、模型、电脑、硬笔书法及故事课等。

在上课的同时，我还惦记着一件事，这件事早在暑假之前就讲好了，那就是爸爸妈妈答应我要带我去新疆旅游。

7月31日我们终于踏上了原本该在7月30日就出发的列车。是什么原因造成这种情况的呢，原来是陇海线塌方了，列车过不来，导致火车整整晚点了13个多小时。

经过了接近三天的时间，我们来到了炎热的吐鲁番。那里，有一个著名的旅游景点，那就是火焰山。快到火焰山了，可是，真是太热了，我终于知道为什么火焰山要叫火焰山了，因为火焰山那里的天气实在是太热了，真的像有一团火把整个山都燃烧起来了，才叫火焰山的吧。反正我觉得应该是这样的。火焰山光秃秃的，连棵树都没有，如果有很多树的话，那就不会那么热了。（告诉你个奇怪的现象，那虽然那热，可是只要你走到树荫下，立刻就会觉得凉快很多的。）

接下来，我们来到了塔什库尔干县的红旗拉甫边防哨所。那里非常寒冷，尤其是刚从炎热的火焰山走来，就更觉得冷得受不了了。听说，如果山下下雨，那么山上就会下雪呢！你知道下雪的时候是什么季节吗？哈哈！猜错了吧，告诉你，是夏天。哨所最醒目的是一块界碑。一边写着中国，另一边则是巴基斯坦了，界碑的两边分别有中国和巴基斯坦的士兵在守护着自己的国土。

从塔县出来，我们踏上了前往乌鲁木齐的火车。火车一路唱着歌儿，突然我发现道路两旁，上百台风力发电机擎天而立，迎风飞旋，与蓝天、白云相衬，在一望无际的旷野上，形成了一个十分壮观的风车大世界。这里就是亚洲最大的风能基地——新疆达坂城风力发电厂。

乌鲁木齐给我印象最深刻的要数南山牧场了。在美丽的南山牧场，我第一次骑了马。一路上激动的脸红红的，连一只小蜜蜂都飞到了我的脸上，它可能把我的脸当成了一朵红艳艳的小花了。

最后要说说我最爱的美食了。让我难忘的是那甜美的西瓜。那里最大的西瓜有南京大西瓜的两倍那么大，而且比南京的西瓜甜多了。但是它也有一个竞争对手，那就是马奶葡萄。吃完了马奶葡萄再吃甜西瓜，就好像白开水一样。

Mothers Day Mother’s Day is a holiday when children honor their mothers with

single flower on the table beside the food. The kids can pick up the flower from

newspaper to her bedroom so that mom can have breakfast in bed. Presents and

cards from the kids can be handed to mom by themselves or just placed on the

dining table.

After breakfast, go anywhere mom likes to go. Shopping, swimming or going on

a picnic in the garden. Make a special Mother’s Day dinner or take mom out for a

great meal in a famous restaurant she loves most.

首先还是把暑假作业做好，每次放假都会有暑假作业，一本也不怎么厚册子，如果想一下假期的时间的话，这点作业确实不多，每天写一页时间都还有余，暑假是很长的，所以各位老师布置了一些额外的作业，语文就是布置了作文，跟日记，我计划着每天一篇日记，跟一篇作文，分在早上跟晚上完成，这样就该不会都挤在一起，出现时间冲突，语文这一科我比较弱，首先假期我一定会好好的把语文作业做好，多学习学习，我觉得我的语文主要还是作文不行，作文一直都是我的弱项，所以在假期我一定要好好的培养自己的写作能力，还是从写文章下手，多多去看一下文学作品，在看的过程中好好地学习，学习作者的写作手法，但是初期的话，我还是不会去看文学作品，一开始还是去看看作文书，多看些作文，不然的话直接看一些文学作品可能会出现看不懂的情况。

第二就是我数学的学习了，这学期数学老师没有布置作业，就死让我们做试卷，刷题，我计划在暑假，每隔一周写一张试卷，因为数学作业确实不多，一周一张试卷在假期结束的之前还是能够完成任务的，每周一做一张试卷在做完试卷后去找答案，对一下答案是否正确，在错误的题目上我认真的去研究，做试卷最重要的就是错误的题目了，做错题目一定要自己好好的去了解，去分析题目，知道把题目完全搞懂，一周一张试卷，其实要花很多的时间去解决错误的题目。

第三就是英语了，英语是很重要的，英语也是我的弱项，在校期间我的英语就一直不好，在暑假期间我会认真的学习英语，每天早上早点起床，越早越好，早上的记忆力是黄金时段，利用这个时间记一下单词，每天给自己制定一个记单词的数量，每天二十个单词，早上自己主动记单词，晚上然后自己默写一遍，在睡觉之前默写，默写错误的单词一定要多写几遍，别看只有二十个单词，但是一个暑假下来积少成多了。

Clothes are so significant in our daily life that we cant live without

them, because they are useful in many ways. For example, clothes could keep us

warm in winter and protect our skin from the heavy sunshine in summer. Whats

more, Clothes make a man just as a saddle makes a horse. Everyday we wear

different kinds of clothes to make ourselves more attractive. Suppose if we wore

the same clothes all the time, our life would be so boring.

As far as Im concerned, I know some kinds of clothes, such as formal

clothes, casual clothes, evening wears and uniforms. In different situations, we

wear different clothes. For example, we wear formal clothes to go to meetings;

we wear casual clothes at home; we wear evening wears to attend evening parties,

and we wear uniforms at school or at work.

Nevertheless, I prefer casual clothes, because they are comfortable. And

they are also very cheap. When I wear casual clothes, I can do a lot of sports.

It’s so cool. By the way, red is my favorite color, since Ive got a white skin.

If Im in red, Ill look kind and friendly. So I always buy red clothes when

shopping.
