The farmers do not want to kill any of their cattle, so the cattle eat ail the grass and anything that grows on poorer land. If this continues for several years, the grass never grows again and the land becomes a desert. One suggested answer is for farmers to limit the numbers of their cattle.

这天是6月5日————人类的世界环境日。在这一天里人们会召开环保大会，商量保护环境的措施。而与此同时，自然界的环保大会也在悄然进行着。

大家都早早地来到会场。突然，一股恶心的臭味传来，使大家都不由得捂住鼻子。

“什么东西呀?”

“这味儿真难闻。”

“是谁这么臭呀?”

“是我，我是水!”一个细小的声音回答。大家一看，啊，这是水吗?这是那清澈的水吗?出此刻大家眼前的是一滩黑黑的发着恶臭的东西。

象伯伯关心地问：“是谁把你弄成这副模样的?”

“是呀!”小鹿也说，“你怎样变成这样了?”

水听了大家关切的询问，忍不住流出了眼泪。“我本是清澈透明的，可那人类却从不爱护我，他们把工厂的废水往我体内排，把垃圾往我身上倒，甚至把有毒的物质也往我身上扔，把我污染得面目全非，结果造成人类严重缺水，而我也重病缠身，连小动物沾了我也会生病，我……”

水的哭诉还没讲完，只见一团乌黑的气体飘进了会场，没等大家发问，它却抢先开了口：“大伙儿都看见我此刻的样貌了吧?可又有谁能想到我以前是多么洁净的空气呀!”

大家听了都十分惊讶。

空气咳嗽了两声，又之后说：“洁净的空气难道不是生命的必需品吗?但人类却把工厂烟囱里的废气、毒气全部排放在我身上。幸好有树木帮人类和万物净化空气，不然的话，大家吸入被污染的空气都会得病的。

“可惜我们也无能为力了。”一个声音从角落里传出来。

原先是站在旁边的一棵小树在说话，“因为我的同伴越来越少了。我们树木家族对人类有巨大的贡献，我们透过光合作用，吸入二氧化碳，呼出新鲜的氧气，而且我们的树根还能抓住水土，防止水土流失呢!但是人类不但不明白感恩，反而还大肆砍伐我们，使我们家族成员越来越少了，害得小鸟们也无家可归了。”

“我们早已是无家可归者了。”一只东北虎站出来说，“由于森林越来越少，加上人类的猎杀，此刻我的家族成员屈指可数，全国野生东北虎只剩下不到20只了。”

最后，大家都沉默了。它们都在想：这天，人类污染环境、破坏大自然，使我们无家可归;明天，他们就会失去赖以生存的家园，同样也会无家可归!

同一片蓝天，同一片沃土。是啊，我们都是在一样的土地出生的。可这一切都是谁给我们的呢?有人会问：“是不是那些为国家战亡的英雄们?”“不，不是，他们只是为自己的国家保卫利益罢了，“是不是古老神话中的盘古，还是天帝，宙斯?”“不，不是，他们只不过是我们现代人所编的一些故事，人物罢了!”“那是谁给的?”“她就是我们所住在的星球——地球妈妈。”“地球?”“是啊，没有地球，还会有花草树木吗?没有地球，还会有地下埋藏的矿物资源吗?没有地球，还会有我们这些过着幸福生活的人类吗?”地球就是我们的家，就是我们的父母。可是我们人类是怎样做的呢?

汽车在马路上飞快的行驶着，排出有害的烟雾，也许没有吹到我们的脸上，可却深深地伤害了地球，排出的废气，污染了小草，污染了树木，小草奄奄一息地弯着头，树木脸上挂着晶莹的泪珠，默默地叹息着，这给龙卷风扎下了很好的基础，使一些地方严重破坏，还有些竟然从绿洲变为了沙漠。假设地球妈妈有5分生命，这样她就死去了一次。

在大海旁边建立的那些工厂，他们为做某件物品竟不惜一切代价，虽然他们不惜一切代价，可是排出的脏油，乌气严重地污染了美丽的大海。大海里的鱼痛不欲生，每天只能呼吸被污染的海水，有些地方大量放油水，鱼改变了自然的生存环境，那些鱼竟然都有十多斤左右，还有些地方因为受污染，所有鱼都亡命于海。这样说来，地球妈妈又死去了一条生命。

人类为了更好地生活，开采天然资源，这没错，因为不管是谁都想活下来，可是有些人利欲熏心，不加节制地开采不可再生的矿物资源和可再生的矿物资源，问他们为什么，他们还理直气壮：“肯定的，如果不开采的话就会被别人抢去，还不如自己拿走呢!可再生的矿物资源又没什么关系!反正会自己再生!”是吗，真的像他们所说的一样吗?这个事情就无法改变吗?不，如果每个人都不抱着这种自己拿走的心理，不可再生的资源会这样吗?再生资源你们认为很好再生吗，也许是几百年，也许是几千年，可加上我们这样开采，哪还可能再生呢?地球妈妈又减少了一条生命。

为了赚钱，人类更是不加节制地砍伐树木，就连刚刚发芽的小树也砍，这还有人性吗?钱就真的那么重要吗?不，树木重要，他们是我们人类的天然屏障，是大地的保护伞，可我们这么做的，唉，地球妈妈又死掉了一条命。

地球妈妈可就还剩最后一条命了，我们可一定要珍惜啊!我们一定要珍惜这美丽的环境呀!

Once man did not have to think about the protection of his environment. There were few people on the earth, and natural resources seemed to be unlimited.

Today things are different. The world has become too crowded. We are using up our natural resources,and polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals. If we continue to do this, human life on earth will not survive.

We realize that if too many fish are taken from the sea, there will soon be none left. Yet,with modern fishing methods, more and more fish are caught.We know that if too many trees are cut down, forests will disappear. Yet, we continue to use powerful machines to cut down more and more trees. We see that if rivers are polluted with waste products, we will die. Yet, waste products are

still put into rivers.

We know that if the population continues to rise at the present rate, in a few years, there wont be enough food.What can we do to solve these problems?

If we eat more vegetables and less meat, there will be more food available. Land for crops feeds five times more people than land where animals are kept.

Our natural resources will last longer if we learn to recycie them.

The world population will not rise so quickly if people use modern methods of birth control.

Finally, if we educate people to think about the problems we shall have a better and cleaner planet in the future.
