Im Alina Li and Im Ben Hedges, and today well be taking you through some of the most important traditions of Chinese new year and historical background. We will look at some of the legends behind Chinese new year and how to celebrate it. Here in the US and Chinese across the world.

The Chinese have specific way to celebrate their new year. If you walk down the street in Chinatown during Chinese New Year, you see a variety of ancient traditions such as red banners, firecrackers and lion dance performances, streets are filled with lively celebration.

However, legend has said that the new year has not always been a time of festivity. An Asian Chinese story told a chilly start to this festive holiday, it begins with an ancient Chinese beast called Nian.

Every New Year Nian would rise from swelling in the sea to ravage Chinese village in livestock and hurting people. The villages soon found out from a wise gray-haired old man that the only way to scare the beast away was to set off firecrackers and light lamps and to hang red banners on each door. As the story goes, this was the beginning of a tradition that would last thousands of years.

So this story leads to the creation of many of other traditions for celebrating Chinese New Year. lets take a look at some of these traditions.

Chinese New Year starts with the new moon on the first day of the new year and ends on the the full days later. In china,people regard Spring Festival as the most important thing.People studied and worked throughout the year.No matter how far and how busy, they must do their best to go back home.Thats a tradition and now becoming a habit. The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional festival of the han. It is a very important festival in our hometown, so every year the Dragon Boat Festival is very busy.

The Dragon Boat Festival is the most indispensable, nature is zongzi, every year the grandmother of the Dragon Boat Festival and everyone will pack hundreds of big dumplings! There are many kinds of dumplings, such as reed leaves, bamboo shoots, wild leaves and lotus leaves. But our hometown is a lot of reeds, so most of them are wrapped in reeds. 除夕夜终于到了。晚上，我吃完团圆饭就和爸爸带着烟花兴高采烈地下楼了。爸爸先找了一块空地，接着把烟花飞天火箭轻轻地放在地上，最后用打火机点燃了引线，只听嗖地一声，飞天火箭冲向了天空，绽放出五颜六色的火花，真美!这时爸爸笑着对我说：力力，你自己来放吧!我听了吓得连忙直摇头说：我不敢，我不敢。男子汉大丈夫没什么可害怕的，只要你一点燃烟花离它远一点就行!爸爸对我说。听了爸爸的话，我还是有点胆战心惊，不要害怕，注意安全!爸爸鼓励我说。听了爸爸的话，我鼓足了勇气学着爸爸的样子用打火机点燃了烟花，然后飞快地躲到了爸爸的身后，只见烟花喷射出美丽的火花，一会儿象菊花开放，一会儿象流星，一会儿又象天女散花啊!我成功了!我高兴地跳了起来，因为有了第一次的成功，我不再害怕，胆子也越来越大，一下子放了许多的烟花，真是太高兴了!

通过放烟花这件事，使我知道世上无难事，只怕有心人这句话的意思了，世界上没有什么难事，只要有勇气和恒心就一定会成功!

The first day to go to school, I am so nervous, but the moment I see the campus, I feel eased.
