The three tiers of arcades are faced by three-quarter columns and entablatures, Doric in the first story, Ionic in the second, and Corinthian in the third. Above them is an attic story with Corinthian pilasters and small square window openings in alternate bays. At the top brackets and sockets carry the masts from which the velarium, a canopy for shade, was suspended.

The construction utilized a careful combination of types: concrete for the foundations, travertine for the piers and arcades, tufa infill between piers for the walls of the lower two levels, and brick-faced concrete used for the upper levels and for most of the vaults.

This is the palace museum; also know as the Purple Forbidden City. It is the largest and most well reserved imperial residence in China today. Under Ming Emperor Yongle, construction began in 1406. The constellation containing the North Star was called the Constellation of Heavenly God and star itself was called the purple palace. Because the emperor was supposedly the son of the heavenly gods, his central and dominant position would be further highlighted the use of the word purple in the name of his residence. In folklore, the term ”an eastern purple cloud is drifting” became a metaphor for auspicious events after a purple cloud was seen drifting eastward immediately before the arrival of an ancient philosopher, LaoZi, to the Hanghu Pass. Here, purple is associated with auspicious developments. The word jin (forbidden) is self-explanatory as the imperial palace was heavily guarded and off-explanatory as the imperial palace was heavily guarded and off-limits to ordinary people.

The red and yellow used on the palace walls and roofs are also symbolic. Red represents happiness, good fortune and wealth. Yellow is the color of the earth on the Loess Plateau, the original home of the Chinese people. The Forbidden City is rectangular in shape. It is 960 meters long from north to south and 750 meter wide from east west. Octagon —shaped turrets rest on the four corners of the wall. Manpower and materials throughout the country were used to build the Forbidden City. A total of 230,000 artisans and one million laborers were employed. Marble was quarried from fangshan Country Mount Pan in Jixian County in Hebei Province. Granite was quarried in Quyang County in Hebei Province. Paving blocks were fired in kilns in Suzhou in southern China. Bricks and scarlet pigmentation used on the palatial walls came from linqing in Shandong Province .Timber was cut ,processed and hauled from the northwestern and southern regions.

The structure in front of us is the Meridian Gate. It is the main entrance to the forbidden City. It is also knows as Wufenglou(Five-Phoenix Tower). Ming emperors held lavish banquets here on the 15th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar year in hornor of their counties .They also used this place for punishing officals by flogging them with sticks.

Qing emperors used this building to announce the beginning of the new year. Qing Emperor Qianglong changed the original name of this announcement ceremony from ban li(announcement of calendar)to ban shou(announcement of new moon )to avoid coincidental association with another Emperor` s name, Hongli, which was considered a taboo at that time. Qing Dynasty emperors also used this place to hold audience and for other important ceremonies. For example,when the imperial army returned victoriously from the battlefield ,it was here that the Emperor presided over the ceremony to accept prisoners of war.

Now we are inside the Forbidden City.Before we start our tour, I would like to briefly introduce you to the architectural patterns befour us .To complete this solemn, magnificent and palatial complex, a variety of buildings were arranged on a north-south axis, and 8-kilometer-long invisible line that has become an inseparable part of the City of Beijing. The Forbidden City covers roughly one –third of this central axis. Most of the important building in the Forbidden City weree arranged along this line. The design and arrangement of the palaces reflect the solemn dignity of the royal court and rigidly –stratified feudal system.

The Forbidden City is divided into an outer and an inner count.We are now standing on the southernmost part of the outer count. In front of us lies the Gate of supreme Harmony .The gate is guarded by a pair of bronze lions ,symbolizing imperial power and dignity. The lions were the most exquisite and biggest of its kind. The one on the east playing with a ball is a male, and ball is said to represent state unity. The other one is a female. Underneath one of its fore claws is a cub that is considered to be a symbol of perpetual imperial succession. The winding brook before us is the Golden Water River. It functions both as decoration and fire control .The five bridges spanning the river represent the five virtues preached by Confucius :benevolence, righteousness, rites, intellence and fidelity. The river takes the shape of a bow and the north-south axis is its arrow. This was meant to show that the Emperors ruled the country on behalf of God.

如果有人问我喜欢哪个历史人物，我一定会说：我最喜欢三国时期蜀国杰出的政治家、思想家、军事家，智慧的化身——诸葛亮。

千古以来，诸葛亮深受人们的爱戴，身上有着无数美丽的光环。

“未出茅庐，已知天下三分。”毫无疑问，这是对诸葛亮才华的侧面概括。集超人智慧与谋略于一身的诸葛亮，被善于招揽人才的刘备重用，蜀国在诸葛亮的全力以赴下，终成就了大业。

我喜欢诸葛亮遇事镇定自若，深谋远虑。在“空城计”中，智慧的他毫不畏惧司马懿的逼迫，从容布置，从而使对方退兵，西城得以转危为安。我喜欢诸葛亮的神机妙算，料事如神。在“草船借箭”中，妒贤嫉能的周瑜设计陷害诸葛亮，而诸葛亮将计就计，趁大雾天扎草人攻打曹营，从而借来十万支箭，为赤壁之战准备了足够的箭支，也保全了自己。我还喜欢诸葛亮的智勇超群与忠贞不渝。诸葛亮为了求得南方的长治久安，听从马谡的建议，采用“攻心为上”的计谋，在与孟获的战斗中七擒七纵，最后使孟获心悦诚服地归顺了刘备，成为蜀汉南方的屏障这些世人耳熟能详的故事无不闪耀着诸葛亮知识与智慧的光芒。

我喜欢诸葛亮一生淡泊名利、志存高远的品质。他是一个“滴水之恩，必将涌泉相报”的人。他的一片丹心以求报答刘备的知遇之恩。因为受到刘备三顾茅庐之恩，诸葛亮只求安心生活，“苟全性命于乱世，不求闻达于诸侯。”因为受到刘备三顾茅庐之恩，白帝城托孤之重任，为了汉室之兴竭忠尽智，至死不渝，他是真正做到了“鞠躬尽瘁、死而后已”。他为了江山社稷，忠贞不二，呕心沥血，直到临死之前，还念念不忘江山社稷大业，为的就是报先帝的知遇之恩，实在可歌可泣！

“三顾频烦天下计，两朝开济老臣心。”这是后人对诸葛亮的评价，可以看出诸葛亮的鞠躬尽瘁。诸葛亮的性格品质至今还广为后人流传。《三国演义》同时也塑造了很多不同性格的英雄人物，它现在已经成了家喻户晓、妇孺皆知的读物了。

访先人之遗迹，发圣贤之古情。千百年来，诸葛亮成为东方智慧的化身，也是忠诚、廉洁、正直的榜样，很多历史典故都出自诸葛亮，“三顾茅庐”，“舌战群儒”，“火烧赤壁”，“三气周瑜”、“六出祁山”，“白帝托孤”，“呕心沥血”、“七纵七擒”，“空城退雄兵，死诸葛吓走活仲达”等等。不仅如此，后世留下了许多与诸葛亮有关的谚语、俗语或歇后语。如“三个臭皮匠，顶一个诸葛亮。”“万事俱备，只欠东风。”“既生瑜，何生亮！”“诸葛亮借箭——有去无还。”等等的这些谚语、俗语、歇后语不计其数。其传奇般故事为世人千古传诵，数不胜数。

诸葛亮，灵与肉虽然已经化作清风明月，但他的精神品质却在历史的天幕上镶嵌起耀眼的恒星，为世人永远展现出他那圣洁的光辉！

我最喜欢的老师

My favourite teacher is Miss Huang. She is a beautiful lady. She has two big eyes, a high nose and a little red mouth. There is always a smile on her face.

Miss Huang likes singing and collecting posters. She is good at playing the piano. In the evening, she always sits in front of the piano and plays nice music. She is good at dancing, too. Sometimes she teaches us dancing.

冰心(1900年10月5日-1999年2月28日)，原名谢婉莹，福建长乐人 ，中国民主促进会(民进)成员。[1] 中国诗人，现代作家，翻译家，儿童文学作家，社会活动家，散文家。笔名冰心取自“一片冰心在玉壶”。[2]

1919年8月的《晨报》上，冰心发表了第一篇散文《二十一日听审的感想》和第一篇小说《两个家庭》。[3]

1923年出国留学前后，开始陆续发表总名为《寄小读者》的通讯散文，成为中国儿童文学的奠基之作。1946年在日本被东京大学聘为第一位外籍女教授，讲授“中国新文学”课程，于1951年返回中国。

1999年2月28日21时12分冰心在北京医院逝世，享年99岁，被称为"世纪老人"。

We had a good time and it was the best birthday party ever．

Today is my birthday and Im so excited about it.In the morning I put a note on the table for my mum and it said,"Today is my birthday,dont forget it!"At school,I got many gifts and cards for my classmates and had a lot of fun.But I was still expecting the birthday party after school.

When it was time to leave school I couldnt wait to go home.When I open the door,there wasnt anybody in the house.There was only a note that said,"Coming home late tonight,mum and dad."I try to call them but there was no answer.I was so shocked,do they forget my birthday?How could this be!I was so sad that I couldnt eat anything.I just did my homework and waited for them.

And then,things changed completely.It was about time for dinner,my mother called and told me to go to the restanrant near our house.When I got there I couldnt believed my eyes.Everybody was there:my parents,my relatives,my friends and even my classmates.There was so many gifts and a big cake.What a surprising birthday party!
