Shanxi is endowed with an abundance of cultural sites from its long history. Most of the ancient structures were built before the Liao and Song Dynasties. So it is the reason why Shanxi is often called the Chinese Ancient Architecture Museum. The more obvious of these include: the Buddhist wonder of the Yungang Grottoes in Datong City, the ancient city of Pingyao which was listed as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in 1997, the oldest and tallest ancient wooden pagoda in China, the Wooden Pagoda of Yingxian County and the remote Shuanglin and Jinci Temples, which are well worth the long journeys for the visitors.

Of course, there are a number of natural magnificent and beautiful places that can also be seen in Shanxi. The most famous of them include Wutai Mountain with the longest and most prestigious history in the four most well-known Buddhist holy lands of China, the whistling rage of the Yellow Rivers Kettle Spout waterfalls (Hukou Waterfalls) and one of the Five Sacred Mountains in China - Mt Hengshan.

My home town is a beautiful place. It stands beside a wide river and is

rich in fish and rice.

But in the old days it was a poor and backward little town. Many people had

no work. They lived a hard life.

In 1949 my hometown was liberated. Since then great changes have taken

place there. The streets have been widened. Factories, schools, hospitals,

cinemas and theatres have sprung up one after another. The life of the people is

greatly improved.

I love my hometown. All the more I love its people. They are working hard

so as to make it still richer and more beautiful.

我们的家乡抚顺，在辽宁诸多城市中是个风景如画，物产丰富，冬天最冷，夏天最热，春秋两季较短，四季分明的好地方。

春天来了，春天来了，天上的风筝多起来，户外的行人多起来。浑河岸边一派盎然生机。鹅黄色的草芽，争先恐后从土壤里你拱出来，我钻出来。不几天，在拂面春风的摇晃下，绿了河堤，绿了乡村，绿了大地。春天真的来了！

夏天里，各种树木迫不及待的展现自己的姿容。河堤北岸带状公园里的杨柳，形态各异。杨树笔挺挺地站在那里，全身披甲，像一个个威武的哨兵为游人站岗。树头的枝叶即像大块大块的翡翠，在骄阳的照耀下，发出一闪一闪的光。又像一把把深绿色的遮阳伞，为人们纳凉。而河边的柳树却不同了。柔柔软软垂下的枝条，长满了弯弯的细细的叶子，随着河面吹过来的湿露露的风摆来摆去。好像是在给游人表演轻盈欢快的迎宾舞，令人雀跃，令人陶醉。

秋实，收获的季节到了。乡下田野里，高粱涨红了脸，稻谷笑弯了腰。菜园里茄子穿紫袍，东瓜披白沙。果园里，梨儿挂满了枝头，山楂抢着晒太阳，苹果耐心地等待人们来采摘。秋天真是个金色的聚宝盆，收获了许许多多金灿灿的果实。

下雪了！下雪了！洁白洁白的雪花，像五角星，像身披白纱的仙女，从空中飘飘洒洒地落下来，分外绕娆。城里乡村一切都变白了。房子上积了厚厚的一层雪，房顶有平的，有尖的，还有圆的。大树穿上洁白的衣裳。街路上铺满了雪白松软的地毯，穿着各色服装的人们走在上面，就像给地毯绣上了美丽的花。

我们的家乡抚顺四季分明，真是一个宜人的好地方。

My hometown used to be a backwardplace, because it was deep in the mountains, where there were no nice buildingsand the roads were so narrow and dirty. People lived a poor life.

我的家乡过去是一个落后的地方，因为它在深山里面，那里没有漂亮的建筑物，公路也是又小又脏的。人们的生活都很贫苦。

While in recent years, with thedevelopment of society, my hometown has been greatly changed. Now the roads aregetting much wider. There are many different cars and buses running on theroads. Trees and flowers are planted on the two sides of the roads. They canprovide us with oxygen and fight against the pollutants. So the sky becomescleaner and brighter. Whats more, you can see many modern and beautifulbuildings everywhere, and the living conditions are improving. People areenjoying a comfortable life now.

近年来，随着社会的发展，我的家乡发生了很大的变化。现在的路是越来越大了。有许多不同的汽车和公交车在道路上运行。道路两边种满了树木和鲜花。他们可以为我们提供氧气，与污染物抗争。现在天空变得更清洁、更明亮。更重要的是，你随处可见到许多现代和美丽的建筑，人们的生活条件也得到了改善。现在人们在享受舒适的生活。
